FROM OUR PRESIDENT Dear Friends, As our ’20-‘21 season comes to a close, I am filled with gratitude. This feeling is due to the actions of our dedicated board members, generous donors, and the hard-working professionals at Alpert Jewish Family Service and Levine Jewish Residential & Family Service who have been there 24/7 for the past 15 months. They have truly been our lifeline during this very trying pandemic. My first year as board chair has been a busy one, with many virtual meetings and some virtual events. Our “Never Again” Holocaust Survivors Benefit, co-chaired by my friends Vivienne Ivry, of blessed memory, and Sheila Engelstein, was a success. We were proud to honor Skip Randolph and Maggie Zeidman, chair and vice chair of the Palm Beach Fellowships of Christians and Jews. The fellowship promotes Holocaust education and provides scholarships to local teachers to receive training on that subject. Our 17th Annual “No Excuse for Abuse” program was open to our entire community. The proceeds enabled us to benefit children, teens, adults, and people with disabilities. Thanks to co-chairs Ilene Goldstein, Diann Mann, and Judith Rosenberg, we reached a record number of participants and exceeded our fundraising goal of $360,000. Our new Chief Development Officer Kelley Whiter, and our new Marketing & Communications Director Danielle Lustman are to be commended for their roles in adding to our success. FROM OUR CEO Dear Community Members, I am blessed to have witnessed the remarkable impact our agency had on the lives of thousands of people who trusted us to assist them. We were able to serve our clients and community from a safe distance so that people in need of counseling and psychiatry, food, financial assistance, learning and socialization opportunities, long-term care, and help dealing with domestic and substance use abuse could find solutions to immediate challenges. During what was undoubtedly the most difficult year in our Agency’s history, I was reminded of how, as a people, we come together, work together, and take on our share of responsibility for each other. This was only possible through the incredible generosity of so many caring members living in our catchment area. The strength we showed; the resolution with which we approached remaining open, active and effective; and our confidence in our capabilities resulted in some amazing feats of impact! Our welcome mat was open for programs, services, and events. Multiple holiday food deliveries, and two Kosher Food Pantry locations that benefit from food drives, fed bodies and souls. We maintained communications and connections with our clients, providing a safety net for individuals and families of all ages. New programs were established, and we became a home health licensee, broadening the scope of our services. The number of workshops for people with disabilities increased, and we started a new program to provide care management for young individuals and families. What a difference this year has made!
