The Voronoi diagram is a way to divide a space into regions based on proximity to a specific set of points. Each region is associated with a particular point within the space and is composed of all the points that are closer to that particular point than to any other point in the set.

Imagine a series of scattered points within an area. A Voronoi diagram creates polygons around each point so that all points within a polygon are closer to that central point than to any other point in the set. This is used across a wide range of fields, from data science to geography, to visualize spatial distribution and understand the proximity relationship among different locations or data points.
