We have long delivered programs that foster connection and prioritize authentic relationship-building. This past summer, people wanted to connect about everything—school, music, new hobbies, professional sports teams...
you name it, our campers and counselors wanted to talk about it. Not only did people talk, but they listened. Empathetically and intentionally, they probed and validated, they asked questions and they advocated. While one person’s experience was important, the idea of recognizing and celebrating that experience beyond the individual was even more crucial to the well-being of our communities as a whole. Every summer, Hilanders at Hive (5th grade graduates) work on a special building project that benefits the whole camp. The 2021 creation was a “gaga pit.” Gaga is a popular game similar to dodge ball.
