Creative young entrepreneurs

Short description

Each school establishes a "real" company with elected officials and an adequate role for each student. As part of their company, the students will design and create souvenirs to represent their place, county and/or country, all from recyclable materials (plastic bottles, cans, cords for tying vines, cardboard, old clothes, pebbles, pieces of wood...) . Students will research the market and shape the price of their products, create promotional material for the company and the product (poster, advertisement, website) that will contain the product catalog with prices, and finally present their work. During this program, students will have real experiences of using information and communication technology and foreign languages in a multicultural environment.

Work process

Step 1

1. Getting to know each other

Students use one of the activity starters found on the eTwinning portal, in the "Modules" section, to get to know each other. For this purpose, they use the student corner, where each student must post a positive comment on each partner's post.

2. Establishment of a company in each partner school

Each school establishes a 'real' company with elected officials and adequate roles for each student (see link to guidelines below). Each company finds a suitable company name and creates a company logo. As part of their company, the students will design and make souvenirs to represent their town, county and/or country, all from recyclable materials (plastic bottles, cans, cords for tying vines, cardboard, old clothes, pebbles, pieces of wood...) . The student corner is an ideal environment for communication within the company, as students can store all relevant documents and materials. They can also create an adequate space for seeking help and/or providing advice. Company officials can use the student corner to communicate with each other, but also to establish contact with a partner company.

Step 2

3. Defining the product (can be produced or resold)

Each company determines which souvenirs it will produce and the recycled materials it will use for production. Each company will sell its products to other schools.

4. Presentation of the company

Students present to each other their company, their roles in the company, the company logo, which souvenirs they will produce and the recycled materials they will use for production.

Step 3

5. Students, company members make souvenirs from recycled materials. They document the creation with photos and/or video that they publish on TwinSpace.

6. Market research

Marketing experts in each company will conduct online research on the prices of similar products and with members of their company, and based on the input values, determine the prices of their products. A market research campaign should be carried out through the discussion of marketing experts of all companies involved in order to determine the ideal products for mutual trade.

Step 4

7. Production of advertising material

Using a tool, students create an advertising poster and a video advertisement to advertise the company and the products it offers.

8. Creating a company website

Using the Google Sites web tool, students create a company website (logo, company name, members...). Part of the website will contain a product catalog with highlighted product prices and shipping costs.

9. Sale

The unique feature of this project is that the evaluation is also an integral part of the learning process. At the earliest stage, students need to be introduced to the evaluation process in a positive way, for example, this can be done by encouraging the publication of at least two positive comments and one constructive suggestion. If this is successfully achieved, students are expected to develop the following skills:

True cooperation, teamwork, friendship.
