TRANSFORMATIVE LEADERSHIP

"MY JOURNEY OF WOMEN'S EMPOWERMENT"

EARLY BEGINNINGS: NURTURED BY LEADERSHIP AND HUMANITY

My journey into leadership and women’s empowerment began in my formative years, nurtured by a family deeply rooted in principles of leadership, humility, and respect. Growing up in an environment that valued humanitarianism, my involvement in philanthropic work felt natural My commitment to women’s empowerment was ignited during my tenure as a Human Resources executive in the corporate world Observing that many women felt disempowered by societal norms, I realized that organizations, as microcosms of society, reflected these broader social dynamics

ACADEMIC FOUNDATIONS: FUELLING A PASSION FOR CHANGE

Earning my Master of Science in Human Resources at Edinburgh Business School in Scotland was pivotal This academic foundation and strategic insight fuelled my determination to create lasting change. Pursuing a Doctorate in Human Resources, I focused on women empowerment advocacy, driven by a belief in the necessity of a paradigm shift I champion "Outcome-Based Women Empowerment," emphasizing clear, tangible results to measure the effectiveness of initiatives This approach

requires a multidisciplinary strategy, considering that women need to develop in all areas of their lives It is crucial to understand that empowerment differs from person to person Knowing what may have disempowered certain women and what empowerment means to them is vital. Identifying areas where they are already empowered and addressing factors beyond them, such as government policies and their application, are essential steps

CREATING A PLATFORM FOR CHANGE: HR FUNCTION

Establishing my HR consulting company, HR Function, has provided a powerful platform to empower women, particularly in their businesses As the CEO and founder, I guide them on best practices for recruiting top talent, as the effectiveness of any business hinges on its human resources This process includes recruitment, company policies, performance management systems, training, and succession planning. Empowering women requires a multidisciplinary approach, which is reflected in my writing on various topics

BOOKS AND ADVOCACY: TOOLS FOR UPLIFTING WOMEN

Writing has been a cornerstone of my advocacy. My three books The Lady Boss Business Etiquette Blueprint, The Female Factor: Human Resources Leadership, and The Ultimate Guide for Business and Leadership Success for Women Entrepreneurs are testaments to my commitment to uplifting women in business and leadership.

The Lady Boss Business Etiquette Blueprint equips women with essential skills and strategies to navigate the professional world confidently, covering communication, networking, leadership, and negotiation The Female Factor: Human Resources Leadership delves into the critical role of HR in shaping organizational

culture and fostering diversity and inclusion This book empowers women to drive positive change and create thriving workplaces The Ultimate Guide for Business and Leadership Success for Women Entrepreneurs offers tools, resources, and inspiration for building successful businesses and leading confidently It serves as a roadmap for women on their entrepreneurial journey

A HOLISTIC APPROACH TO EMPOWERMENT

Empowering women involves addressing various levels of development Some women face disempowerment due to low self-esteem, negative self-talk, or lack of confidence. To tackle these issues, I organize events featuring expert speakers and deliver talks at global and local conferences on various aspects of women’s empowerment These efforts aim to create a shift in mindset and address one of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals: Gender Equality (Goal 5), emphasizing quality over quantity in achieving gender equality

Empowerment must begin with self-readiness Without readiness, transformation is unattainable I am grateful for the global accolades and platforms where I’ve been interviewed The journey of women’s empowerment requires worldwide collaboration, cohesion, and harmony, as it is a human issue. We must create lasting change to positively impact future generations Utilizing women’s skills and inherent qualities can transform the world, and to see tangible results by 2030, we must intensify the empowerment agenda with clear measures.

COLLABORATIVE EFFORTS AND FUTURE PLANS

During the COVID-19 pandemic, I co-authored anthologies with global leaders, addressing various aspects of empowerment Lady Diversity Power encourages diversity and inclusion, featuring contributions from 14 dynamic women authors Divine Femininity: My Relationship with God, written with global women leaders, aimed to raise funds to build a school in an underprivileged community in Burkina Faso in

collaboration with Build On, a global organization assisting marginalized communities with education facilities What I Have Learnt is a collection of truelife stories from authors sharing their experiences and lessons learned, helping readers navigate challenges and embrace resilience

My experience as a global ambassador for various organizations has shown that while women’s challenges differ, we all strive to improve ourselves and, ultimately, our communities and the world Recognition and exposure from publications and interviews in Australia, Mumbai, Nigeria, Kenya, the USA, Australia, and Flourish Digital Magazine empower me to collaborate with more women worldwide. I consider myself privileged to be a delegate of the Global Chamber of Business Leaders in South Africa and am honored to contribute to their esteemed publication, Global Times. Rated as one of the best magazines in the world, Global Times allows me to share my insights on Human Resources and Women Empowerment, further amplifying my advocacy I am in the process of registering a non-profit organization to assist women globally, and I am excited about the potential impact.

EXPANDING THE VISION: CURRICULUM AND EARLY EDUCATION

An essential aspect of my vision for women's empowerment is integrating empowerment principles into educational curricula Empowerment should be taught as a life skill to both boys and girls from a young age Including this in early childhood education can help inculcate values of respect, equality, and self-worth. Teaching boys to use language that shows high

regard for women and instilling confidence in girls about their abilities are crucial steps in dismantling harmful societal norms

Empowering young women from an early age by teaching them that they have the choice, the power, and the responsibility to lift others is paramount This foundational education can help them grow into confident leaders who support one another. In this century, solidarity among women is more crucial than ever. By working together, women can create an indelible mark and make a lasting impact on future generations

CONCLUSION: A CALL FOR COLLABORATION AND CONTINUED ADVOCACY

My journey in leadership and women’s empowerment has been one of continuous learning and unwavering commitment. Growing up in a family that valued leadership, humility, and respect laid the foundation for my passion My professional experiences have reinforced the need for societal change to reflect equitable dynamics

I believe that empowerment must begin with selfreadiness and be supported by a strong, collaborative effort Empowering women requires a holistic approach, involving education, supportive policies, and robust advocacy. My work, both through my HR consulting company and my writing, reflects this commitment

I am eager to collaborate with other organizations to further this mission. My experience serving on boards and being an ambassador and leader of various global NGOs positions me well for this collaborative effort The honorary Doctorate I received is not just a personal accolade but a symbol of honor for every woman in this world. Women’s empowerment should be included in the curriculum as a life skill for both boys and girls Boys should be taught words that show high regard for women, and girls should learn that they have the choice and power to lift others In this century, women need one another more than ever to create lasting change

We owe it to ourselves to continue this work, for it is our responsibility to ensure that the mark we leave is one of empowerment, equality, and lasting impact Together, we can transform the world for future generations

"7 VITAL STEPS FOR WOMEN'S HEALTH AND WELLNESS"

"Good health is more than just a perception, it is a lifelong commitment to mindful action. To truly prioritize your well-being, consider these essential steps for personal health and wellness."

1. BE PHYSICALLY ACTIVE

Make effort to be physically active because women who exercise tend to have healthier Blood Pressure and Cholesterol levels, have a lower risk of developing chronic illnesses like cardiovascular disease, diabetes Women are more vulnerable to develop osteoporosis and loss of bone structure as well as loss of height when they age because they have thinner bones than men and lose bone strength more rapidly when they age due to loss of oestrogen The best ways to build strong bones is through exercise, preferably starting at an early stage of development Exercises counters hormonally-triggered mood swings and when the women approach menopause, physical activity can lessen symptoms of hot flashes, night sweats and improves sleep pattern

2. MAKE SLEEP A PRIORITY

Women are multi-taskers, as a result need more sleep than men because they use more of their actual brain It is important to get the amount of sleep you need to feel rested and balanced in order to stay productive, preserve a high level of reasoning and keep steady emotions.

3. SCHEDULE AN ANNUAL WELL WOMAN EXAMINATION

Prevention is better than cure and the foundation stone of good health Make your own health a priority by scheduling health checks Annual well examination is important to detect disease at an early stage before symptoms become noticeable and can help you feel your best at every stage of life Ten health checks every woman should have include: Blood Pressure Screening, Cholesterol Check, Blood Glucose, HIV, Pap smear, Mammograms, Bone Density, Colon Screening, Skin Checks and Dental Checks Never be too busy to make time for annual well woman examination to better outcomes and a longer lifespan

WORDS "I AM SORRY!"

The Power of Forgiveness: A Personal Journey

The journey to forgiveness is deeply personal, requiring immense courage and self-reflection It is not an easy road, but it is essential for personal growth and healing Through forgiveness, we can let go of anger, bitterness, and resentment, moving towards a more positive and fulfilling life

My path to letting go of anger and resentment began with a heartfelt conversation with my deceased grandmother. This conversation had weighed on my mind for some time, but I knew it was something I needed to face One particularly burdened evening, I reached out to both my mother and grandmother As I started sharing the pain my grandmother had caused me, it was remarkable how our time spent praying and studying the Bible together began to transform our hearts Expressing my hurt and acknowledging my own faults realizing they were not so different underscored the importance of these conversations in moving forward from past wounds.

When my grandmother sought forgiveness, uttering those 3 powerful words, "I am sorry," it deeply

TURNING SETBACKS INTO SUCCESS

"THE STORY OF

A BOOKKEEPING PROFESSIONAL"

My name is Matete Chiloane, and I come from the small town of Bushbuckridge in Mpumalanga I studied paralegal studies at the University of Johannesburg and later took a short course in bookkeeping. Today, I run my own bookkeeping business and also work part-time in the construction sector. My main focus, however, is on helping people manage their finances through bookkeeping.

Bookkeeping is all about keeping track of money coming in and going out It involves recording every sale, purchase, receipt, and payment The goal is to ensure that financial records are accurate and upto-date. This helps businesses manage their finances better, prepare for taxes, and make informed financial decisions.

I started my bookkeeping business during a period of unemployment when I needed a source of income. The idea of being my own boss and having flexible work hours was very appealing I found great satisfaction in helping others comply with regulations that are often overlooked, especially by small businesses Educating my clients about the importance of staying compliant with tax laws and other regulations is a key part of my work

Many people don’t realize how serious the consequences of not filing taxes or missing deadlines can be Some of my clients had faced penalties for late or missed filings I’ve been able to help them reduce or even clear their debts by negotiating with the authorities

Here are some simple tips to help you stay compliant and avoid penalties:

Know Your Taxes: Be aware of the different types of taxes you need to pay, such as income tax and VAT

Keep Records: Save all your invoices, receipts, and bank statements in an organized manner.

Meet Deadlines: Make sure to file your tax returns and make payments on time

Use Online Tools: Take advantage of online platforms like SARS eFiling for easy and efficient submissions

Stay updated: Keep yourself informed about any changes in tax laws.

Get Help: Don’t hesitate to seek advice from tax professionals or accountants

By following these steps, you can avoid the stress and penalties that come with non-compliance

In addition to staying compliant, it's important to maintain a budget A good budget helps you control your finances, avoid debt, and increase your financial knowledge It’s a tool that supports both personal and business success

Turning setbacks into success is all about finding opportunities in challenging times. For me, it was starting my own business and helping others navigate their financial obligations. With determination and the right strategies, you too can turn challenges into opportunities for growth and success

Presently absent

The phrase 'absent father' evokes a story my great aunt shared with me many years ago. She recounted that in the past, when a child's father was absent or unreliable, families would often tell the child that their father had been hit by a train. Although this explanation seems sinister today, its purpose was to spare the child further distress and prevent them from asking more questions about their father's whereabouts. This approach, however unorthodox, allowed everyone to move forward.

Today, such a story would be unlikely to hold up, given our current era of social media, instant information, paternity reveals on TV, and maintenance courts. Personally, I was raised by a village of mothers and fathers, but I never had a relationship with my biological father. Although I knew of his existence, I never felt compelled to be part of his life or have him be part of mine. I simply understood that he was my mother's first love, until I arrived and captured her heart

As I reflect on my own experience, I realize that growing up without a father figure didn't leave me feeling like there was a void in my life, largely because I was surrounded by love and family. However, at times I wonder if some of the decisions I've made regarding relationships are somehow affected by not having a relationship with my father.

Research has shown that girls who grow up without fathers are more likely to experience low self-esteem, depression, and anxiety. They may struggle with trust issues, difficulty in forming healthy relationships, and a lack of confidence. The absence of a father can also affect academic and career aspirations, leading to lower achievement and career stagnation.

I was fortunate to have a supportive mother and a village of caregivers who helped shape me into the woman I am today As I grew older, I began to understand the complexities of my father's absence. I realized that his lack of presence was not a reflection of my worth or lovability I learned to focus on the positive influences in my life and to cultivate meaningful relationships with people who genuinely cared about me.

If you're a girl or woman who has experienced the pain of an absent father, know that you are not alone. Your story matters, and your voice deserves to be heard. Don't let the absence of a father define your self-worth or dictate your path in life. Instead, draw strength from your experiences and use them as a catalyst for growth and empowerment.

We can break the cycle of pain and hurt caused by absent fathers. We can create a new narrative – one that celebrates resilience, healing, and the power of women supporting women. We can raise our daughters to be confident, self-assured, and unapologetic about their worth and value

The "hit by a train" explanation may have been a coping mechanism for the past, but it's time to create a new story – one that acknowledges the pain of absent fathers but also celebrates the strength and resilience of women. Let's work together to create a brighter future for ourselves and for generations to come.

Instead of waiting until she's gone to say positive things we never shared while she was here, let's celebrate and value her presence today. Let's establish a practice of recognizing and valuing each other. Remember, your unique greatness is already within you.Your journey is not about competing with others; it's about surpassing your past self and embracing a transformed version of yourself. We acknowledge your value and want to convey to you right now: "You are genuinely more than enough just as you are, Sis."
