hings were looking grim for the Lady Hawkeyes at halftime. The Watkins Glen Senecas were up 13-11, and showed no signs of letting up. As the girls walked off the court, none could even muster a smile for the stands full of fans packed tight in the bleachers at Whitesboro High. But in the locker room, attitudes changed. “We started sharing what was going on, talking about ideas for how we could guard,” said Hawkeye’s Head Coach Mike Niles. “It was the longest discussion we’d ever had during a game.” And when the Lady Hawkeyes hit the court, there was no looking back. They destroyed Watkins Glen, 62-44, earning a spot in the Final Four for the

evin Morgan of Cooperstown, an intellectual property attorney with an Albany firm, is the new chairman of the Otsego Now board. In the combined position, he succeeds both Bob Hanft, chairman of the county IDA, and Joe Bernier, chairman
of the related county Capital Resources Corp., who – “to encourage fresh leadership” – did not seek Morgan reelection at the annual meeting of both boards Thursday, March 3,
in Oneonta. Morgan’s election was unanimous, according to a press release. He has been on the board since 2014. Both Hanft and Bernier will continue serving on the Otsego Now board and, hence, the IDA and CRC boards. Bernier will serve as secretary of both boards. Please See MORGAN, A6
