Allen Edmonds shoes are so well-made that we can actually return them to their original glory with our exclusive Recrafting process. Recrafting is far more than simple shoe repair. Using the original manufacturing process, we literally rebuild worn footwear from the bottom up. With five packages to choose from, Recrafting is the perfect way to give new life to old shoes. Prestige Package Our Prestige Package is a complete restoration. We begin by replacing soles, heels, welting, cork footbeds and laces. Next, we completely refinish the uppers, hand-polishing the leather to a vibrant glow. Finally, we add aromatic cedar shoe trees and place shoes in protective shoe bags. Standard Package Standard Recrafting is identical to our Prestige Package. Shoes are completely refurbished and the results are equally impressive. Here we simply omit the cedar shoe trees and flannel shoe bags. 752 Standard Package
Refinishing With Refinishing, we demonstrate the enduring quality of Allen Edmonds leather in our ability to reinstate its former brilliance. Built up layers of wax, polish and dye are stripped away. The original color is restored and protective finishes are applied. New Heels Even in our most basic Recrafting process, minute details matter. After removing worn heels, we replace them with new leather heel bases and Allen Edmonds rubber top lifts.* Next, we trim the heels, and ink and burnish the edges before returning the shoes with this small but significant improvement. 750 New Heels (New soles are not included.) *This process is not available for full rubber sole/heel shoes.
Prior work on Allen Edmonds shoes by other cobblers may prevent us from Recrafting a pair of shoes. Due to special construction methods, our Italian slip-ons, driving moccasins, Casual Comfort Collection®, Crosstown Collection and some handsewn and woven styles cannot be Recrafted. Obsolete Vibram® or rubber soles will be replaced with current soles. To properly preserve their unique materials, suede and nubuck shoes will be cleaned rather than refinished.
