An iconic American brand, an illustrious history, outstanding quality and service, high integrity, countless devoted customers, great employees and partners, highly regarded predecessors and, yes, still “Made in the USA” manufacturing… all of these spoke to me several months ago when I considered the chance to become President & CEO of Allen Edmonds Shoe Corporation. The gorgeous art and design of the products and the product development process also enticed me. And, of course, I had been a loyal Allen Edmonds customer myself for years. It’s exciting and a true privilege to work for such a great company. Founded in 1922, Allen Edmonds is a legendary American success story. Bert Allen took the company from its founding in rural Wisconsin and turned it into a national leader in men’s shoes. For some 25 years beginning in the early 1980s, Milwaukee business and philanthropy deacon John Stollenwerk owned and led this company with the kind of charisma, enthusiasm and effectiveness that – to quote a popular business book – brought Allen Edmonds from Good to Great. During John’s tenure, the company expanded many times over. Allen Edmonds shoes are now sold throughout Europe and Japan, as well as in the U.S., Canada and Mexico. While over 90% of all the shoes sold in America today are produced offshore, John and Allen Edmonds stayed committed to USA manufacturing, bucking the trend in a way I greatly admire. My team and I are completely dedicated to building upon this fabulous American story. Today, we live in “Interesting Times” and consumer businesses are under significant pressure. Advertising budgets are tight. To communicate with our customers, our products and actions are the best messengers. The shoes in the Allen Edmonds Classic Collection are born of American style and have been made in the USA since 1922 using the finest European leathers. The collection consists of both lace-up and slip-on dress shoes made with all-natural materials for increased breathability. For 87 years, these shoes have appealed to men of all walks of life, including U.S. presidents, popes, business executives and celebrities. At Allen Edmonds, we’re committed to delivering superior fit and comfort. Because we manufacture our shoes at our company-owned facilities, we can offer them in a broad range of lengths and widths. Many professional athletes wear our shoes because we can accommodate their uniquely large shoe sizes. See our size charts on the Support Collection page. Our Timeless Classics Collection is featured on pages 15 and 16. We reintroduced these historically best-selling styles in early 2009 as a result of numerous requests from our customers. We have had so many orders for these styles that we added them to the Classic Collection. Finally, don’t miss out on our new styles, which include the Hyde Park patent leather shoe requested by a certain U.S. president for his inauguration; the Lucca, which brings Italian style to America at a great value; and the Aspen and Banff slippers. They are shearling-lined and extremely comfortable to wear around the house. If you want a slipper in which you can venture outdoors, try the Banff with a rubber driving sole.
CONSTRUCTION The shoes in the Allen Edmonds Classic Collection* have been constructed by hand using the company’s famous 212-step 360° Goodyear welt construction process since 1922 – no shortcuts. There are many types and qualities of leather available, but we proudly source only the finest European leathers. Allen Edmonds calfskin leather has tighter pores than most competitive leathers. Thus, the shoes hold a shine better, are more durable and resist wrinkling. The heated cork layer under the insole forms to your foot over time, providing a custom, orthotic-like fit. The more you wear your Allen Edmonds shoes, the better they form to your feet. We call this “custom cork comfort.” Allen Edmonds is the largest cobbler in the world, and we perform all Recrafting® services in our Port Washington, Wisconsin facility where many of our Classic shoes were first handcrafted. TIMELESS CLASSICS COLLECTION During the early part of last year, we sat down and reread our consumer mail. We also read articles, “Tweets,” Facebook postings and fashion blogs (welcome to the digital age!). We noticed our loyal customers had one recurring question…why can’t we bring back some of their favorite styles? So, in early 2009 we re-introduced several of our historically best-selling shoes based on countless requests from customers, and the response has been overwhelming! Allen Edmonds handsewns are truly sewn by hand. Skilled artisans – not machines – literally hand stitch the lower to the upper, ensuring the two pieces of leather are aligned and sewn correctly to create the perfect fit. This process takes more time and requires more effort, but it’s the right way to make a handsewn shoe, so that’s how we do it at Allen Edmonds. The Allen Edmonds Casual Collection offers a broad range of styles to fit every lifestyle. For those who prefer our classic dress shoes, our Casual shoes are perfect for weekend wear. For those with a more casual lifestyle, the Casual Collection works every day of the week. Plus the slip-on styles make traveling through airport security that much easier. Several different lasts are used in the collection to give our shoes distinctive shapes and silhouettes for varying looks. And like our Classic Collection, they are available in a broad range of sizes. The Casual Collection also incorporates all weather rubber soles for added comfort and durability. We are excited to introduce two new Casual styles to the fall collection, the Berkshire, which is a rugged weekend shoe that looks great paired with jeans or corduroys, and the Cascade, which is a two-toned boot. The Cascade, in particular, offers great functionality; perfect for winter commutes to the office or watching your child’s hockey game.
CONSTRUCTION The handsewns featured in the Casual Collection use a tubular moc construction. This technique allows the lower leather to be pulled up around the last and stitched to the upper leather, resulting in an extremely comfortable and flexible shoe. As with other Allen Edmonds shoes, we proudly source only the finest European leathers. The Allen Edmonds calfskin leather used in this collection has tighter pores than most competitive leathers, resulting in shoes that hold a shine better, are more durable and resist wrinkling. The Casual Collection offers a range of durable rubber soles for added comfort and longer-lasting wear in all weather conditions. Available soles are listed next to each shoe and can be viewed on pages 51 and 52 of the catalog. Allen Edmonds is the largest cobbler in the world. This fall marks the introduction of the Executive Collection, the latest collection of dress shoes from Allen Edmonds. The 270° Goodyear welted shoe has a heel-to-heel welt, which allows the heel to be much narrower than a 360° welted shoe. This is considered a more modern and fashion-forward look with its sleeker silhouette. We are so proud of this collection and all of the hard work that went into its development that we have featured the shoes on the cover of this catalog! Our customers told us that they wanted a dress shoe with a rubber bottom that didn’t look like a rubber bottom. That’s why this collection incorporates a very sleek, black rubber sole that looks similar to a leather sole. Compare the profile of an Executive shoe to any other leather-soled shoe and you will see it looks like leather. This is the perfect shoe for customers who want a slip-resistant dress shoe for wet weather, winter commutes or those who simply prefer rubber soles. We introduced the ae by Allen Edmonds Crosstown Collection in spring 2009, and it was quickly embraced worldwide. The collection features classic American styling manufactured using flat-lasted construction that allows entry level pricing within the Allen Edmonds portfolio. The shoes use the same great European calfskin leathers found in our other collections, so they’re quite possibly the best shoes money can buy at their price point. Versatile styling easily transitions from a day at work to a night out on the town, hence the name “Crosstown Collection.” Each shoe in the collection is named after an area in the U.S. where men work hard and play hard. These shoes are extremely light, so they are perfect for men who are on their feet all day long. Because we manufacture our own shoes, we can offer them in a broad range of lengths and widths. See our size charts on the Support Collection title page. New styles for the fall are the Calhoun and Santa Monica. The Calhoun is a chukka boot that’s perfect for fall or winter conditions. It is available in brogue suede (shown above) and calfskin. The Santa Monica is a beautiful, bicycle-toe calfskin style that rounds out the collection nicely.
CONSTRUCTION The Crosstown Collection uses a flat-lasted construction technique. This means that instead of using a Goodyear welt like our Classic and Executive shoes, the sole is adhered to the shoe. Natural calfskin and cotton doublers in the uppers make the shoe naturally breathable and wick away moisture from the foot. The shoe has a rubber sole for durability and comfort. It also incorporates a dual-density, Bi-Fit™ insole for natural flexibility and movement in the forepart of the shoe while retaining rigidity in the arch and heel for support. A memory foam layer in the insole provides all-day comfort; we refer to the comfort system as “Flex-Light” comfort. Crosstown shoes are the perfect solution for men who find themselves on their feet for long periods of time. Unlike many competitive shoes, there is no metal shank in our Crosstown shoes. This makes them more comfortable and airport travel-friendly.

The Allen Edmonds belt collection contains genuine leather belts that are handfinished to color-match Allen Edmonds shoes. Allen Edmonds offers a wide range of belts from dress to casual that provides all the options you need for your wardrobe. Belts are available in several standard sizes and in special order sizes to fit virtually all waists. And new for fall are several dress and casual belts including the Fraser Reversible belt, Cimarron two-toned belt with woven detail, Braden belt with switchable buckles, and Potomac and Yukon belts which are perfect for casual wear.
PICK THE RIGHT BELT We receive many questions about belt fashion, so we thought we’d offer our expertise. To maintain a professional appearance, men should always wear a genuine leather belt to the office. very man should have at least two belts in his collection: a basic black leather E belt and a basic brown leather belt. A black belt should be worn with black shoes and a brown belt paired with brown shoes. Under no circumstances should a brown belt be paired with black shoes, or vice versa. o look even more fashionable, belt colors and patterns should coordinate with T shoe colors and patterns. o determine belt size, simply go up one or two sizes from the waist size of T your pants. he tail of the belt should easily pass through the first belt loop on your pants, T but it should not extend too far past the belt loop.

Allen Edmonds shoes are so well-made that we can actually return them to their original glory with our exclusive Recrafting process. Recrafting is far more than simple shoe repair. Using the original manufacturing process, we literally rebuild worn footwear from the bottom up. With five packages to choose from, Recrafting is the perfect way to give new life to old shoes. Prestige Package Our Prestige Package is a complete restoration. We begin by replacing soles, heels, welting, cork footbeds and laces. Next, we completely refinish the uppers, hand-polishing the leather to a vibrant glow. Finally, we add aromatic cedar shoe trees and place shoes in protective shoe bags. Standard Package Standard Recrafting is identical to our Prestige Package. Shoes are completely refurbished and the results are equally impressive. Here we simply omit the cedar shoe trees and flannel shoe bags. 752 Standard Package
Refinishing With Refinishing, we demonstrate the enduring quality of Allen Edmonds leather in our ability to reinstate its former brilliance. Built up layers of wax, polish and dye are stripped away. The original color is restored and protective finishes are applied. Finally, we wax and polish shoes to a high shine. 751 Refinishing (New soles are not included) 758 Casual Comfort Collection® Refinishing Package (Includes new removable footbeds. New soles are not included.)
New Heels Even in our most basic Recrafting process, minute details matter. After removing worn heels, we replace them with new leather heel bases and Allen Edmonds rubber top lifts.* Next, we trim the heels, and ink and burnish the edges before returning the shoes with this small but significant improvement. 750 New Heels (New soles are not included.) *This process is not available for full rubber sole/heel shoes.
Prior work on Allen Edmonds shoes by other cobblers may prevent us from Recrafting a pair of shoes. Due to special construction methods, our Italian slip-ons, driving moccasins, Casual Comfort Collection®, Crosstown Collection and some handsewn and woven styles cannot be Recrafted. Obsolete Vibram® or rubber soles will be replaced with current soles. To properly preserve their unique materials, suede and nubuck shoes will be cleaned rather than refinished. Use Allen Edmonds Conditioner/Cleaner to remove surface residue and to keep leather soft and pliable. To achieve a fine luster, wipe shoes with a damp cloth and allow them to dry at room temperature. Then, apply a coat of Allen Edmonds Shoe Cream or Polish with a cloth or horsehair dauber and allow to air dry. Remove excess polish by brushing with a horsehair shine brush and buff to a desired shine. Burnished Calfskin
To remove the slight haze you may notice with a new pair of burnished calfskin shoes, wipe them with a soft cloth or brush with a horsehair shine brush. Clean regularly with a damp cloth and allow them to air dry. Then, using a soft cloth, apply a medium coat of Allen Edmonds Shoe Polish in the appropriate color and allow to air dry. Brush with a horsehair shine brush to remove excess polish and buff using a soft, cotton flannel cloth. Nappa Leather
Apply Allen Edmonds Conditioner/Cleaner to remove any residue and to restore leather’s natural softness and durability. To remove any residue in areas where the shoe flexes, and to maintain the leather’s quality, simply brush cordovan footwear with a horsehair shine brush or wipe with a soft, dry cloth. Waxed & Grain Leathers
Waxed, glove and grain leathers can be cleaned using a damp cloth to remove dirt and any residue. Using a soft cloth, apply Allen Edmonds Leather Lotion, which has been specially formulated for these leathers. Allow shoes to completely air dry.
