Our Veterans Day Assembly was an event full of pride, acknowledgement, honor, wisdom, connection, celebration, and patriotism. On November 11th… at the 11th hour…we celebrated and honored those who have served in the United States Armed Forces.
Our Keynote Speaker was Master Sergeant Ken Murillo, United States Marine Corps Retired We thank him for his insight, his thoughtful words, and most of all for his service to our country and community.
Thank you so much to our Allendale community, to our students who listened intently and respectfully throughout the ceremony, and to each and every Veteran who has served this great country of ours. Our freedom is a privilege, one that many fought and died for and we are forever grateful!
For 90 years, Honor Credit Union has been rooted in its commitment to its members and communities. As a not-for-profit owned by Honor members—not outside shareholders—every decision is made with their best interests in mind. For those who bank with Honor, it’s evident that they are devoted to providing personalized solutions and meeting individual needs, a focus you can feel across all 28 Michigan locations.
Since opening its Allendale location in 2022, Honor Credit Union has carried that same dedication to the Allendale community. Every interaction is built on relationships—greeting members by name, understanding their needs, and supporting their goals. With a mission to Provide Solutions for Your Financial Success, Honor strives to create a lasting impact by focusing on what truly matters: people.
From supporting local nonprofits to fostering relationships with community members and small businesses, Honor’s presence in Allendale is built on connection, care, and a deep commitment to the community’s success.
A FOUNDATION OF COMMUNITY SUPPORT
Honor Credit Union believes that strong communities are built through intentional action. That’s why their involvement in Allendale goes beyond financial services. They’ve established themselves as active participants in events and initiatives, bringing people together and making a difference. Below are just a few of the ways Honor has supported the Allendale community in the past year:
• CU Kind Day with Love INC: Honor Credit Union team members partnered with Love INC on this national day of volunteering, dedicating an entire day to meaningful community projects.
• Stuff-A-Truck: Honor sponsored and hosted this collaborative effort with Engine House No. 5, collecting donations to support local families in need.
• Local Nonprofit Support: Honor served as a host site for local nonprofit organizations, offering space for car wash fundraisers to support community initiatives.
Growing Together: Honor Credit Union’s Commitment to Allendale’s Future
• Allendale Area Chamber of Commerce Partnership: Honor proudly served as a Community Partner in 2023 and elevated their involvement as a Community Leader in 2024, supporting initiatives that foster local business growth.
• M45 Celebration: At the inaugural event, Honor sponsored the Kid Zone, creating free and fun activities for families to enjoy.
• Supporting Allendale Traditions: Honor actively supports Allendale traditions, including the Christmas Tree Walk and serving as the Title Sponsor for the 2024 Back-to-School Fair, ensuring students and families have the resources they need for a successful year.
• Business Support: The Allendale Member Center offers a welcoming environment for local organizations, hosting board and committee meetings to encourage collaboration and connection.
Honor’s commitment to building genuine relationships shines through their team members. When asked to share what it’s like to work for Honor Credit Union, team members enthusiastically spoke about how they view their work as more than banking—it’s about supporting the success and growth of the community.
Local nonprofit leader, Alison Haraburda, founder of One Day Niche, has experienced this firsthand. Her organization empowers adults with disabilities, and Honor’s Allendale team went above and beyond to support her mission. From creating a tailored money management class to hosting their first fundraising car wash, Alison shared, “It is a privilege to work with Honor Credit Union.”
“As a small business owner, working with Honor has been a game-changer,” says David. “With their support, I feel like a valued member of a community…they truly care about my needs and success.”
Through their partnership, Honor not only provided the financial tools needed to secure their new location but also reinforced their role in supporting local businesses. David and Shelley’s vision for Affogato’s has now evolved into something even greater—thanks to the unwavering support from Honor Credit Union. Their new location, expected to open in 2026, will feature a drive-through and a rooftop patio, offering a more welcoming space for the growing number of loyal customers.
With their support, I feel like a valued member of a community… they truly care about my needs and success.
”
DAVID ANDERSON
For Honor Credit Union, banking means more than just transactions. It’s about creating lasting, meaningful partnerships that benefit both the members and the community. Small businesses are the backbone of our community, and I’m grateful to be part of a team dedicated to building these meaningful partnerships.”
