SPECIALISM SUCCESS Year 8 BITE students have extended links into the local community by working with Macclesfield based Housing Trust Peaks and Plains. Peaks and Plains Housing Trust challenged local students to create a social media piece, of either an animation or video that promoted the volunteering opportunities available at the Trust for their tenants. Five groups of Year 8 BITE students set about competing with each other as to who could produce the best piece of social media. Some looked at producing animation, others videos, all with the hope of having their work chosen. It was then in February 2014 that a competition was held in the Romero Centre Board Room. Two judges from Peaks and Plains, Miss Sophie Lewis and Mr Harry Moss (ex-student of All Hallows) came to All Hallows in order to judge the different pieces of social media each had produced and select one for their website. All entrants were warmly received. However, the winners were announced in The Celebration Assembly in March 2014 and Josh Mock and Christoph Langer as well as Molly Hodgson, Olivia Shaw and Katie Webster shared the prize. Sophie Lewis of Peaks and Plains and one of the judges of the competition commented “The entrants were all of a high standard, and the judges were impressed by the work that had gone into the projects. The winners were chosen because of the elements of humour, and the level of research carried out by the students into the various volunteering roles available at the Trust”. Congratulations to Josh, Christoph, Molly, Olivia and Katie! Each student received a glass framed certificate and a voucher for £25.
