Thursday 20th December 2012 Christmas Prayer Grant us, Lord, as we honour with joyful devotion the Nativity of your Son, that we may come to know with fullness of faith the hidden depths of this mystery and to love them ever more and more. Through Christ our Lord. Amen
College Uniform - Epiphany Term Attached you will find a reminder of the items required for college uniform. Parents of female students are reminded that all kilts should be at least touching the knee. A number of girls are keeping shorter versions despite parents best efforts - please make sure shorter versions are removed from the wardrobe. There will be checks and letters sent home, if necessary, in January. Students should also wear college jumpers and outdoor coats in cold/inclement weather. Thank you for your support.

Awards Evening
The English Department is extremely pleased with the recent successes of its students; from the Ghost Writers competition for the Macclesfield Express (well done James Musgrave!) to him and Aoife Ronan having their fantastic poems selected to appear in Manchester Metropolitan University's anthology 'All Write'.
It was great to see so many students and their families at Awards Evening on Wednesday. We are very proud of our students’ achievements. Congratulations in particular to our 'Special Awards Winners'.
On the 8th December both students, and their families, were invited to attend a celebration event at Manchester University to celebrate their poems being selected to appear in a poetry anthology and to pick up a free copy of the book. The day was a huge success and everybody both at home and at All Hallows were extremely proud of their achievements. To add to the excitement, though, Aoife's poem 'Dia Dutch' was then announced as one of 4 overall winners, beating over 300 entries to the top spot. This is excellent news for the school, too, as Aoife has won a variety of prizes, including a visit from an author for her school! We hope that our students will continue to be as fantastically successful into the new year and beyond.
All Hallows Has Talent A big thank you to the Sixth Council for organising the three All Hallows Has Talent Shows, which both show cased the talents of students across the year groups and raised money for our India project Mrs M Garvey Assistant Headteacher
Enterprise/Specialism Success
Year 9 Hospitality and Catering Group
Eight teams of Y8 and 9 students from All Hallows have successfully gone through to the first round of The Starship Enterprise Competition. Pete Pealing of Cheshire Peaks and Plains met with all teams on Monday, 17 December to run a workshop in The Romero Centre. In feedback after the workshop he said "having had some time with each group I was really impressed at the way they have all embraced this initiative, their enthusiasm was infectious. The standard of each project was also very impressive, especially as we are in the early stages and time is tight." From here, teams will pitch their ideas to a “Dragons Den” style panel of judges at the end of January, with the winning team from that round going forward to regional rounds and then hopefully the final at Old Trafford FC in May 2013.
Our students have been very busy with their own festive creations. They have made some amazing rich fruit Christmas cakes, using almond paste and have decorated them to a very high standard. Well done all of you. Mrs P Welfle
