Drinks Review

By John Boylan The recent change in the weather (thankfully for the better) has prompted a move into drinks better suited to the warmer climate. As per my last piece, a Provençal rosé would be perfect, as would a cool crisp cider.

However, a recent trip to Westport on the west coast of Ireland 'forced' me back into the black stuff and I'm trying to gently ease myself away.

I recently discovered this light Session Beer and thought it would assist.

Seven Brothers Brewery have been producing beer since 2013, distributing commercially since 2014. As the name suggests, the brewery is run by the seven McAvoy brothers (and two sisters) who accredit much of their inspiration to brew beer to their father, himself a keen home brewer.

And they're based in Salford, so it's local too!!

They produce a lovely delicate stout, an IPA, EPA and have recently released this beer, their session ale.

In a similar vein to their other ales this beer has a bittersweet quality, hints of pineapple and elderflower on the nose, the later of which carries through to taste. Light and refreshing with a very melon like end taste this is well balanced, a perfect accompaniment to these days of spring and summer and would be perfect at a barbecue.

Gym owner For the last 30 years, Daniel Albanese has been providing the residents of Alkrington - young and old - with his delicious ice creams and sweet treats.

Born in Reggio Calabria (the southern most point on the toe of Italy) on 18th August 1960, Danny moved to England with his parents when he was just 4 years old.

What is your proudest moment?

When I took part in an Iron Man competition and we won 1st place for the team event.

Who would play you in a film about your life? Me of course !!
