What are the different advantages and disadvantages of each type of hearing aid?

One of the most important steps in the process of getting hearing aids is to choose the type of hearing aid that’s right for you. In this article, we’ll break down the difference between two of the most common types of hearing aids, and then take a look at some potential benefits and drawbacks associated with each type of hearing aid device. Hearing aids are available in two different types: behind the ear (BTE) and in-the-ear (ITE). Both hearing aid types have advantages and disadvantages, so it’s important to weigh the pros and cons before deciding which type of hearing aid is right for you. ITE hearing aids The primary advantage of ITE hearing aids is that they’re small, lightweight, and fit entirely inside your ear. Another big benefit is that they’re less noticeable than BTEs, which means you can go about your daily routine without anyone (in particular) knowing you’re wearing them. The biggest disadvantage to ITE devices is that in some cases, sound quality tends to be inferior to other types of devices. They also don’t always fit comfortably because there are limits on how much they can vary in size; these limitations mean it may be hard for someone with a larger or smaller ear canal to find an ITE device that fits well. BTE hearing aids BTE hearing aids are made to sit behind your ear, which can make them bulky or obstructive. They tend to be powerful in terms of features, but BTEs aren’t as discreet. If you have long hair or a long face, for example, it may look awkward for you to wear one. You may also worry about how your friends or family will perceive you with a BTE—or how they might react if they see that your ears need assistance! You can use glasses to cover up some models of BTEs but other people will always know you’re wearing a hearing aid.
