In 1923, &#8220Edmund Dulac, the Distinguished English Artist,&#8221as he was billed on the front covers, was contracted by the Hearst organization to paint watercolors for The American Weekly. The contract lasted nearly 30 years.From the 1920&#8217s onward, Dulac&#8217s income came primarily from his American Weekly work. . Dulac painted 106 watercolors from 19241951 for thirteen different series for The American Weekly, until his final &#8216Tales from the Arabian Nights&#8217 in 1951.The three series featured here are &#8220Famous Vamps of History&#8221 from 1929, &#8220Follies That Destroyed Famous Queens&#8221 from 1934 and &#8220Fighting Women&#8221 from 1938.
