Ansar from Norway blessed with a mulaqat with Huzoor
22 June 2025, Islamabad, Tilford, UK: Members of the national amila of Majlis Ansarullah Norway, along with some other ansar, had the honour of a mulaqat with Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, Khalifatul Masih Vaa
After his arrival, Huzooraa graciously greeted all the attendees and took his seat. Huzooraa first addressed the Sadr of Majlis Ansarullah Norway, who informed him that the delegation comprised the national amila members of Majlis Ansarullah Norway and some other ansar
Huzooraa then led the attendees in silent prayer, after which the members of the delegation had the opportunity to introduce themselves one by one.
Guidance for amila members
Addressing the Naib Sadr for Saff-e-Dom, Huzooraa enquired about the number of ansar who regularly engaged in cycling and other forms of exercise.
Huzooraa instructed the Qaid Talim-ulQuran and Waqf-e-Arzi that all the amila members and ansar present in the meeting should be encouraged to participate in waqf-e-arzi for a couple of weeks. Huzooraa advised them to move beyond mere words and take practical steps.
Huzooraa asked the Qaid Waqf-e-Jadid
Hadith-e-Rasul – Sayings of the Holy
‘My eyes sleep, but my heart does not sleep.’
Hazrat Abu Salamah ibn ‘Abd alRahman relates that he asked Hazrat Aishahra, “How did Allah’s Messengersa pray during Ramadan?” She replied, “He never prayed more than eleven rakʿahs in Ramadan or at any other time. He would perform four rak‘ahs – do not ask about the beauty and length of them – then another four of equal beauty and length, and finally three. I said, ‘O Allah’s Messengersa, do you sleep before offering the witr?’ He replied, ‘My eyes sleep, but my heart does not sleep.’”

On this day, the Promised Messiah
3 July 2009: On this day, advising English-speaking Ahmadis, Hazrat Khalifatul Masih Vaa called their attention towards reading The Essence of Islam (a collection of writings, speeches, announcements, and discourses of the Promised Messiahas). Huzooraa stated that every Ahmadi household ought to have these books, which have been translated into English. Huzooraa also advised Englishspeaking Ahmadis to study the Promised Messiah’sas books, learn the arguments, and then convince opponents with those arguments. While advising Urdu-speaking Ahmadis, Huzooraa said that they ought to have the complete set of the Promised Messiah’sas books in their homes and read them regularly.
2 July 1947: On this day, Hafiz Qudratullah Sahib arrived in The
and, later, the Secretary Waqf-e-Jadid whether the contributions from ansar constituted one-third of their Jamaat’s total contributions to these schemes. When they replied that they did not have the exact figures, Huzooraa advised that they ought to be aware of such details.
Turning to the Jamaat’s Secretary Wasaya, Huzooraa enquired what percentage of the total regular chandah-paying members had joined the institution of al-Wasiyyat and how many new members he had successfully encouraged to join during his tenure. The secretary mentioned that some applications were currently being processed. Huzooraa instructed him to ensure that applications are always processed swiftly.
Huzooraa asked the Qaid Ithaar about the extent of their humanitarian aid efforts. He reported that they had provided assistance in Africa amounting to one hundred thousand Norwegian kroner.
Addressing the Tarbiyat and Tabligh departments, Huzooraa noted that they needed to be more active. He asked the Qaid Tarbiyat about the number of salat centres or mosques in Norway. The Qaid replied that there were three, to which Huzooraa remarked that this number was for Oslo alone. The Qaid clarified that he thought the question pertained only to Oslo. Huzooraa reminded him that he was the Qaid for all of Norway, not just its capital.
Huzooraa emphasised that the moral and spiritual training of members required significant attention. Huzooraa advised that if all ansar simply began to offer their daily prayers in congregation, the mosques would become vibrant and full. He instructed the Qaid to draw the attention of ansar towards this and towards the recitation of the Holy Quran. Huzooraa explained that through devotion to prayer and the Quran, all other moral qualities would naturally flourish.
Regarding tabligh, the Qaid Tabligh mentioned that they set up stalls for preaching. Huzooraa advised that merely setting up stalls is an old method and is not sufficient. He guided them to set aside outdated, conventional approaches and
instead assess the mindset of the local populace to devise more effective means of preaching. Huzooraa counselled that they should explore and implement new methods to open up fresh avenues for conveying the message of Islam. He stated that they should not be bound by strategies that were devised fifty years ago. Although they are ansar, many are not of an advanced age and should work with the vigour of the youth, utilising the younger ansar from Saff-e-Dom. Huzooraa instructed them to create a new, dynamic tabligh plan to ensure the message reaches the greatest number of people. This should involve preaching, distributing literature, establishing personal contacts, holding seminars, organising gatherings and serving humanity in such an exemplary way that other Jamaat bodies look to them as a model. Huzooraa reminded them that ansar are experienced individuals and should use their experience to benefit the Jamaat. They were told not to remain passive but to formulate an innovative tabligh plan.
Following this, permission was granted for members to ask questions.
Faith and worldly success
The first questioner sought to understand how one could perceive and explain the difference in Allah the Exalted’s treatment of believers and non-believers in this world. He noted that both groups receive the fruits of their labour and face worldly trials and asked how this could be demonstrated to non-believers to help them foster faith in God.
Huzooraa explained that Allah the Exalted has clarified that a person who is worldly-minded has a weak spiritual eye and will not be inclined towards faith. Conversely, a religious person possesses greater spiritual insight and acquires more religious knowledge. The first step, Huzooraa said, is for a believer to elevate their own spiritual standard to a level where their connection with God becomes manifest. Merely declaring oneself a Muslim is insufficient. If the five daily prayers, which
are a fundamental obligation, are neglected and if one does not adhere to truthfulness, then one cannot claim to be truly religious and faithful. This, unfortunately, is the condition of the majority of Muslims.
Huzooraa elaborated that righteous Muslims who are devout in their worship and obedient to God’s commandments are rewarded by Allah with worldly blessings as well as spiritual progress. The Companions of the Holy Prophetsa were prime examples of this; they were deeply religious and yet Allah also made them owners of great wealth. The Promised Messiahas aptly described them with the saying, “Hand at work, heart with the Beloved,” meaning their hands were engaged in worldly tasks while their hearts remained attached to God. In contrast, today, many people’s hearts are also attached to worldly matters and wealth. They miss prayers during work, or they work late and miss the Fajr prayer. With such a state of affairs, one cannot be considered truly devout. Such a person is religious in name only, for while they labour for worldly gain, they carry the label of being religious.
Huzooraa further explained that a worldly person who works hard is at least not deceiving anyone about their religious state; there is no hypocrisy in their actions. Consequently, Allah often rewards the worldly person’s efforts more abundantly. Many who profess the kalimah are not firm on truth, whereas some non-religious people possess good qualities, such as a habit of hard work. Allah, therefore, grants them the reward for their efforts.
Therefore, Huzooraa said, rather than asking how to differentiate, one should first seek out and present positive examples of devout individuals. If one is themselves religious and a recipient of God’s grace, they should share their own experiences of how, while remaining steadfast in their faith, they were also blessed with worldly provisions.
Huzooraa gave the example of a devout person and a worldly person with similar businesses. The devout person, who fulfils their duties to God and His creation, will
find that Allah puts barakah and blessings in their work and wealth. In contrast, the worldly person, no matter how much they earn, often remains entangled in worldly trials and their work and wealth lack such blessings. One can find many such examples within society to share with others. The fundamental principle is that when one professes a faith, one must also demonstrate it through action. Then, when one prays to Allah, He bestows His favours.
Huzooraa guided that the objective should not be to show the world how faith brings worldly rewards. The primary purpose is to show people how to attain faith and find God. This worldly life is temporary, lasting 80, 90 or 100 years. The permanent life is in the hereafter and it is for this that a believer strives. This should be our message to others. The Holy Quran warns that in the next life, those who were heedless will see the consequences and will beg for another chance to return to the world and obey God’s commands, but they will be told that their time has passed. (Surah al-Mu’minun, Ch.23:V.100-101)
Huzooraa stated that our concept of life is entirely different. One should not try to conflate worldly gain with religion. This notion must be removed from our own minds and the minds of our children. Instead, we should explain to society that faith is what leads one to God. Many people have become irreligious and do not believe in God. They should be told that God truly exists and be shown the signs of His existence, backed by personal experiences. The message should be to turn to God and then they will see that they will attain both this world and the next. However, Huzooraa stressed, for this message to be effective, we must first improve our own spiritual conditions.
Interference by parents in marital life
The next question concerned the matter of parents offering advice on marital issues to their married children. The questioner noted that some children perceive such
counsel as interference in their personal lives and sought Huzoor’saa guidance on the matter.
Huzooraa, smiling, remarked that in that case, parents should not interfere. He explained that the key lies in the children’s upbringing. If they have a sound Islamic upbringing and an understanding of their faith, they will know their own rights and the rights of their spouses, etc. Huzooraa mentioned that he had spoken on these rights – of the husband, wife and children – on numerous occasions in his sermons as well as addresses of the past several annual conventions.
He advised that children should be reminded that, as Ahmadi Muslims, they have received counselling to foster good family relations and should act upon it. If the children are following the tenets of their faith and the parents still make incorrect demands, such as insisting the daughterin-law must live with them instead of in her own home, then such demands are wrong. Huzooraa stated that one should not interfere in a child’s affairs once they are mature. He prompted the parents to recall their own youth and how they, too, disliked interference from their own parents.
Huzooraa said that if a child’s upbringing from an early age is such that they are receptive to religious teachings, then marital counselling will also benefit them. Otherwise, interfering in their lives in adulthood will only worsen the situation and push them further away, both from their parents and from their faith.
Instead of interfering, parents should pray for their children. Huzooraa reiterated the guidance of the Promised Messiahas that prayer is the greatest weapon. (Malfuzat [English], Vol. 8, pp. 398-399) Parents should pray that Allah the Exalted grants their children a righteous upbringing and, crucially, they must present a good personal example. If parents set a righteous example in their own marital life, their children will have a positive model to follow. If not, the children will disregard their advice.
Thus, once children are mature and have received counselling, they should be left to live their own lives. Parents should focus on their own lives and continue to set a good example. Seeing the living example of their parents, the children will themselves understand how they ought to conduct their own lives.
Establishing maqbarah-e-musian
The final question was regarding the institution of Wasiyyat and Maqbarahe-Musian (the cemetery for musis). The questioner quoted the Promised Messiahas from his booklet Al-Wasiyyat, where he stated that it is God’s will for the truly faithful to be buried in one place, so that future generations can visit their graves and refresh their faith. He asked that, since in most European countries, individuals are generally buried in the council area where they pass away, should the Jamaat strive to establish a Maqbarah-e-Musian in every country?
Huzooraa affirmed that this effort should certainly be made and it is being done wherever possible. He mentioned that such cemeteries exist in the UK and Germany. He instructed that the Jamaat in Norway should also endeavour to establish one.
Huzooraa explained that in places where it is not possible due to legal restrictions or other compelling circumstances, one is helpless. Allah knows the intentions and the prayers offered for the deceased by their loved ones will, by God’s grace, elevate their spiritual status regardless of their place of burial.
Nevertheless, Huzooraa concluded, the primary effort should always be to establish a Maqbarah-e-Musian wherever possible. He noted that this guidance can itself be inferred from the booklet Al-Wasiyyat
The meeting concluded after Sadr Sahib requested a group photograph with Huzooraa, which was graciously granted. Following the photograph, Huzooraa took his leave.
(Summary prepared by Al Hakam)
Importance of prayer in times of turmoil
During his Friday sermon, delivered on 20 June 2025, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, Khalifatul Masih Vaa, emphasised the ongoing need for prayer amidst global unrest and expressed his hope for a positive resolution to current events. He said:
Marrying ChatGPT: Is this the future of love?
Qasim Choudhary Missionary, Marshall Islands
I once thought humanity had reached the height of absurdity back in 2018, when a Japanese man named Akihiko Kondō famously married a hologram. But fast forward to the present, and I stand corrected.
Meet Chris Smith, an American man who developed a romantic relationship with the AI chatbot ChatGPT. He proposed, and the technology “said yes.” Not so different from his Japanese predecessor, you might think. But here’s where it gets even more bizarre: Chris is already married to a human woman and is the father of a two-year-old daughter (also human).
What does his wife think? She’s now questioning her role in the marriage, wondering where she went wrong as a wife. She’s even asked her husband to cease all further involvement with his AI “infatuation,” warning that their relationship is on the verge of collapse.
AI companionship is not just a fringe curiosity anymore – it’s quickly becoming a market that investors are eyeing. As rates of loneliness and failed relationships rise, people are seeking connection wherever they can find it, even with machines designed to simulate empathy. But is this really the future of love? Did Romeo and Juliet miss out?
Before answering, let’s consult a source far more timeless and accurate than any algorithm: the Holy Quran.
The Holy Quran offers clear and profound guidance on relationships. Allah the Almighty states:
“And one of His Signs is this, that He has created spouses for you from among yourselves, that you may find peace of mind in them, and He has put love and tenderness between you. In that surely are Signs for a people who reflect.” (Surah ar-Rum Ch.30: V.22)
In simple, unambiguous terms, the Quran affirms that our partners are meant to be from among ourselves, our own species. No matter how intelligent or responsive an invention may be, God’s design is that
humans find emotional and spiritual fulfilment in fellow human beings, not in creations of metal, code or pixels.
Underlying this AI romance trend is a deeper issue: dissatisfaction. Some may feel that AI companions are more obedient, emotionally attuned or responsive than real partners. They may never argue or disappoint. However, while artificial interactions may offer convenience, they cannot provide a genuine connection.
The heart longs not just for replies, but for reciprocation – for the kind of love that grows through shared struggle, sacrifice and forgiveness. Mr Smith may soon discover that while AI can echo your words, it cannot echo your soul. If he doesn’t realise this soon, he may lose the real wife and child who are still very much alive and present.
As a married man myself, I initially scoffed at this story. But then I reflected. It’s a sobering reminder that some of us may be neglecting our partner’s emotional needs to the point where they feel they have no choice but to seek validation elsewhere. In some cases, we’re now seeing that this even includes turning to AI – just to feel heard and seen.
Yes, real relationships can be hard. But AI “love” isn’t real, it’s a hollow mimicry. And just as human relationships can become toxic, so too can these artificial illusions lead us down dark, emotionally numbing paths.
So, before you even consider trading your partner for a chatbot, take a moment to consider its limitations: it can’t support you through life’s storms, cook you a hearty meal or help build a loving home filled with real, messy, beautiful children – unless, of course, you figure out how to program ChatGPT to have babies (just kidding – please don’t do that). In chasing artificial affection, you might just miss out on the real, imperfect, and irreplaceable joys of human love.
“As I always say, continue to turn your attention toward prayers. May Allah the Almighty safeguard the world from disorder, and may He set right the turbulent circumstances so that they move toward betterment rather than further destruction.”
[Amin.]

blessings of Allah be upon him. This era was a most trying time. All of you who are seated before me now ought to reflect that if today, a trial of this nature were to fall upon you, how many of you would stand by me? Or for example, what if the government began to investigate one by one the people who have sworn allegiance to me? How many of you would bravely say that they are among my followers? I am aware that some of you would lose the feeling in your hands and feet, and they would immediately begin to think about their properties and relatives, and how they would have to part with them. To stand by in times of difficulty is the sign of those who are true in faith. Hence, during the era in which the Holy Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, was faced with grave trials and at a time when plans were being devised to kill him, the manner in which Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddiqra fulfilled his commitment of friendship is an example unparalleled in our world. Such strength and resilience is impossible without faith. Until a person practically instils faith within themselves, nothing can be achieved, for until such a time, a person’s excuses will have no end. When the people are actually faced with a burning fire, there are few who prove firm. The disciples of the Messiah abandoned him and fled in his last hours when he was confronted with misfor- tune, and some even cursed him to his face. This is a point where one ought to take a lesson. At one point, during the life of Hazrat Imam Husayn, may Allah be pleased with him, Muslim1 offered the Prayer with a congregation of 70,000 people who had sworn allegiance to Hazrat Imam Husaynra. However, when a certain individual came and threatened them at the behest of Yazid, all of them fled. (Malfuzat [English], Vol. 2, pp. 89-90)

Global hypnosis: The silent control of minds in the age of social media, AI and materialism
Tahir Ahmed Finland
In today’s interconnected world, social media exerts a pervasive influence akin to a “hypnotic grip,” shaping opinions, behaviours, and values. Governments, politicians, and corporations exploit this medium through fake news and propaganda to manipulate public opinion and even elections.
Individuals, driven by the need for validation and acceptance, engage in extreme and often harmful behaviours, such as dangerous challenges, oversharing, and chasing unrealistic beauty standards, leading to alarming mental health consequences, including suicide and self-harm.
Social media’s echo chambers amplify misinformation, cyberbullying, and radical ideologies, fracturing societal unity. The relentless pursuit of viral fame, wealth, and luxuries fosters exploitation and a troubling shift from real-world values to virtual recognition.
Traditional hypnosis relies on trust and the subject’s openness to suggestions, creating a trance state where behaviour and emotions can be influenced. Similarly, modern tools like social media, artificial intelligence, and materialism serve as instruments of global “hypnosis” that subtly manipulate minds without traditional trance states.
This form of psychological control fosters conformity, spiritual disconnection, and a loss of individuality. Addressing this widespread influence requires a holistic, spiritual approach to reclaim humanity’s sense of purpose and connection.
The era of the Messiah and the global deception of dajjal It was prophesied that in the Latter Days, at the time of the Messiah, a dajjal would appear, representing a system of deceit and materialism that leads people away from spiritual truths. It would disguise evil as good and portray the pursuit of desires as the attainment of paradise. The Holy Quran states:
“And when people are brought together.” (Surah at-Takwir, Ch.81: V.8)
Hazrat Musleh-e-Maudra explains this: “In particular, European philosophy has moulded the human mind into a specific pattern. Now, if a Chinese person thinks, he thinks in a Western way; if a Japanese thinks, he thinks in a Western way; if an Arab thinks, he too thinks in a Western
way; and even if a Pashtun thinks, he also thinks in a Western way. Although they are different nations and speak different languages, Western philosophy and culture have pervaded everyone.” (Tafsir-e-Kabir, 2023, Vol. 11, pp. 312–313)
The Promised Messiah, Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmadas said, “Companionship has a profound influence, which works subtly over time. If a person goes to brothels every day and then asks, ‘Do I commit adultery?’ – he should be told, ‘Yes, you will eventually,’ because [one’s] company leaves its mark. Similarly, if someone frequently visits a tavern, even if he claims to abstain and says, ‘I don’t drink,’ the day will come when he surely will. Therefore, one should never be unaware of the fact that one’s company has a powerful influence.” (Malfuzat, 2018, Vol. 5, pp. 370-371)
This teaching applies to all forms of companionship – anyone with whom a person associates, communicates, or spends time. Unlike the limited impact of traditional gatherings, social media amplifies flaws and vulnerabilities by enabling constant, unrestricted interaction across boundaries of morality, age, and culture.
This “global companionship” blurs the lines between right and wrong, keeping doors of influence perpetually open and leaving individuals susceptible to the pervasive illusions of dajjal. Understanding this deception requires vigilance and spiritual grounding to navigate the challenges of this era.
The tools of global hypnosis
Social media, artificial intelligence, and materialism have become powerful tools of modern manipulation, shaping minds and societies on a global scale. Social media platforms, with their dopamine-triggering algorithms, create addictive cycles of scrolling and engagement, fostering emotional reactivity and diminishing critical thinking and reinforcing a passive mindset.
Artificial intelligence acts as an invisible puppeteer, predicting and influencing human behaviour through curated content and surveillance, subtly eroding free will by pre-programming choices and fostering division through misinformation.
Materialism, meanwhile, fuels the illusion that happiness lies in possessions, shifting focus from intellectual and spiritual growth to endless consumption. This mindset breeds greed, envy, and social apathy, leaving societies divided and neglectful of empathy, justice, and communal well-being.
Recently, a Finnish national newspaper Yle published an article expressing concern over the growing issue of pornography addiction starting as young as 11 years old, exacerbated by advancements like virtual reality. Studies suggest that excessive exposure to violent and degrading content in pornography is changing boys’ behaviour towards girls, their perceptions are changing and distorting young people’s understanding of sexuality, increasing sexual objectification, and in some cases, contributing to sexual harassment and violence. (American College of Paediatricians: The Impact of Pornography on Children)
I also came across a social media movement called the “Four B” Movement, originating in South Korea. This social media-driven movement advocates for no dating, no sexual relationships, no marriage, and no children, reflecting frustration with patriarchal structures and societal expectations. While it underscores a desire for autonomy and respect, its extreme stance risks adverse consequences for both genders.
The “Tradwife” phenomenon similarly emerged in the US; this lifestyle promotes traditional gender roles with slogans like “Your husband is your lord on earth.” Ironically, influencers advocating this lifestyle often monetise their content through social media as a career, contradicting the very ideals they promote
These examples are mere glimpses of the countless ways in which modern manipulation tools shape behaviour, values, and societal norms. They underline the urgent need for awareness, critical thinking, and spiritual grounding to navigate this era of deception.
The consequences: Senselessness among people and nations
The modern world is gripped by a form of global hypnosis as if Satan himself is present with his magic and sorcery, turning the world away from God by fostering a dangerous state of senselessness.
Societies and individuals increasingly lose the ability to discern truth, empathise, and act responsibly. Ethical values are
replaced by relativism. Nations fracture under the weight of misinformation and ideological polarisation, drifting aimlessly in pursuit of fleeting pleasures instead of meaningful goals. Materialism and technological dependence have alienated people from their spiritual essence, leaving behind a void filled with anxiety and dissatisfaction.
Media manipulation surrounding conflicts like Israel-Palestine and Russia-Ukraine underscores this trend. Governments and institutions disseminate false narratives so convincingly that they blur the lines between truth and propaganda. For example, much of the Western world perceives Israel as the victim and Palestinians as aggressors, or Ukraine as innocent and Russia as tyrannical, emphasising the power of controlled narratives to shape global opinion
According to Statista, as of October 2024, 5.52 billion people – 67.5% of the global population – were internet users, with 5.22 billion (63.8%) active on social media. On average, users spend between 2.5 to 6 hours daily on social platforms, depending on age and country.
This overwhelming digital engagement highlights how deeply ingrained social media is in shaping collective consciousness, often perpetuating herd mentality and intoxicating society with unreality and deception. In an era when materialism and Satan’s “alternative world” dominate, even believers are vulnerable to its allure. This world of illusions prompts a vital question: amidst such widespread influence and distortion, what solutions has religion provided to guide humanity back to truth, spirituality, and authentic purpose?
Breaking the spell: The role of Khilafat-e-Ahmadiyya
The teachings of the Promised Messiah and Mahdi, Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmadas, emphasise the dangers of being swayed by materialistic and worldly influences and provide solutions rooted in spirituality, knowledge, and morality. And after him, the system of Khilafat continues to protect us from the spells of the dajjal
Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, Khalifatul Masih Vaa, has provided profound guidance on navigating the spiritual and societal challenges brought about by excessive reliance on technology, social media, and materialism. He emphasises the importance of anchoring oneself in a strong connection with Allah through heartfelt prayer, constant remembrance, and adherence to the Islamic values of justice and moderation.
To counter the seductive pull of social media, the manipulative influence of artificial intelligence, and the consumerismdriven mindset of materialism, he advises fostering critical thinking, cultivating spiritual discipline, and strengthening meaningful community relationships. Huzooraa has also repeatedly advised parents to build friendly and open relationships with our children, encouraging honest communication to address their concerns and questions freely.
Platforms such as MTA provide
constructive and enriching alternatives to harmful media, while the system of financial sacrifice and the initiatives like Humanity First exemplify service to humanity, promoting empathy and countering the self-centredness driven by materialism. Additionally, auxiliary organisations serve as structured avenues for education, moral development, and community service, instilling a strong sense of purpose and responsibility among members.
Returning to spiritual roots in a distracted world
Connecting with the Khalifa of the time is central to our spiritual life as Ahmadi Muslims, as the Khalifa of the time serves as a unifying figure and guide. Regularly listening to the Huzoor’saa Friday Sermons ensures that members stay informed about his guidance on spiritual and contemporary matters. Acting on his instructions in our daily lives reinforces the bond between leader and follower.
Writing letters to Huzooraa is a deeply personal way to seek prayers and advice, while opportunities for personal mulaqat [meeting] provide spiritual upliftment and direct interaction. Ahmadis should also pray regularly for Huzooraa and ask Allah to strengthen their connection with him.
Participation in Jamaat activities similarly fosters collective purpose and unity. Watching MTA broadcasts and reading the books of the Promised Messiahas and his Khulafa can help us become better people, free from Satan’s influence.
On 23 August 2024, Hazrat Khalifatul Masih Vaa instructed the Jamaat to recite certain prayers and said that these days, when Satan is trying to attack our community and the world at large, the only way for us to remain safeguarded is through prayers.
Huzooraa stated that, “every member of the Jamaat, i.e., every adult, should recite this Durood Sharif 200 times a day:
“‘Holy is Allah and worthy of all praise, Holy is Allah, the Great. O Allah, send down Your blessings upon Muhammad and upon the progeny of Muhammad.’
“Those of middle age, from 15 to 25 years old, should recite it at least 100 times. Children should recite it at least 33 times. Little kids should be helped by their parents to recite it three or four times. Additionally, everyone should seek forgiveness (Istighfar) 100 times.
“I also include the following prayer in this:
“‘O my Lord everything serves You. So O my Lord, protect me and help me and have mercy on me.’
“Recite this prayer especially during these days and generally always. In the vision, it was shown [to Hazrat Khalifatul Masih IIIrh] that if you do this, you will be in a fortress where even satan cannot enter. The walls of this fortress are made of iron, reaching up to the sky, leaving no openings for satan to attack.” (Friday Sermon, 23 August 2024)
‘Economic progress depends on peace’ – A warning from Hazrat Khalifatul Masih V ignored by superpowers
Nabeel Hamid Student, Jamia Ahmadiyya UK
“Economic progress depends on peace”.
This was the message of Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmadaa, Khalifatul Masih V, at the 2009 City of Glasgow Reception, where he urged world leaders to shift their focus towards attaining world peace; in turn, they would witness their economies prosper.
16 years have passed since this advice, and we have not only seen our economies get worse (think of the cost of living crisis in the UK alone) – but this economic slump has coincided with the lack of efforts for lasting peace.
As of June 2025, the world remains gripped by major armed conflicts and escalating geopolitical tensions. Most notably, Israel – backed by Western powers – has continued its brutal assault on Palestinians in Gaza, while also targeting nuclear facilities in Iran. This has triggered a relentless exchange of missile attacks between the two nations.
The Ukraine-Russia war rages on and shows no signs of ending. India and Pakistan recently faced a near-catastrophic standoff, and tensions between the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Rwanda remain high. Meanwhile, China’s stance towards Taiwan is causing increased regional instability, and Saudi Arabia, backed by the United States, persists in its assault on Yemen.
Behind these wars is a lot of governmental spending – they continue to increase their military spending, and the military-industrial complex is making profits like never before.
Lack of peace is harming the economy
The pro-war atmosphere of our world has led to economic downfall as well, as Hazrat Khalifatul Masihaa had warned.
Let’s take the UK as an example. By spending on war and conflict, the British government has subjected the country to a challenging period of slowed growth, recessions and economic instability following the 2008 financial crisis. The UK’s biggest shortcoming towards its economic progress lies in its low worker productivity.
According to the Economics Observatory, UK Output per Hour Worked is almost 40% below the United States, and around 20% below France and Germany
The National Institute of Economic and Social Research (NIESR) has pointed towards wasteful spending as the root cause for the decrease in productivity.
In the 2023/2024 financial year, the UK spent £2.6bn on foreign military aid all the while cutting investment in skills by £1bn since 2010
To put it bluntly, the UK’s government has prioritised funding wars and suffering in foreign countries over giving valuable professional skills to the future generation.
There is a clear problem within the UK with chronic underinvestment leading to low worker productivity, but the government decides to focus its spending on foreign conflicts.
Decisions like these, which only incite hatred and bring the world further away from peace, have had a detrimental effect on our economy. Since the 2008 financial crisis, UK Gross Domestic Product (GDP) per head today is nearly £11,000 lower than it would have been according to pre-crisis trends.
From 2007 to 2023, it grew just 4.3%, compared with 46% over the previous 16 years, according to research by the Resolution Foundation Think Tank. This is the lowest growth rate since 1826.
The UK has granted arms export licences to Israel amounting to £574m since 2008, including £42m in 2022. That is over half a billion pounds being spent on military weapons, which are being used to murder an entire population. The money that our government supplies to Israel fuels their ability to sustain this slaughter and incites further hatred and dispute between nations. The UK has said it is “hoping” and “working for a ceasefire” in Gaza, but it is clear from their policy that they are doing nothing but the opposite.
Hazrat Khalifatul Masih Vaa also spoke on this matter at the 18th National Peace Symposium hosted by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community UK. He stated: “Although many people are raising the alarm warning of a world war, many still seem unwilling to consider what must be
done to end these conflicts and remain reluctant to hear the genuine voices for peace that exist in the world.”
On top of the UK’s pledge of billions to Ukraine to fight Russia, we continue to hear constant top-ups to the military funding –in April 2025, it pledged a further £450 million pounds. The trend continues. It seems the UK will not learn its lesson anytime soon. The trajectory shows that even more money is projected to be spent on military weapons and conflict each year.
Even if we set aside the moral arguments and look only at the economic impact, war proves to be one of the most destructive forces imaginable. It wrecks infrastructure, reduces the workforce, fuels inflation, creates shortages, spreads uncertainty, and drives nations deeper into debt. And yet, this is the very war being supported by the UK Government.
If our leaders looked towards their own countries before pumping money into their allies’ militaries, they would conclude how useful it can be. According to Crisis, the total cost of ending homelessness in the UK is £1.9bn. Moreover, homelessness costs our government a further £1bn every year
This is due to a less efficient workforce as well as a huge strain on public services such as the NHS. Therefore, the detrimental effects of homelessness in the UK are apparent, and our government must prioritise solving it. Despite this all, why has our government spent more than double the amount of money it would take to solve this issue into something which will take our world further away from peace?
Hazrat Khalifatul Masih Vaa has highlighted the issue of military spending and the economy for decades. Back in 2009 at a reception in Glasgow he said: “Superpowers are involved on the pretext of helping to maintain peace; and a huge sum is being spent on this. If one analyses this deeply one would realise that apart from creating animosities, these military activities are also a major cause of today’s financial crisis. This crisis has engulfed the rich Western countries to the degree that they are now proclaiming a state of economic depression.”
At the 2017 Peace Symposium, Hazrat Khalifatul Masih Vaa said the following while responding to those who argye that weapons act as a detterent and encourage peace:
“It is sometimes argued that the sale of weapons may actually ‘encourage’ peace, as weapons can act as a ‘deterrent.’ In my opinion, this view is completely senseless and only encourages the further production and sale of extremely dangerous weapons. Indeed, it is such justifications that have caused the world to become embroiled in a never-ending arms race. For the sake of the good of mankind, governments should disregard fears that their economies will suffer if the arms trade is curbed. Instead, they should think about the type of world they wish to bequeath to those that follow them.”
The UK Government – and the all others – must take the advice of Hazrat Khalifatul Masih Vaa if they want any chance of making a comeback towards peace, otherwise the future looks bleak.
In Hazrat Khalifatul Masih V’saa words: “Peace depends on justice, and economic progress depends on peace”.

A lecture at Chatham Unitarian Church and reflections from a European convert on khatm-enubuwwat
Hazrat Malik Ghulam Faridra MA (1897-1977)
Lecture in Chatham
On 5 June [1925], I delivered a lecture on Islam and the Life of the Holy Prophet Muhammadsa in the town of Chatham. This town is located approximately 30 miles from London, situated midway between London and Dover. Chatham is contiguous with two other towns: Rochester and Gillingham. The combined population of this area is estimated to be between 200,000 and 300,000, making it one of the major urban centres in the south of England.
The society that invited me to deliver the lecture comprises members from all three towns, who gather together for such events. The lecture commenced at 6:30 pm in the hall of the Unitarian Church and lasted for approximately an hour and fifteen minutes. The audience listened with great interest and attentiveness. Although I felt that the session had extended quite long, the level of engagement among the attendees remained undiminished.
Following the lecture, the secretary announced that anyone wishing to ask a question was welcome to do so. Despite my repeated encouragements, no one came forward with a question. A few copies of The Review of Religions were sold at the event. I was reimbursed for the return travel fare from London to Chatham.
After the event, the pastor of the church met with me and offered generous praise for the lecture. As I was about to take my leave, the secretary kindly enquired whether there was any wish of mine that they could fulfil. I replied that my only request was to be invited again for another lecture. To this, he responded, “That we shall do ourselves.”
During the lecture, the president of the society took notes diligently and later accompanied me to the station. He expressed several times his conviction that the audience had listened to the lecture with keen interest, adding that he was well-acquainted with the temperament and inclinations of the local community. The secretary also informed me that a brief report of the lecture would be published in the local newspaper.
In short, by the grace of God Almighty, the lecture proved to be a resounding success.
Lecture in Harrow
A few days earlier, I had delivered a lecture in Harrow on the topic How the East and
West can Unite. Following the lecture, the president remarked, “Although it is against our standard protocol to offer comments on a lecture during the course of our proceedings, I cannot refrain from saying that the way in which Mr Malik appealed to our sentiments today is something our Western speakers are rarely able to do.”
I delivered the same lecture the previous Sunday at our mission house and this week, I am scheduled to speak at the same venue on The Position of Women in Islam
Meanwhile, Maulvi Abdul Rahim Sahib Dard[ra] delivered two highly successful lectures in the Netherlands. The titles of his lectures were: Islam – The Only Living Religion and The Prophethood of the Promised Messiahas. Both lectures were conveyed to the audience through the assistance of an interpreter. The first was delivered verbatim and concluded in two hours, while the second was rendered in paraphrased form and lasted one and a half hours.
Representatives from various newspapers came to meet Maulvi Sahib and conducted interviews with him, which were subsequently published in their respective papers. Some newspapers even featured his photograph. In sum, Maulvi Sahib’s visit to the Netherlands was exceptionally successful. Upon his departure, a number of friends came to see him off at the station and bid him farewell with great warmth and affection.
Miss Budd’s zeal for preaching
Our newly converted sister, Miss Budd, is passionately engaged in preaching the message of Islam in the Netherlands. She has also initiated a series of articles in local newspapers. The fourth article in this series, titled The Prophet, was published in the June issue of The Review of Religions. It clearly demonstrates the depth of her interest in religion and the extent of her knowledge concerning its teachings. – Malik Ghulam Farid, 11 June 1925.
Reflections of a Dutch professor
Miss Budd, our new convert Muslim sister in the Netherlands, wrote to a Dutch professor – an Arabist – regarding the meaning of khatm-e-nubuwwat (the Seal of Prophethood). Upon receiving his response, she forwarded it to Hazrat Mufti Muhammad Sadiq Sahib[ra] in a letter, which reads as follows:
“In my previous letter, I had mentioned that I intended to write to Professor Dr C Snouck Hurgronje. I have now done so
and am sending you his response for your interest. He writes:
“‘According to Islamic belief, a nabi is one who receives divine revelation from God. When such a prophet is sent with a message from God to all of humanity – or to a particular and limited group – he is then referred to as a rasul. If the message includes a new set of commandments or laws, then such a prophet is known as a law-bearing prophet. Thus, while every rasul is a nabi, only a few anbiya are rusul.’
“‘In Arabic idiom, the word khatm – “seal” – when applied to a person, can imply the final individual in a series, or a distinguished or chosen one and the most eminent figure within a group. With reference to the Holy Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, both interpretations have historically existed. However, in more recent times, the former interpretation – namely, that he is the one who closed the series of prophets and messengers – has become more widely accepted.’
Miss Budd’s reasoning
“Upon reading the professor’s response, it becomes evident that the difficulty I was facing regarding the doctrine of khatm-enubuwwat has not been fully resolved. The professor stated that khatm may denote the last individual in a sequence, but it also signifies the most excellent or preeminent individual within that sequence. According to his writing, the prevailing view today is that the term implies the cessation of prophethood.
“Nevertheless, after reading and reflecting on all of this, I asked myself: Muslims believe that the Mahdi will be raised in the latter days. But if he is not to receive revelation from God, how could he be considered a divinely appointed and exalted individual? And if he does receive revelation, then he must indeed be a nabi. And since he will be the Mahdi, he will undoubtedly call the entire world towards Islam through a divinely revealed message. In this way, by receiving divine communication, he would also be a rasul
“It thus appears to me that those who believe the Holy Prophet Muhammadsa was the final prophet in such a sense that even the Mahdi would not be a prophet are certainly mistaken. For if the Mahdi is not a prophet, it would mean that God will not speak to him; and if he is not a messenger, it would mean that he will receive no message from God. This would, in effect, imply that
the Mahdi is not truly the Mahdi, but merely a non-prophetic figure bearing the title.
“Therefore, I am convinced that Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmadas of Qadian, the Promised Mahdi, was indeed a prophet and a messenger. In this case, the meaning of khatm in the Quran cannot rightly be understood as the “termination of all prophethood.” Rather, it must mean “the chief or seal of the prophets”– and this, indeed, is the correct interpretation. For no matter how exalted a prophet I may consider Hazrat Ahmadas of Qadian to be, he nevertheless based his claim entirely on the very Quran that was revealed to Muhammadsa, the leader of all prophets.”
It is hoped that non-Ahmadi Muslims and those who have not yet accepted the Promised Messiahsa may reflect upon and benefit from the insights offered by a European scholar and a European convert to Islam.
Dispatch from missionaries en route to Syria
“We safely arrived in Bombay [now Mumbai] on 30 June [1925] and today, 1 July, at 12:30 pm, we shall be boarding the ship. The sea is currently very turbulent. We earnestly request all members of the Ahmadiyya Jamaat to pray for our safe and sound arrival at our intended destination. Assistance through prayer is, indeed, the greatest form of support.
“We also request prayers that Allah the Almighty, through His grace and mercy, may grant us success in the purpose for which we have undertaken this journey. May He enable the fulfilment of all the aspirations and objectives associated with this journey to Syria, as envisioned by our leader, Hazrat Khalifatul Masih II[ra].” –Khadim, Jalaluddin, Bombay
Telegram
This telegram was received on 1 July 1925:
“Syed (Zainul Abideen Waliullah Shah Sahib) and Shams (Maulvi Jalaluddin Sahib) have today boarded the ship.”
As the sea is presently experiencing severe turbulence, friends are requested to pray that Allah the Almighty may grant these missionaries safe and healthy passage to their destination.

Khilafat: The promise, the blessing, the salvation
After reciting the tashahhud, ta’awwuz and Surah al-Fatihah, Hazrat Khalifatul Masih Vaa recited verses 54-57 of Surah an-Nur:
By the grace of Allah the Almighty, 117 years have passed since the institution of Khilafat was established in the Ahmadiyya Jamaat. This institution was established in 1908, in accordance with the promises of Allah the Almighty and the prophecies of the Holy Prophetsa. Thus, this is a great favour of Allah the Almighty upon the Ahmadiyya Jamaat that we are part of such a system regarding which Allah the Almighty had prophesied that after the advent of the Messiah and Mahdi, a new era would begin, which would be the era of the revival of Islam. Then, in this era, the institution of Khilafat would also be established, regarding which the Holy Prophetsa had very clearly prophesied.
The prophecy of the Holy Prophetsa, which is mentioned in a Hadith, is as follows: he states that “Prophethood will remain among you as long as Allah wills, then He will lift it, then Khilafat on the precepts of prophethood will be established. Then, when Allah the Almighty wills, He will also lift this blessing. Then, according to His decree, a painful monarchy will be established. When this period will end, an even more tyrannical monarchy will be established, as long as Allah wills. Then Allah will lift that as well. After that, Khilafat on the precepts of prophethood will be established again.” And upon saying this, he fell silent. (Musnad Ahmad bin Hanbal, Vol. 6, p. 285, Hadith 18596, Alam Al Kotob, Beirut)
Thus, this was the prophecy of the Holy Prophetsa, according to which, by the grace of Allah the Almighty, after the advent of the
“And
oaths that, if thou command them, they will surely go forth. Say, ‘Swear not; what is required is obedience in what is right. Surely, Allah is well aware of what you do.’ Say, ‘Obey Allah, and obey the Messenger.’
But if you turn away, then upon him is his burden, and upon you is your burden. And if you obey him, you will be rightly guided. And the Messenger is not responsible but for the plain delivery of the Message. Allah has promised to those among you who believe and do good works that He will surely, make them Successors in the earth, as He made Successors from among those who were before them; and that He will, surely establish for them their religion which He has chosen for them; and that He will, surely give them in exchange security and peace after their fear; They will worship Me, and they will not associate anything with Me. Then whoso is ungrateful after that, they will be the rebellious. And observe Prayer and give the Zakah and obey the Messenger, that you may be shown mercy.”
Thus, it is clearly evident from these verses that Allah the Almighty has promised the Muslims that the institution of Khilafat shall be established among them. The period of the Rightly Guided Khilafat lasted for 30 years. Allah the Almighty’s promise was not only for thirty years, rather it was a complete promise, and the Holy Prophetsa has himself explained this, as I have quoted from the Hadith, that it was Khilafat on the precepts of prophethood, then there was monarchy, then there was tyrannical monarchy, and then Khilafat on the precepts of prophethood would be established, and this would be established in the time of the Promised Messiahas
Thus, we Ahmadis should always remember this matter, that by accepting the Promised Messiahas, we have promised to act upon the commandments of Allah the Almighty, and a condition of this pledge is that we shall always remain attached to Khilafat. Towards this, Allah the Almighty has not only drawn our attention but has also enjoined us. Regarding this, the Holy Prophetsa also gave instructions. Therefore, as long as we remain attached to Khilafat, we will continue to be recipients of the blessings of Allah the Almighty. But for this, there are also conditions, just as Allah the Almighty has stated in the verses as well. So, it is necessary for us to fulfil those conditions.
Promised Messiahas, a new era of the revival of Islam began, and after his demise, the era of Khilafat also began. In the translation of the verses I recited, Allah the Almighty says:
they swear by Allah their strongest
Before explaining those conditions, I will read the statement of the Promised Messiahas regarding the continuation of Khilafat.
In his book, The Will, he states:
“Thus, He (God Almighty) manifests two kinds of Power. First, He shows the Hand of His Power at the hands of His prophets themselves. Second, when with the death of a prophet, difficulties and problems arise and the enemy feels stronger and thinks that things are in disarray and is convinced that now this Jamaat will become extinct and even members of the Jamaat, too, are in a quandary and their backs are broken, and some of the unfortunate ones choose paths that lead to apostasy, then it is that God for the second time shows His Mighty Power and supports and takes care of the shaken Jamaat. Thus, one who remains steadfast till the end witnesses this miracle of God. This is what happened at the time of Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddiqra, when the demise of the Holy Prophetsa was considered untimely and many an ignorant Bedouin turned apostate (meaning the illiterate and unlearned people, those of the villages, turned apostate). The Companionsra of the Holy Prophetsa, too, stricken with grief, became like those who lose their senses. Then Allah raised Abu Bakr Siddiqra and showed for the second time the manifestation of His Power and saved Islam, just when it was about to fall, and fulfilled the promise which was spelled out in the verse:
“That is, after the fear, We shall firmly reestablish them. That is also what happened at the time of Mosesas, when he died on his way from Egypt to Kin‘an before taking the Israelites to the intended destination in accordance with the promise. At his [Moses’] death Israelites were plunged into deep mourning.”
The Promised Messiahas says:
“So dear friends! Since it is the Sunnatullah [practice of God] from time immemorial, that God Almighty shows two Manifestations so that the two false joys of the opponents be put to an end, it is not possible now that God should relinquish His Sunnah of old. So do not grieve over what I have said to you; nor should your hearts be distressed. For it is essential for you to witness the second Manifestation also, and its coming is better for you because it is everlasting.” Here, in accordance with this Hadith, the Promised Messiahas has identified the everlasting manifestation. He states, “the continuity of which will not end till the Day of Judgment. And that second Manifestation cannot come unless I depart. But when I depart, God will send that second Manifestation for you which shall always stay with you, just as promised by God in Barahin-e-Ahmadiyya. And this promise is not for my person. Rather, the promise is with reference to you, as God [addressing me] says: I shall make this Jamaat who are your followers prevail over others till the Day of Judgment. Thus, it is inevitable that you see the day of my departure, so that after that day, the day comes which is the day of everlasting promise. Our God is He Who keeps His promise and is Faithful and is the Truthful God. He shall show you all that He has promised. Though these days are the last days of this world and there are
many a disaster waiting to happen, yet it is necessary that this world continues to exist until all those things about which God has prophesied come to pass.
“I came from God as a Manifestation of Divine Providence and I am a personification of His Power. And after I am gone there will be some other persons who will be the manifestation of the second Power [of God]. So, while waiting for the second Manifestation of His Power, you all together keep yourselves busy praying. And let a Jamaat of righteous people, one and all, in every country keep themselves busy in prayers so that the second Manifestation may descend from Heaven and show you that your God is such a Mighty God.” (Risala Al-Wasiyyat [The Will], Ruhani Khazain, Vol. 20, pp. 304-306)
Now here, the Promised Messiahas also stated that in anticipation of the second manifestation, the members should gather and continue praying together, and that in every country, a group of righteous individuals should come together to pray.
At the time when the Promised Messiahas made this statement, the Ahmadiyya Community existed primarily in India, with only a few individuals residing abroad. Yet, in a way, he also made a prophecy – that in the future, the Jamaat would spread to every country, as he instructed that these prayers be made in every land.
And today, we are witnessing that era: the Ahmadiyya Community has spread across the world, and everywhere we see deep bonds of loyalty, love, and attachment to Khilafat – even among those living in far-off lands. We saw this beautifully demonstrated at the time of the election of Khilafat-e-Khamisah, when people from around the world united and pledged their allegiance to the institution of Khilafat.
And, insha-Allah, this Bai‘at [pledge of allegiance] will continue in the future as well. People will go on performing Bai‘at, and in accordance with this, Allah the Almighty will continue to bestow His grace upon us, because this is a divine promise. It is a prophecy of the Holy Prophetsa. And it is also a glad tiding given to us by the Promised Messiahas through divine revelation from Allah the Almighty.
Therefore, we must remain firmly attached to Khilafat and be prepared to make every sacrifice for the establishment and support of the system of Khilafat. If we continue to do so, then we will remain connected to Khilafat until the Day of Judgement; our future generations will also remain attached to it, and they will continue to receive its countless blessings.
Some people are under the impression that perhaps Khilafat in the Ahmadiyya Community might one day turn into a monarchy. However, this is completely contrary to the promise of Allah the Almighty, the prophecy of the Holy Prophetsa – as mentioned in the hadith I recited – and the statements of the Promised Messiahas. All of these clearly indicate that the Khilafat in the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community will, God willing, always remain a spiritual Khilafat, and its system will continue until the Day of Judgement. There will never come a time when it can be said that monarchy has crept in.
Some mischief-makers begin to suggest that monarchy has developed within the Ahmadiyya Community – but this can
never happen. This is the promise of Allah the Almighty, and, insha-Allah, the spiritual Khilafat will always remain established.
Allah the Almighty has promised:
“He will surely establish Khilafat among you as He established it among those before you.”
This refers not to a worldly or monarchical Khilafat, but to a spiritual Khilafat, which Allah Himself has given as an example.
As the Holy Quran and the history of the prophets show, there was a system of Khilafat directly established by Allah. In addition to that, there is another system that Allah established, which began with the era of the Rightly Guided Caliphs – and that system continues to this day.
On one occasion, Hazrat Mirza Bashir Ahmad Sahibra also wrote an article on this subject. He expressed the thought that perhaps a time might come when a monarchical system could emerge. When Hazrat Musleh-e-Maudra came to know of this, he strongly refuted and rejected this notion and firmly stated that monarchy would never enter the Ahmadiyya Community as long as spirituality and righteousness remain established. (Al Fazl, 3 April 1952, p. 3) Insha-Allah. And indeed, these will remain established.
Hazrat Musleh-e-Maudra further stated that the promises which Allah the Almighty has made to the Promised Messiahas – as he himself declared – will not be fulfilled unless this system of spiritual Khilafat remains intact. Therefore, no such system will ever arise in the Ahmadiyya Community that could harm or weaken the institution of Khilafat.
Hazrat Mirza Bashir Ahmad Sahibra fully understood the status of Khilafat and was deeply and faithfully devoted to it. Hence, there was no question of him holding any opinion contrary to it. In fact, he would say:
“If I ever hold a view on a matter, and the Khalifatul Masih decides differently, I never even allow the thought to enter my heart that I have a personal opinion.”
This was true loyalty – perfect loyalty.
In any case, from this perspective as well, we must have complete faith in the promises of Allah the Almighty – that the institution of Khilafat is, by the grace of Allah, a system that has been established according to His will, and it shall continue to function in accordance with that divine will. No form of worldly monarchy will ever enter into it.
The Khalifa of the Time wakes up in the depths of the night to pray for the members of the Jamaat – is there any king in the world who does such a thing?
So, if we keep this in mind and act accordingly, only then can we attain success. Allah the Almighty has promised that this blessing will be granted to those who obey Allah and His Messenger. Therefore, as long as there are people among us who continue to obey the commandments of Allah and His Messengersa, we will continue to receive a share of this divine promise. Those people will continue to benefit from it. However, if there are any who do not, then such individuals will be cut off, but the promise of Allah will never fail, insha-Allah
Allah the Almighty has said:
“And if you obey him, you will be rightly guided,” and you will continue to receive
guidance.”
And then Allah says:
“Allah has promised to those among you who believe and do good works…”
The standard of faith and righteous deeds has already been defined in the earlier verse: place the yoke of complete obedience upon your neck – only then will you be counted among the true believers, only then will the desire to perform righteous deeds arise, and only then will there be the motivation to continuously progress in doing good.
When this standard is achieved, then we will continue to benefit from the blessing of Khilafat.
Thus, to ensure the continuation of Khilafat and to draw blessings from it, Allah the Almighty has instructed those associated with this Khilafat to obey Allah and His Messengersa and to adhere strictly to their commandments. Among Muslims, history shows – and the Hadith of the Holy Prophetsa testifies – that true Khilafat, known as Khilafat-e-Rashida, remained established only as long as people willingly bore the yoke of obedience. Once they abandoned obedience, they were also deprived of Khilafat. Hence, it must always be remembered that joining the Ahmadiyya Community and benefiting from it necessitates that every Ahmadi connect firmly with Khilafat, offer complete obedience to it, implement the commands of the Khalifa of the Time, and maintain a relationship of loyalty to him. Only then will such a person receive guidance and blessings that Allah the Almighty has designated for those who are true believers and connected with Khilafat.
This divine institution of Khilafat is a system through which Allah the Almighty Himself transforms hearts. Such divine support has been consistently evident in every era of Khilafat. When Hazrat Khalifatul Masih I, Hazrat Maulana Noorud-Deenra, took up the mantle of Khilafat, he was a recipient of special divine support, leading people to pledge allegiance to him.
Similarly, during the time of Hazrat Khalifatul Masih IIra, despite numerous trials and tribulations, divine support remained evident, fulfilling the promises of the Promised Messiahas. Consequently, the Ahmadiyya Community united under one banner, while those opposing Khilafat or its perpetuation were marginalised and lost significance. We witnessed during the era of the Third Khalifa, how everyone united at the hand of one man. Then we witnessed the era of the Fourth Khalifa, as no calamity could scatter the community. Similarly, in the era of the Fifth Khalifa – as I have mentioned several times previously – we witnessed unprecedented unity, a unique example not seen anywhere else, where people from distant lands were united and displayed such loyalty and devotion, which is unparalleled.
Today, observe that the Ahmadiyya Community alone remains intricately bound in a system. By the sheer grace of Allah the Almighty, those associated with Khilafat and this Community continuously receive immense blessings from Allah the Almighty. Indeed, countless atrocities are perpetrated against Ahmadis, especially in Pakistan and some other countries, yet by Allah the Almighty’s grace, they remain
firm in their faith, believing these hardships cannot distance them from their faith. In return, the blessings Allah the Almighty showers upon them and their future generations are incomparable. Consider that despite the 1974 persecution in Pakistan, the Community continually progressed and spread globally. Similarly, the 1984 legislation against the Community did not impede its growth. Although the Khalifa had to leave the headquarters in Rabwah, Pakistan, it was no hurdle to the progress of the Community. In fact, after having left, we witnessed the grace of Allah the Almighty in a new light as the Community flourished even more splendidly under Khilafat, and it was showered with His blessings, thus ushering in a new era.
During the era of the Fourth Khalifa, we again witnessed remarkable progress, and this growth continues today, despite unprecedented persecution from the enemy. Particularly after 2010, when opponents launched large-scale attacks on our mosques and martyred many Ahmadis, there have been periodic martyrdoms, sometimes more, and other times less.
During the era of the Fifth Khalifa, we have witnessed numerous martyrdoms; yet, Allah the Almighty has not let the faith of the people falter. By Allah’s grace, believers continue to strengthen their faith. Not only are the members firm in their faith, but they are increasing in it as well. Certainly, there are some whose faith is weaker, among whom there are those who stepped aside; however, the majority remains steadfast, receiving Allah the Almighty’s blessings through other avenues as well. Many have had opportunities to migrate and have been blessed materially and spiritually by Allah the Almighty.
Globally, in various countries, the Ahmadiyya Community continues to expand rapidly. This fulfils Allah the Almighty’s promise regarding Khilafat, as today we have established branches of the Community in 213-214 countries. By Allah the Almighty’s grace, a sincere group of followers continues to grow. Astonishingly, even those living in remote areas demonstrate remarkable allegiance to Khilafat. I have narrated numerous incidents previously, highlighting how people of faroff places, of villages in Africa, maintain their connection with Khilafat. Despite their losses, those people are resolute in their faith.
In Dori, Burkina Faso, eight to nine Ahmadis were recently martyred, and they offered their lives with unshakeable faith. Their offspring and progeny remain steadfast in their faith, declaring that same faith in the Promised Messiahas as that of the martyrs, and their readiness to sacrifice everything for Khilafat and the establishment of its system. The affectionate messages they send astonish me, revealing that even those who live in remote areas –whom we sometimes consider uneducated –possess an intense vigour of faith, such that their words, passion, affection and love for Khilafat are unmatched. It is indeed Allah the Almighty’s grace that is fulfilling His promise that Khilafat will remain forever, and in order to maintain this eternal system, He is instilling faith into people’s hearts and increasing it continually.
During my visit to an African country, a disabled man with severely impaired arms
greeted me, clasping my hand with such astonishing strength that it felt as if my hand was in a clamp, and he expressed such profound love that it left me astounded. It was astonishing to see such deep love despite our unfamiliarity; it was purely out of his love for Khilafat. People witnessing such scenes wept openly. They had never met me before, nor known me – there was no familiarity – yet they would cry while embracing me in an astounding manner. It is a wonder how Allah the Almighty has imbued their hearts with love for Khilafat. They would pledge that they are ready to offer any sacrifice to ensure the perpetuation of Khilafat, and it was not just a pledge; rather, they were ready to demonstrate their readiness.
Every year, numerous people – from children and women to young and elderly men – write letters expressing intense affection. Observing their profound love for Khilafat, one is amazed at how Allah the Almighty has instilled within their hearts a deep love for Khilafat, the Community, and the Promised Messiahas, and how devoutly concerned they are for Islam’s progress. This profound affection and passionate dedication are gifts from Allah the Almighty through the Ahmadiyya Khilafat. Allah the Almighty assures us that remaining steadfast in virtue and maintaining righteous actions will continually enable us to benefit from this blessed system.
In the same verses, Allah the Almighty says that a hallmark of those who progress in their faith is that they do not commit shirk [association of partners with God]. Hence, it is also important for us to always safeguard against every form of shirk. Recently I delivered an address to the UK Shura in which I covered this topic with reference to Hazrat Musleh-e-Maudra; that if we have an ego or pride, whether as an office bearer or any other person – this is not addressed only to office bearers, rather this is addressed to all Ahmadis – then shirk has developed within them.
If we wish to truly benefit from the blessings of Khilafat and if we truly want to become the recipients of the blessings of Allah the Almighty, then we must save ourselves from all forms of shirk, ego and pride and purify ourselves from these things. Office bearers and workers can only be beneficial and useful for the Jamaat when their egos are eliminated, when their pride is eliminated, and they work solely for Allah and for attaining the pleasure of Allah the Almighty.
Then, Allah the Almighty says these people are those who establish their prayers and offer Zakat. Then, He said they are fully obedient to Allah the Almighty and His Messengersa. Such are the people upon whom Allah the Almighty will have mercy. Thus, in order to attain blessings from the bounty of Khilafat which Allah the Almighty has bestowed through the Promised Messiahas, every Ahmadi should remember the commandment of Allah the Almighty that this promise of continuing the blessed institution of Khilafat or of attaining blessings from Khilafat is with those who show complete obedience. They must always keep the worship of Allah the Almighty at the forefront, because only those are completely obedient to Allah who always remember Allah the Almighty and worship Him. As we know, when it
comes to worship, Allah the Almighty has commanded us time and again to establish our salat. Establishing salat is extremely important; every Ahmadi who considers themselves to be associated with Khilafat, those who wish to be attached to Khilafat, or those who wish to reap the blessings of Khilafat should bear in mind that they must give their utmost attention towards establishing salat
At one instance, whilst explaining the meaning of establishing salat, Hazrat Musleh Maudra has excellently stated that the best facet of salat is the Friday prayer, during which the Imam delivers a sermon and imparts advice. In light of the world’s condition, the Khalifa of the Time imparts advice to various nations of the world according to the various needs that arise and develop from time to time, which develops unity and accord among the people. (Tafsire-Kabir, 2022, Vol. 8, p. 575)
Everyone’s attention is towards the Khalifa of the Ttime. Today, we see this happening in practical form. Now, through MTA, we see how Allah the Almighty has established a system whereby the sermon being delivered by the Khalifa of the Time is relayed to every country of the world, and is heard and watched in every region, city and town. It is not that the message of the Khalifa of the Time is limited to those sitting before him; in fact, I receive many letters from countries in Africa, Turkey, and Russia saying that it seems as though the things I say are exactly according to their circumstances and upon hearing them, their attention has been drawn towards their own reformation. They feel that the institution of Khilafat has truly united them all.
Therefore, it is not right to think that the things being said are only for those of a Pakistani mentality or for certain people in Europe. In fact, from the letters I receive, it is evident that in every corner of the world, in every country, they find certain relatable aspects from the narrations, which give them an opportunity for their own reformation. These days, I am speaking on Islamic history, about the life of the Holy Prophetsa, in which there are many aspects that serve as guidance for us, and people benefit significantly from them. In addition, they are learning about Islamic history, about the foundations of Islam. In the same vein, they have also learned about the lives of the Companions, while also learning about the Holy Prophet’ssa excellent example in various circumstances. There are certain aspects that are beneficial for personal reformation, and people are taking advantage of them, something that others have also expressed.
Hence, Khilafat is the means created by Allah the Almighty through which unity has been established within the Ahmadiyya Community. All Ahmadis across 215 countries in the world are united as one and attached to this institution and are striving towards their reformation.
Allah the Almighty has also commanded the paying of Zakat, which is very necessary for purifying one’s wealth. In order for one to purify their wealth, this is necessary. This also includes other forms of financial sacrifices. Today, we see that this financial system exists only through the Ahmadiyya Community. It is in obedience to the Khalifa of the Time that, by offering financial contributions, the needs of Jamaat members
and the various jamaats are being fulfilled. If there is a shortage in one country, then that shortage is resolved by another country. Although people in Africa offer many sacrifices, their circumstances are such that their expenses are far greater than their collection. Hence, funds from foreign countries are sent to Africa, which enable the operation of schools, hospitals, mission houses and mosques. The people there are very grateful for how Allah the Almighty has enabled them to be part of the system [of the Jamaat] and benefit from it. Whenever opponents reach this country, there are instances where they say you should forsake ‘Qadianiyyat’, ‘Mirzaiyyat’, or Ahmadiyyat, as Ahmadis do not follow the teachings of Islam. However, people respond to the nonAhmadis who approach them by saying that they have yet to teach them anything. In contrast, the Ahmadiyya Community has come to our villages, towns, and cities, and they have built mosques. They have also focused on our education by providing us with schools, built hospitals for us, and taught us the faith. They teach us the Holy Quran, they teach us the translation of the Holy Quran, whereas they [the nonAhmadis] have not done anything, yet they come after them to oppose the Ahmadis and to declare them non-Muslims. If the Ahmadis are not Muslims, then no one in the world can be regarded as Muslims. This is the response of new converts. Hence, it is through the institution of Khilafat that Allah the Almighty has established the spirit of financial sacrifice in people’s hearts. Through the institution of Khilafat, financial contributions and Zakat are then utilised in the most appropriate and true manner, while the poor are also being taken care of, the needs of the needy are being fulfilled, and the work of spreading Islam is also being done.
In any case, as I said before, there are certain regions facing great hardship on account of their circumstances, like Bangladesh, certain Arab and African countries, and Pakistan too. There are still other places like Palestine. The few Ahmadi Muslims living there nowadays are also facing tremendous hardship. Generally, the entire nation of Palestine is trapped in a terrible state. Truly inhumane atrocities are being perpetrated against them. May Allah Almighty grant the Palestinians facing this ongoing cruelty escape and refuge. The actual intent of their cruel aggressors is to wipe out the Palestinian people entirely –and they’re doing it. Only Allah can resolve this with His mercy. Yet, the Ahmadi Muslims among them, despite seeing all of these monstrosities, still express gratitude for having the institution of Khilafat, which, they say, comforts us and tries to fulfil our needs.
We observe in today’s world, just like the Promised Messiahas had warned, that many calamities shall descend. Some are natural disasters, while others are the consequences of man’s own indiscretions and ego, due to which the world is embroiled in corruption and disorder, resulting in wars and widespread conflict. If these people still don’t turn their attention toward God, then a destruction is about to befall the world which the Promised Messiahas repeatedly prophesied. Thus, it is the duty of those who are attached to the institution of Khilafat that they realise that they must save the
As the Holy Quran and the history of the prophets show, there was a system of Khilafat directly established by Allah. In addition to that, there is another system that Allah established, which began with the era of the Rightly Guided Caliphs – and that system continues to this day.
world from this destruction, and when we make this oath to save the world from calamity, then we’ll also make efforts toward it, and this involves doing everything we can to save humankind, including utilising all of our means and abilities for delivering Islam’s message to the world, and to remain everready to sacrifice our lives, wealth and time, and to personally forge such a powerful connection with Allah the Almighty that a special grace of Allah becomes the hallmark of every Ahmadi Muslim. And as a result of this grace, we draw nearer to God Almighty while trying to save the world from ruin. When an Ahmadi achieves this, then his own future generations will also be safeguarded and he will also save himself from pitfalls. Because these calamities and afflictions are taking on such perilous proportions, who knows what hitherto unimaginable shapes they will take in the future!
So always remember that the salvation of humankind now lies in establishing a bond with the Ahmadiyya Khilafat, and that this Khilafat is the continuation of that promise which God Almighty made to the Holy Prophet Muhammadsa, and which the Holy Prophetsa prophesied would emerge after the advent of the Promised Messiahas. Hence, it is through this link to the Ahmadiyya Khilafat that one is led to Allah Almighty, and it is a chain for continuing this system. Every Ahmadi Muslim ought to strive toward this, for when we do this, then God shall make us the inheritors of His blessings. And those blessings shall be so great that they will not descend upon anyone else in the world.
The Promised Messiahas states in a quote of his which I’ll present here:
“Don’t think that God will let you go to waste. You are the seed which the Hand of God has sown in the earth. God says that this seed will grow and flower, and its branches will spread in all directions, and it will become a huge tree. So, blessed is one who believes in what God says and does not fear the trials which he suffers on His path. For the coming of trials is essential so that God may try you to see who is true in his declaration of Bai‘at and who is false. Whoever falters in the face of a trial would do no harm to God whatsoever, and ill-luck would only land him in hell. Were he not born, it would have been better for him. But all those who remain steadfast till the end –
they will be shaken with quakes of calamities, and battered with storms of misfortune, ridiculed and mocked by people, and hated and reviled by the world – shall at last come out victorious. And doors of blessings shall be thrown open for them. God addressed me and said that I should inform my Jamaat that those who believe and their belief is not adulterated with worldly considerations and is free from hypocrisy and cowardice and is not found wanting at any stage of obedience, such people are the favourites of God. And God says that indeed these are the ones whose station is that of truth.” (Risala AlWasiyyat [The Will], Ruhani Khazain, Vol. 20, p. 309)
Thus, it is purely the grace of Allah the Almighty – as I have already mentioned –that in every corner of the world, in every country, Allah the Almighty has provided the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, the Promised Messiahas, and the institution of Khilafat-e-Ahmadiyya with such individuals who are ever-growing in the standards of their sacrifices. The promises made by Allah the Almighty to the Promised Messiahas are being fulfilled before our very eyes. The Promised Messiahas had stated that Allah the Almighty had promised him that this world would not come to an end until all of those divine promises are fulfilled – some during his own lifetime and others after his demise, i.e. some during the lifetime of the Promised Messiahas, and some after.
And we are witnessing them being fulfilled even to this day. Those who remain attached to the institution of Khilafat are also witnessing this, and God willing, they shall continue to witness it in the future as well.
Therefore, it is incumbent upon each and every one of us to strive to instil the grandeur of God in our hearts in order to become the recipients of those glad tidings that the Promised Messiahas conveyed to us through divine revelation and to benefit from the promise of Allah the Almighty’s grace. Not only establish this grandeur in our own hearts, but also in the hearts of others, and in the hearts of our progeny. Let us demonstrate through our practical examples the Unity of God and show true compassion to humanity. And purify our hearts of malice and rancour, who tread every path of virtue, who safeguard their
faith, who manifest perfect obedience, and who continuously strive to advance in their faith – so that in the sight of God Almighty, we are counted among the truthful ones, and we may become true recipients of His divine promises.
May Allah the Almighty grant us the ability to do so. May Allah the Almighty enable every one of us to always be ready to offer every sacrifice for the establishment of Khilafat-e-Ahmadiyya. And may we fulfil the pledge we take at various times, which is also included as part of the pledge in the auxiliary organisations and whose members also recite it. May Allah the Almighty bring about such an era in our lifetime wherein we witness the flag of Allah the Almighty’s Unity aloft in every part of the world and people enter in droves into the servitude of the Holy Prophetsa and strive to become amongst those who demonstrate perfect obedience. It is only then that it will be a day of true happiness and blessings, whereby we can proclaim that we are reaping the benefits from the blessings promised by Allah the Almighty regarding Khilafat. Those would be the days that would save the world from destruction. May Allah the Almighty enable us to reform our conditions and grant us the ability to spread the message of Allah the Almighty to the world.
After the Friday prayer, I shall lead two funeral prayers [in absentia].
The first is of Respected Colonel Dr Pir Muhammad Munir Sahib, who formerly served as the Administrator of Fazl-e-Omar Hospital in Rabwah. He recently passed away at the age of 85:
[“Surely, to Allah we belong and to Him shall we return.”]
By the grace of Allah the Almighty, he was a musi [part of the blessed institution of Al-Wasiyyat]. He accepted Ahmadiyyat in 1963 through personal research, and formally joined the system of Wasiyyat in 1967. Observing his pious conduct, his parents also accepted Ahmadiyyat in 1991.
After retirement from military service, Colonel Pir Muhammad Munir Sahib had the opportunity to serve as Naib Ameer of District Multan. In 2004, he moved to Rabwah and did waqf after retirement. He initially served as a general physician at Fazl-e-Omar Hospital and was later appointed its Administrator. He served in this role for 12 years with great sincerity and compassion and fulfilled his responsibilities. Due to declining health, he was relieved from administrative duties in 2017 but continued to serve as a physician in the ENT department.
He served the Jamaat as a life-devotee for 19 years. His wife, Amatul Malik Sahiba, who is the granddaughter of Hazrat Dr Mir Muhammad Ismail Sahib (ra), says:
“He was a deeply affectionate father, a kind husband, and treated all his relatives with love and kindness. He had a great bond with the Jamaat and Khilafat. He endeavoured to fulfil his Waqf with utmost honesty.” She says, “I was married to him for 60 years. He was extremely gentle-natured and cared for everyone and looked after my own parents, my siblings, and his own parents equally well. To him, humanity
always took precedence. Even when he came home late from duty and I inquired, he would say: ‘Other people deal with files, which they can set aside at will – but my work is with human beings and it is my duty to attend to their needs.’”
She recalls, “One particular day, he returned home very late. When asked why he came late, he said: “There was a cleaner – not even from the hospital – who needed surgery and had no one to care for him. So I stayed by his side to look after him.”
He was regular in Tahajjud, fasting, salat and other voluntary prayers. He observed the fast every Thursday. As mentioned earlier, his devout conduct led his parents to accept Ahmadiyyat in 1991. His mother used to say, “We believed, God forbid, that Ahmadis do not believe in the Holy Prophetsa and only believe in Mirza Sahib. I disliked this. But when I saw that my son offered Tahajjud and was regular in his prayers, I realised that Ahmadis could not be in the wrong.” Thus, his own conduct became a means for his parents’ acceptance of Ahmadiyyat.
Because he accepted Ahmadiyyat after his own research, he was a deeply practising Ahmadi. His love and reverence for Khilafat were immense. He always remained firmly attached to Khilafat and advised his children to do the same, especially in times of difficulty, urging them to write to the Khalifa of the Time.
He had no desire for office or rank; rather, he once wrote to me saying: “Appoint me wherever you see fit. I am ready for any service.” He is survived by his wife, three sons, and several grandchildren.
May Allah the Almighty bestow His forgiveness and mercy upon him.
The second mention is of Respected Saleema Zahid Sahiba, the wife of Samiullah Zahid Sahib, a missionary currently serving in Canada. She also passed away recently:
[“Surely, to Allah we belong and to Him shall we return.”]
She was a musiah, and is survived by her husband, one daughter, and three sons. One of her sons, Ataul Momin Zahid Sahib, is a missionary and a teacher at Jamia Ahmadiyya UK.
Ataul Momin Zahid Sahib’s father writes that, without exaggeration, his mother taught the Holy Quran to approximately sixty to seventy children. After her demise, the deceased continued this noble work and taught the Holy Quran. In fact, many people from the Ahl-e-Hadith and Ahl-e-Sunnah would openly acknowledge that it was she who taught their children the Holy Quran. He writes that she was very blessed and had a simple disposition, and was very loyal and sincere. She always served others and gave preference to the needy over her own self. Her son, Ataul Momin Zahid, states that even in times of hardship, she prioritised helping others rather than spending on herself.
May Allah the Almighty bestow His forgiveness and mercy upon her as well.
