BARGAIN! SHOP THANKS WAWA
Article & photo by Barb Fisher During this month of Thanksgiving once again our community has stepped up and contributed generously to filling our Food Bank shelves. Nick Veldt, Manager of The Bargain!Shop and pumped for the occasion, met an enthusiastic crowd of volunteer cart pushers who formed an impressive line of eight grocery carts filled with food items and toiletries bound for the depleting Food Bank shelves. Every year the Food Drive includes all 150 Bargain!Shop and Red Apple Stores nation-wide in their "Together We Care" initiative. This year over 14,500 items with an average of 700 items per store were collected. Every store chooses their own local charity partner to support, and filling the Food Bank
is an ongoing project that helps out families in need. The distinctive red building on Broadway simply known as "The Bargain!Shop" is a one-stop shopping experience. For each and every celebration interval, Nick and his staff get busy placing holiday goodies conveniently up front and centre, filling every nook and climbing high to the rafters leaving adequate room to navigate each row. There is just about everything you would want at your fingertips and what you can't find - just ask Nick. Be sure to check out the in-store details of the new program "Price Match Promise" starting soon. Nick was again amazed at the great community effort in their Food Bank drive, and thanks the customers for their generosity and his staff for their passion and commitment.
