YOUNG PEOPLE CLEAN UP CAVE PARK, AT KING FAISAL SPECIALIST HOSPITAL & RESEARCH CENTER

ALFAISAL ENGINEERING STUDENT WINS BEST PROJECT OF THE YEAR PRIZE AT QUEEN’S UNIVERSITY BELFAST

Aerospace Engineering Department at Queen’s University Belfast, in a ceremony held on 5th July 2013.

Reflecting the high quality of Alfaisal University students, Youssef won the Veryan Stephens Prize at QUB, which is awarded annually to the final year undergraduate student in aerospace engineering, who is judged to have completed the best project work for the year. Youssef was the only visiting student to win a prize in academic year 2012-2013. The prize was awarded by Dr. Mark Price, the Head of the Mechanical and

Youssef’s project focused on analysis of the dimensional changes of composite panels during the riveting process. The latter is a new technological process in the Aeronautical Industry, allowing the use of innovative materials which increase the efficiency of new commercial aircrafts. As every new material has its manufacturing problems, Youssef’s research puts forth many suggestions to help the industry to overcome some of these problems, by using intense numerical analysis of these composite panels before testing them

n March 29 th 2014, 11 youngsters provided a welcome contribution to the community by taking part in a “Cave Park Cleaning Project”. Dr. Shamayel Fahim Consultant, Department of Pathology at King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Center (KFSHRC) was responsible for this initiative, with the support of Dr. Baraa Alghalyini from Alfaisal University and members of the Gulf Family Medicine interest group (GFMIG).A team of 2 boys, 5 elementary school students and 4 middle school students embarked on this Project armed with rubber gloves and sacks for collecting rubbish. day cleaning the area and establishing a cleaner environment for visitors. During this “Clean Up”, the students learned how to work together as a team, irrelevant of ages, how to communicate effectively and ultimately how to respect their environment. The efforts by the Clean Up Team, GFMIG, Dr. Baraa Alghalyini and members of Alfaisal University, are seen as a huge example in contributing to the community and providing a sense of pride and achievement. With initiatives and volunteers like this, visitors can truly appreciate the parks and green spaces in Riyadh We commend her on the difference, she is willing to make in the community.
