Kiwanis Family Period: “Fall Into Fellowship” Fall is just around the corner, which means the season’s Kiwanis Family Period is “Fall Into Fellowship!” Plan a social with your Kiwanians and/or any other Kiwanis Family clubs in your area. Make sure you cater to the age groups that are attending, so that everyone is sure to have a good time. Organize a Bingo Night, complete with a tournament or multiple games of Bingo, and team up your members with Kiwanians and Key Clubbers. For all foodlovers, have everyone show off their cooking skills and plan a potluck dinner, picnic, or a cooking/ baking social. Plan a Kiwanis Family Olympics social or Crazy Kompetition-style event, where members of Kiwanis Family clubs are placed in teams with your Circle K members. During Halloween, have a costume contest or a pumpkin-carving contest and end the festivities with a cozy bonfire. Be a campus tour-guide for a day: give members a tour of your campus and invite them to great local restaurants and attractions. Other fun activities include a movie night, bowling, dodgeball, and Capture the Flag. Be sure to organize fun and creative socials that will bring your club closer to your awesome fellow Kiwanis Family clubs! -Kimi Wong (UCD)

The Shadow Program: Q&A Q: What is the Shadow Program?

CKI FUN FACT

A: The Shadow Program helps build stronger relations with the Kiwanis family by shadowing/mentoring. You can shadow any branch of the Kiwanis Family or have them shadow your club. Q: How do I get started?

Circle K originally started as a fraternity called Kappa Iota Phi.

A: First, contact the local club you want to shadow and set up dates and times. For example, if your club wants to shadow Kiwanis members, talk to your Kiwanis club and let them know that you are interested in implementing this program. Then, if both clubs are on board, you are ready to start advertising to your Circle K club. Shadowing is a great way to get to know your Kiwanians; in the long run, this program might also help you with future job offers. So go ahead and get started!
