BEACH SIDE PEDIATRICS
Biophilic Design

Concept
The Beach Side Pediatrics office in Milford, CT will be designed to reduce the stress and anxiety of children and parents. To achieve this, a connection with the natural environment using biophilic design attributes such as material connection with nature, dynamic and diffuse light, presence of water and visual connection with nature, will be incorporated. To create a familiar environment the design is inspired by the Milford beach boardwalk area, natural colors found on the beach, and natural daylight. The Office will create a healthy work environment for staff by focusing on reducing stress with biophilic design attributes and increasing collaboration.

The Outside Inn Young Adult Autism Center

Concept
The priority of The Outside Inn is to create a comfortable environment that empowers people with disabilities to live active, self-determined lives. Biophilic design is prevalent in The Outside Inn as it has many health benefits and calming attributes even for those who are neurotypical (Those without cognitive disabilities). Our design utilizes the psychological responses to natural colors, appealing to the sensory needs of those with ASD. The Outside Inn is centered around the flexibility room for easy access from any space. This also allows for easy way finding and circulation throughout the building, including direct access to the outdoor space. The private spaces are placed toward the back of the building ensuring outdoor access and acoustic privacy, allowing users to relax and decompress. The Outside Inn meets the needs of those with ASD, allowing them to excel and gain their independence. (This was a group project completed in collaboration with Mallory Rothweiler, Nicole Conca and Della Heiter. All revit renderings and floor plans were drafted by me.)

Landor and Fitch Corporate Office

LOBBY/ CAFE RENDERING
Concept
The new Landor and Fitch office located in East Village, San Diego, California will create a collaborative and healthy work environment for all employees and clients. By incorporating a semi open concept, team members will be able to collaborate with each other while also having personal work areas for individual work. To improve the overall health of all those using the space, strong consideration will be placed on access to daylight and connections to the natural environment using biophilic design. Bringing in the culture of San Diego will be accomplished by picking furniture and architectural forms found in the postmodern design style. The color palette will include burnt orange, turquoise, avocado and yellow as accent colors to connect back to the post modern style and promote the creativity needed for the work environment.
