Why Do You Need To Visit An Orthodontist? Visiting a dentist twice a year is essential to maintain our oral health. Regular visits to the dentist can prevent us from contracting harmful oral diseases, oral cancer, and can also tell us about any signs of damage that can bother us later. An orthodontist is a specialist who specializes in fixing bite and jaw irregularities. Listed below are reasons for visiting an orthodontist. Teeth straightening- Often, people have crooked teeth, which makes us look physically unattractive and can cause difficulty in eating. It can also affect our self-esteem and prevent us from smiling with our teeth out. However, an orthodontist can fix this issue easily, ensuring we are ‘all smiles’.  Gaps- Sometimes, we have natural spaces between our teeth. We might also lose a tooth or teeth during an accident. In such a situation, the other teeth start to space out, causing infection and toothache. This problem, too, can be solved by visiting an orthodontist.  Overcrowded teeth- Sometimes, one tooth overlaps the other, or people have more teeth in their mouth, which can cause longterm gum and dental problems. An orthodontist can fix this issue by extracting the tooth or asking you to put on braces. 

Bite issues- Some people can suffer from a bite condition called a malocclusion or a misaligned bite. This can disfigure a person’s face along with causing difficulty in eating and vanity issues. It can have severe effects, such as speech problems can be a cause of headaches too.

Overbite happens when the upper teeth stick out too far beyond the lower teeth. It is caused by the shape and size of the jaw or the teeth. In infants and children, habits like thumb sucking, the use of pacifiers and bottles can lead to the development of this issue. Other causes can include genetics, nail-biting, and temporomandibular joint dysfunction. 

The lower teeth extend outward farther than the upper front teeth in an underbite, thus giving a bulldog-like appearance.

An open bite happens when the upper and the lower front teeth slant outwards and do not touch when the mouth closes.

A crossbite occurs when the upper teeth fit behind the lower teeth when the mouth is closed.

Teeth grinding- Teeth grinding is a condition when the upper and lower teeth grind against each other voluntarily. These problems can be solved by visiting the Best Orthodontics.
