The team at Bourne

No one understands the charm and character of our historic market town and its picturesque surrounding villages quite like the team at Winkworth Bourne. With over 50 years of combined experience, we take pride in matching people with their perfect homes – whether it’s a charming cottage nestled in a pretty village, a stylish town property, or a countryside retreat in the rolling Lincolnshire landscape.

Our deep-rooted local knowledge and passion for property mean we do more than just sell homes – we help people find a lifestyle that truly suits them. From bustling town life to the tranquillity of rural living, we’re here to guide you every step of the way.

You’ve been in the property industry for many years – what first drew you to it, and what keeps you passionate about the job?

I’ve been in the industry for almost 40 years now. What started out as just a job quickly became something I genuinely enjoyed. I love the variety, the people, and the fact that no two days are ever the same. Whether I’m handing keys to a first-time buyer or helping someone into their first rental, it’s always exciting to be part of that journey.

What makes the Bourne property market unique – and how does your experience help buyers and sellers navigate it?

Bourne offers the perfect balance – beautiful countryside, excellent schools, and a strong sense of community. Having worked across both lettings and sales, I’ve developed a well-rounded understanding of the local market. I know what to look out for, what to advise on, and how to help people make the best choices. I always aim to keep things clear and honest – that’s what clients really value.

What do you think sets Winkworth apart from other agents in the area?

We’re a genuinely local team, but we also have the strength of the Winkworth name behind us. Everyone here cares deeply about doing a good job – it’s not just about ticking boxes. We want our clients to have a positive, memorable experience, and I think that really shows.

What’s your top tip for a stress-free move?

Plan ahead, stay organised, label everything - and keep the kettle handy! Most importantly, don’t be afraid to lean on your agent. That’s what we’re here for.

Are you team ‘dream renovation project’ or ‘ready to move in”?

Definitely dream renovation. I love spotting the potential in a property and seeing it come to life.

What’s your approach when helping clients buy or sell their home?

Being completely open and honest. Clear, concise advice is key – clients need accurate facts and figures to make important decisions. We make sure they feel fully informed at every stage. With over 30 years’ experience, I’m well placed to guide them through the process with confidence.

Can you share a recent success story that captures what Winkworth Bourne is all about?

We recently worked with a local client who had lost three buyers while listed with another agent. They were understandably fed up. After switching to us, we completely refreshed the marketing with professional photography and a new strategy. Within two weeks, we had secured a new buyer and helped them find a bungalow in town. The whole sale completed within 10 weeks. That’s what makes this job so worthwhile.

How does being a Partner influence how you work with clients?

It’s not just a job – it’s a way of life. Clients can reach me seven days a week, and I take real pride in delivering results. I’m fully invested in every client’s experience and always go the extra mile to help them achieve their goals.

If someone were moving to Bourne for the first time, what would you tell them about the area?

Bourne is a welcoming town with excellent amenities – including a renowned grammar school, open-air swimming pool, leisure centre, Tesco and M&S. It’s also well connected, with easy access to Peterborough and direct trains to London King’s Cross.

Who’s most likely to bring cake into the office - and what’s the team favourite?

Millie - without a doubt! And to be honest, we’ll take anything cake-related.

What do you enjoy most about your role?

Definitely meeting lots of different people and helping them through what can be one of the most stressful experiences in life. Being able to make that journey a bit easier – and even enjoyable – is really rewarding.

You’re often the first point of contact. How do you help buyers and sellers feel at ease from the start? I try to be a sounding board – someone they can talk to about anything, good or bad. I think that helps people feel more relaxed and makes the process less daunting.

How do you stay up to date with the local property market?

I’m on Rightmove every day – of course! But I also speak regularly with local agents, surveyors and mortgage brokers. It gives me a well-rounded picture of what’s happening and helps me offer better advice to clients.

What’s a local hidden gem everyone should know about?

Wellhead Park – it’s a peaceful green space tucked right in the centre of town. I often take my lunch there. It’s the perfect little escape in the middle of a busy day.

Top tip for a stress-free move? Choose a good local solicitor who knows the area. Online options might seem cheaper, but you’ll often pay for it in added stress and delays.
