Characteristics of a Mad World Unit Covered: Unit 9 - Characteristics and Contexts in Media and Comunication Learning Outcome 1: 1.1, 1.2 and 2: 2.1, 2.2 and 3: 3.1, 3.2 Project Start: 04/09/17 Project Deadline: 20/10/17 Project Aim and Scenario This project will allow you to develop a focused and in-depth understanding of the characteristics required to work within the games development industry, primarily how to interpret a live brief. By the end of this project you will develop a realistic understanding how you would contribute towards developing a project within the games industry, critically assessing your own strengths and abilities and the outcomes that you produce. Project Brief: An up and coming games company is developing a game that has an post-apocalyptic theme. As a member of the team you have been tasked with contributing design ideas for the game to establish how the world ended and what humanity needs to do to survive. There are many potential real and imagined causes of a post-apocalyptic world. Currently, the world is struggling with environmental issues and global warming through extreme weather conditions such as earthquakes, hurricanes and flooding. There are political tensions and unrest in the Middle East, Africa and South East Asia that threatens peace and stability. A postapocolyptic world could also emerge as the result of a zombie out break, or virus that changes the nature of humanity. You will be required to submit research, development logs, a final piece and an evaluation of your project process including peer feedback. Your final piece can be in the form of: • • • •
