World Language Sterling Scholar 2021 Mountain Crest High School

Leadership: Hyrum City Queen 2020: I was the Hyrum City Queen for 2020 Unfortunately, I did not have the opportunity to do a lot with my position due to the pandemic, but it was an extremely important time in my life.

Leadership:

Mountain Crest Club Representative: I was elected to be The Club Representative for Mountain Crest High School for the 2020-2021 school year. With this responsibility, I have planned activities, been involved with many school activities, and have helped the rest of the student government in any programs they have planned.

Ballet: Ballet has been a part of my life since I was three. Since then I have been a member of three companies and a dancer in about a dozen shows. Some of my favorite shows have been The Nutcracker, The Wizard of Oz, and Alice in Wonderland.

Theatre:

After years of ballet, I decided to try out for a school theatre production of Oliver! I was cast as a main dancer. Doing this, I met a ton of new people and learned new dance forms. I had to learn the responsibility of having a dance partner and relying on them for support and allowing them to do the same.

Writing: Writing has been such a huge part of my life. Ever since seventh grade, I knew I wanted to write to help people. I have been published three times, twice by the Herald Journal and once by Her View from Home. I got first place in the Hyrum Library Writing Contest and the Teen Utah Writers Summit First Chapter competition. I got second place in the Logan library writers competition and was able to attend many writer’s conferences held there.

Community Service: Community service has been very important in my life, most especially my small town Hyrum, Utah. Last year, I was able to volunteer every Wednesday at the Hyrum Library. Not too soon after that is when everything shut down, but I am so grateful I was able to do what I could.

Another activity that has been very beneficial for me and others has been serving with Days for Girls. Days for Girls is an incredible organization that creates “period packs” for girls in third world countries who cannot go to school because of this. Making these packs was such an incredible experience.

Spanish: Spanish is one of the most important aspects of my life. With my experience with Spanish, I have been able to lead clubs, learn the culture, and even teach classes. Because of this passion, I hope to one day teach Spanish so that every student can have these same experiences and opportunities.
