Coaching provides a reflective space where individuals can explore how to achieve goals relating to the challenges and opportunities they face, whether it be; responding to or managing change, dealing with difficult people or managing conflict in the workplace. With the help of a skilled coach, people can explore how to get motivated and have a greater impact as a worker, manager or leader. Workshop objective: This twohour free workshop is for anyone who wants to learn more about coaching and how the effective use of coaching skills can help individuals determine how to set goals and realise their potential as well as the objectives of the organisation.

We will

explain how mindfulness works and why it is recommended to improve health and wellbeing, focus and creativity. We will answer any questions you have about mindfulness in general and about our courses. There will be a handout summarising what we covered in the session.

Body Dysmorphic Disorder is a serious condition that has widespread prevalence and is often diagnosed. The symptoms are often trivialised by friends and family even although high rates of suicidal ideation and completed suicide are reported among sufferers. Because of their concerns about their appearance nearly all individuals with BDD experience impaired psychosocial functioning ranging from moderate (e.g. avoidance of some social situations) to extreme and incapacitating (e.g. being completely housebound, sometimes for years). A high proportion of adults and adolescents suffering from BDD have been psychiatrically hospitalised.

The workshop is suitable for any practitioner wanting to have a greater understanding of BDD, and how it can be effectively treated. It will provide an introduction to the theory and application of CBT for BDD. It will cover assessment, case formulation and will address some of the issues therapists may encounter in their work with BDD. The workshop includes both theory and skills practice.

5. Working with Shame and Vulnerability (Edinburgh) Date: Saturday 30th April 2016, 9:30-5pm Cost: £85-£95 Venue: Physis Training Ltd , Edinburgh

About: This workshop will explore the theory and practice of working with Shame and Vulnerability in the therapeutic process, the origins of shame and the maintenance of shaming processes in relationships, alongside the potential for healing that can be found in developing “resilient vulnerability”. Aims: To enable participants to feel confident in exploring and processing Shame and Vulnerability in their work with clients.

Learning Outcomes: Understand how to create safety and containment for this kind of therapeutic work. Gain insights into the reasons for Shame and Vulnerability becoming key issues in therapy. Explore and understand your own experience of Shame and Vulnerability in the therapy room – yours and your clients. Develop confidence in facilitating work with shame Consider the role of the therapist’s shame and vulnerability in the therapeutic process. Course Structure: The day will be a mix of theory and experiential work, including personal reflection and small group work.

We will include theory and material from TA, Gestalt and other modalities alongside a consideration of the roles of Shame and Vulnerability from a spiritual and humanistic perspective.
