It all started about 19 years ago, When I was 5 years old my parents brought me a barbie set and the barbies I had was everything to me as a little girl. I played with them all day long and played dress up. My mother told me she noticed how creative I was when styling my dolls. One day my mother told me that I came up to her and said that I want to be a fashion designer when I grow up.

As I grew older as a Dominican Latin women, my parents especially my mother wanted me to be an essential worker like a lawyer or a doctor. For a few years I was in a constant battle with my mom expressing to her that fashion was always my passion and deep down she knew that. I soon realized that the Hispanic culture believes that to live a good life you need to go to college to become successful and major in the medical field or go to law school. However the realty is that this effects thousands of children who are forced to believe this ideology like myself. I sat my parents down and explained to my parents that I will go to college and prove them wrong and get my degree in fashion. And that is exactly what I did and It was my first accomplishment of my life.

In late April, 2022 I had my first car accident at 23 years old a week before graduation. Shortly after on June 6th 2022, I had a near death experience due to a domestic accident and ended up in the hospital getting surgery which led to months of healing, physically and mentally. Those moments were the hardest times of my life and I know that I still have more to experience. The challenges I faced taught me to be resilient and opened my mind to see life in a different perspective. While battles with depression are never easy, I found strength in my loved ones to keep going and strive, they never gave up on me.

Eventually down the road, I had a better connection with my mother and for the first time in my life she understood that this is what I want to do for the rest of my life, design garments. I will always love my parents no matter what because at the end of the day I am the women I am today because of my mother and father who raised me to be a strong and independent women.

May 24th 2023 was the day I finally did something for myself to create my own clothing line. Attending Hocking College was the best decision of my life. I learned so much and also made many mistakes and learned from them. I would not be here today designing if it weren’t for the incredible instructors who are amazing and motivational who taught me how to network and most importantly how to navigate as a designer in the fashion industry. They inspired me to continue with my path and to never stop believing in myself. I will always appreciate everything they did for me.

My vision for my brand is to create Avant grade designs that are theatrical and couture with bright colors, neutral tones and dark rich colors. When women wear my designs they will feel unstoppable, empowered and confident. It is crucial for me to be transparent about my brand and where my materials are coming from. I offer designer high quality materials from vendors who have the same values as me which is sustainability and longevity. I want to be the next designer to end fast fashion and to normalize recycled clothes.
