Civil Liability Insurance

MemberspracticingintheUnitedKingdomarerequiredtosubscribetoSTAT’sgroupCivilLiability insurance.

Acopyoftheinsurancecertificatecanbefoundontheinsurancepageofthemembers’sectionofthe STATwebsite here. Thecertificateisvalidfrom1stJanuaryofthecurrentyearuntil31stDecember inclusive. Ifyouneedapersonalisedcertificate,pleasecontacttheSTATofficeon stat@alexandertechnique.co.uk

TheinsurancecoverincludesPublicLiabilityandProfessionalIndemnity. Thepurposeofthecoveris toprotectateacheragainstclaimsmadeagainstthemfornegligence.

Inadditionwehavenowpurchasedextrainsurancecoverfortheprotectionofourmemberstoinclude afreelegaladvicehelplineandlegalexpensescoverupto£25,000incertaincircumstances.

Risk Assessment

PleasebeawarethatitisaconditionoftheSTATinsurancethatSTATmemberscarryoutarisk assessmentatanypremiseswhereyoumaybeteaching.

Ifyouareworkinginpremisesthatyoudonotownorrentthenitisimportantthatyoucheckoutwhat insurancecoverisalreadyinplaceandthatyouareclearastowhereyourresponsibilitiesbeginand endsothatyouknowwhatyouareriskassessing.

ThereiscurrentlynorequirementtoreturnanyformtotheSTATofficebutyouareadvisedtokeepa completedriskassessmentforyourrecords.

Continuing Professional Development

InthemajorityofprofessionsthereisaneedforContinuingProfessionalDevelopment.

Asamemberofaprofessionalorganisationyouhavearequirementtokeepabreastofdevelopments relatingtotheAlexanderTechniqueandyourpractice. AsaSTATmemberyouarerequiredtokeepCPD recordsand,ifrequested,tobeabletoprovideSTATwithevidenceofyourCPDactivities.

TheCPDyearrunsalongsideyourmembershipyearandyouarerequiredtocompleteaminimumof20 CPDhourseachyear.

Joining the CNHC (Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council)

AsaSTATmember,STATcanverifythatyoumeettherequirementsforCNHCregistration.

RegisteringwiththeCNHCiscompletelyvoluntaryandisachoiceforeachindividualteacher;itdoes notaffectyourindividualSTATmembership.
