ALEX LIU 劉 洋

MULTICULTURAL | MULTIDISCIPLINARY | MULTIDIMENSIONAL
With extensive experience living, studying, and working across multiple countries and regions of the United States, I bring a deep understanding of both Eastern and Western cultures. As a multilingual professional and avid international traveler, I thrive in diverse environments and excel at collaborating with people from various cultural backgrounds.
My academic journey spans architecture (freshman+senior year of undergrad), urban planning (BA degree), landscape architecture (MA degree), environmental planning (1 semester of gradschool+1 semester TA), and urban design (1 semester of gradschool), giving me a well-rounded perspective on the built environment. With nearly 7 years at HOK, I have worked closely with interdisciplinary teams of architects, planners, and engineers, contributing to innovative and holistic design solutions.
I have experience across firms of all sizes - from boutique studios to large-scale international firms - allowing me to adapt seamlessly to different work environments. My expertise includes a wide range of design software and methodologies, supporting projects from concept to construction documentation. My portfolio spans small urban spaces, parks, and streetscapes to corporate campuses, neighborhood master plans, and city-scale resiliency initiatives. Passionate about design at every scale, I am dedicated to creating meaningful, sustainable, and impactful environments.
I am a goal-driven, highly organized, and detail-oriented creative with a passion for design. As an active communicator and team player, I thrive in collaborative environments and am eager to grow alongside an equally driven team. My aspiration is to take on increasing responsibilities and eventually lead projects from start to finish. I believe in open communication, positive reinforcement, and fostering a supportive workplace culture - contributing not just through my work but also by helping build an inspiring and motivated team environment.
