Basma Al Menhali is a project engineering manager with over 10 years’ experience in the oil and gas industry. She is considered as the first Emirati female mechanical engineer appointed by ADNOC Onshore in 2009. She overcomes the challenge and developed herself in the Rotating Equipment sector in a very short time. Exhibiting strong and effective teaching skills, Basma has conducted workshops for many UAE National junior engineers and mechanical engineering students from the UAE University. To share her experience and knowledge, she participated in the development of several training frameworks within ADNOC companies. She serves as a reference point for all technical issues in her specialty discipline.

Basma graduated from the UAE University in Al Ain with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, graduating with honors. Her graduation project was about designing a Thermo-Acoustic Refrigerator to prove that sound energy can be transformed to a thermal energy. Project grade was “Excellent” as it was the first of its kind in the Middle East Area.

Afterwards, she joined ADNOC Onshore as a Mechanical Engineer where she was one of the fewest female engineers in the UAE’s oil and gas industry. This experience includes the following; Maintenance Reliability positions covering Reliability Centered Maintenance of compressors, steam turbines, gas turbines, diesel engines, pumps, electric motors, gearboxes, blowers, and fans for seven years. In addition, he has worked 20 years in engineering consulting for a major petroleum company specializing as a compressor, gears, couplings, and steam turbine specialist.
