Advice for new College Grads

Professional Appearance: Dress appropriately for the workplace. If in doubt, opt for business casual attire until you understand the office culture better.

Punctuality: Be on time for work, meetings, and deadlines. Arriving late can give a negative impression to colleagues and supervisors.

Respect for Others' Time: Be mindful of others' schedules. Avoid interrupting colleagues unless necessary, and always schedule meetings in advance when possible.

Communication: Maintain professional communication both verbally and in writing. Use proper grammar and tone in emails and other correspondence.

Active Listening: Pay attention during meetings and conversations. Practice active listening by asking questions and providing feedback when appropriate.

Teamwork: Collaborate effectively with colleagues. Be willing to contribute ideas, share credit, and assist others when needed.

Respect for Workspace: Keep your workspace clean and organized. Respect shared spaces such as conference rooms, kitchens, and common areas.

Terry Black’s BBQ

Terry Black's BBQ is a fantastic choice for those looking for great BBQ without the extensive wait. The brisket, turkey, and pork ribs are all highlights, with a perfect balance of smoke and seasoning. Their staple sides, creamed corn and pinto beans, are delicious. While it might not have the same cult following as Franklin's, it stands out as a solid and reliable BBQ joint in Austin.

The meat is perfectly smoked, and the sides, especially the beans and coleslaw, complement the main dishes well. Boundaries aren't just a buzzword—they're your secret weapon for maintaining sanity in this always-on world. Whether it's capping your workday at a sane hour, setting clear limits with loved ones, or mastering the art of saying "no" to nonessential commitments, defining your limits is crucial.

Keep leveling Up:

School might be done, but your career journey is just getting started. Dive into books and podcasts that sharpen your skills and broaden your horizons. Remember, there's more to your career than just the day-to-day tasks. Keep growing, keep learning!

Most importantly, try not to be too hard on yourself if you don't stick to your routine perfectly. Building a routine takes time and experimentation, and it's okay to adjust and refine along the way.
