Technology

At AESG Prep School, we recognise the vital role technology plays in enhancing education and preparing our pupils for a digital future We are proud to be an Apple Distinguished School, a distinction granted to schools that demonstrate innovation, leadership, and educational excellence through the use of technology.

This designation reflects our commitment to providing pupils with the best tools for learning and ensuring they are well-equipped for the demands of the 21st century.

Integrating Technology into Learning

Technology is integrated into our curriculum to create dynamic, engaging, and personalised learning experiences. Through the use of iPads and other digital tools, pupils have access to a wealth of resources that complement their traditional learning, allowing them to collaborate, explore, and develop their skills in new and exciting ways.

iPads in the Classroom

At AESG, we utilise iPads across various subjects to enhance pupil engagement and support individualised learning. Each pupil has access to an iPad, which they use to:

Access digital textbooks and resources: iPads allow pupils to interact with up-to-date learning materials, explore multimedia content, and complete assignments.

Collaborate with peers: Pupils can easily collaborate on projects, share documents, and communicate with teachers and classmates in real-time

Develop digital skills: Through the use of apps and educational software, pupils build valuable skills in problem-solving, creativity, and critical thinking.

Digital Citizenship

While we embrace the use of technology in the classroom, we also emphasise the importance of being responsible digital citizens.

We encourage students to:

Use technology respectfully: Pupils are taught to use digital tools responsibly, with respect for others and a focus on learning.

Follow online safety protocols: We educate pupils on the importance of privacy, protecting personal information, and behaving appropriately online Balance screen time: We encourage girls to maintain a healthy balance between screen time and other activities, promoting physical activity and social interaction.

Mobile Phones

Girls in The Prep are not permitted to have a mobile phone in school unless they travel via the bus or walk in Year 6 or Year 6. Phones must then be handed into the class teacher and will be returned at the end of the day.

#BeMore

At Alderley Edge School for Girls, we believe in the potential of every girl to thrive and achieve her best. Our ethos is built around the idea of empowering girls to “BeMore” to not only excel academically, but to develop the skills, character, and mindset that will enable them to succeed in every aspect of their lives.

In today’s world, success is not defined by technical knowledge alone Educators and employers agree that certain “soft skills” play a pivotal role in shaping an individual’s journey to success, whether in school, the workplace, or beyond.

These skills, often called emotional intelligence or personal attributes, are essential in cultivating confident, adaptable, and driven individuals. At Alderley Edge School for Girls, we have created a framework of eight key attributes that we believe every pupil should develop to set her on the path to a bright and fulfilling future.

Real-Life Opportunities to Develop #BeMore

We believe that developing these attributes is just as important as mastering academic subjects. That’s why we offer a wealth of real-life opportunities for our pupils to grow and flourish in all eight areas. From leadership roles to creative projects, collaborative group work to exciting competitions, our pupils are given ample opportunities to practice, refine, and strengthen their #BeMore attributes.

Our Eight #BeMore Attributes

The eight attributes that form the foundation of our #BeMore programme are:

Responsible

Understanding the importance of accountability and taking ownership of one ’ s actions, choices, and impact on others and the world.

Resilient

Developing the ability to bounce back from setbacks, embrace challenges, and maintain a positive attitude in the face of adversity.

Reflective

Cultivating the habit of self-reflection, encouraging critical thinking, and constantly seeking ways to improve both personally and academically

Resourceful

Becoming adept at using available resources creatively, solving problems efficiently, and finding innovative solutions to challenges.

Collaborative

Building the ability to work effectively in teams, appreciate diverse perspectives, and contribute positively to group dynamics and outcomes

Curious

Nurturing a passion for learning, asking questions, and developing a mindset that embraces discovery and continuous growth.

Creative

Encouraging the ability to think outside the box, embrace creativity, and use imagination to overcome obstacles and find new opportunities.

Communicative

Developing strong communication skills, both verbal and non-verbal, to express ideas clearly, listen actively, and engage with others in meaningful ways. These eight attributes are not just theoretical concepts They are embedded in every aspect of school life at Alderley Edge, helping pupils to cultivate essential life skills while pursuing academic success

School Life

At AESG Prep School, we believe in empowering our pupils to take on leadership roles, contribute to the school community, and develop valuable skills that will benefit them for years to come.

There are a variety of opportunities for girls to get involved in school life, enabling them to make a positive impact and grow as individuals By participating in these programs, girls can become role models, promote positive change, and help foster a caring and supportive environment at AESG.

Digital Leader

As technology plays an important role in our school, being a Digital Leader offers an exciting opportunity for girls passionate about tech to take on a leadership role. Digital Leaders help promote responsible and creative use of technology, assist classmates with using devices and educational apps, and share their knowledge of digital tools with others This role helps build leadership skills while encouraging digital responsibility, creativity, and collaboration.

School Council

The School Council provides girls with the chance to represent their peers and have a voice in the decisions that shape their school experience. Elected members of the School Council work closely with staff and leadership teams to address student concerns, organise school-wide initiatives, and plan events that benefit the entire school community This role is ideal for girls who want to learn more about leadership, teamwork, and how to make a real difference in school life.

Diana Award Anti-Bullying Ambassador

The Diana Award Anti-Bullying Ambassador program offers girls the opportunity to become ambassadors for kindness and inclusion. Anti-Bullying Ambassadors are trained to promote a positive school culture, identify and prevent bullying, and offer support to those in need. By becoming an ambassador, girls help raise awareness about bullying, provide peer support, and create a safe, respectful environment where everyone feels accepted. This is an important role that encourages leadership, resilience, and a commitment to making the school a better place for all students

Eco Angels

For girls passionate about the environment, the Eco Team is a fantastic way to get involved. Members of the Eco Team work to raise awareness about sustainability, lead initiatives to reduce waste, and promote eco-friendly practices throughout the school. They may help organise events such as recycling drives, planting trees, or encouraging the use of sustainable resources This role allows girls to make a tangible impact on the environment while developing teamwork and problem-solving skills.

Behaviour

At AESG Prep School, we are committed to creating a positive, respectful environment where all pupils can thrive. Our behaviour expectations aim to encourage respect, responsibility, and a positive attitude toward learning and relationships.

Respect for Others

Pupils are expected to treat everyone with kindness and courtesy, including classmates, teachers, and staff. They should listen attentively, celebrate differences, and show empathy for others.

Respect for School Property

Pupils must care for school property, such as books, equipment, and the school environment, and be considerate of shared spaces.

Pupils should approach school with a positive mindset, demonstrate resilience, and be honest in their actions. Politeness, good manners, and a friendly attitude are expected at all times.

Courtesy and Consideration

Promoting a Positive School Community

Pupils should promote inclusivity, look out for others, and set an example through positive behaviour

Consequences for Misbehaviour

If behaviour doesn’t meet expectations, appropriate consequences will be applied, with opportunities for reflection and improvement.

By following these expectations, pupils contribute to a supportive and respectful environment, helping them grow both academically and personally We trust our pupils will embrace these values and contribute positively to our school community.

Through Seesaw, parents can view photos, updates, class activities, and student work in real time, giving them insight into what their child is learning and how they are progressing. It also allows for direct communication with teachers, making it easy to stay informed and involved in their child’s education

The nurse also works closely with parents to support children’s health needs, administers medications as needed, and helps create a safe and healthy environment for learning.

Additionally, the school nurse may provide health education, promote good hygiene practices, and help with any concerns regarding the physical or mental wellbeing of students.

Medicines
