Lead Peer Mentor

The Lead Peer Mentor manages the team of Peer Mentors and effectively delegates Peer Mentors to appropriate students. They also liaise with relevant staff and provide feedback from Peer Mentors after mentoring sessions.

Responsibilities:

• Inspire the students in the school to ‘Aspire not to have more, but to be more’.

• Establish good communication between teachers and other students.

• Support and encourage new Year 7 students in their adjustment to AESG and the expectations of the school in general.

• Provide support for young people who might be isolated and lack selfconfidence.

• Offer appropriate advice and guidance by signposting students to available help and support.

• Help mentees to manage time, plan and organise work.

• Through one-on-one interactions and group meetings, act as a knowledgeable guide for all students, a thoughtful facilitator who provides access to people and resources and, ultimately, a role model and success advocate.

• Develop and maintain a peer relationship focused on helping students.

• Supervise drop-in advice workshops available to mentees.

• Participate in training, programs and activities to ensure they can fulfil the role.

• Monitor and respond to the anonymity board.

• Ensure all safeguarding requirements are constantly adhered to. Any concerns should be reported to cwood@aesg.co.uk

• Meet mentees regularly at agreed times to support them.
