The Church of God A. J. Tomlinson, The Last Great Conflict

There is a growing tendency in the minds of the Christian people of today to be more favorably impressed with the Church of God. There is at work an undercurrent, unobserved by the masses, like the electrical current on the wire, which, when properly constructed, connected and utilized, will enable people to understand one another who have been far apart in their teachings of the Bible. The Spirit is doing His work, and is working where we might least expect.

Not a few are looking for the real Bible Church to make her appearance who have never heard of the “Church of God” as some of us know her. In the atmosphere seems to be floating an influence that is preparing and moving people unconsciously in the same direction. Sectarian prejudices are crumbling and vanishing under this mightily enormous religious combinations. But few, and probably none of these instigators know of the undercurrent or influence that is at work, neither do they understand the purport of such actions, but it is God wielding His mighty scepter preparing the people for the Bible church–the Church of God. The unrest, the dissatisfaction, the low murmuring, and in many instances the unexpressed feelings that lie buried beneath the vaults of expression, all tell the story of the fulfillment of prophecy that the wise, spoken by Daniel, can understand. There is a deep hunger and longing in the heart of every child of God, whether known or unknown, that nothing will ever satisfy but the revelation of the Bible church and the unity and oneness of God’s people. To this end is the Spirit working. To this end is the unobserved undercurrent making tremendous strides. No matter about the present day appearances or how much this very article or teaching may be oppose. He will bring it to pass Jesus was laid in the tomb and the stone was laid on the mouth and sealed, and a guard placed around it, and the appearance was anything else than for Him to come forth and live; but He came forth with the same body, bearing the very same scars and marks that He had when taken down from the cross and placed therein. He that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus is able, and will bring back again the original Church, bearing the very same scars (persecutions), and marks (signs), that she had when taken down from her promontory soon after the last Apostle surrendered his life for her.

The Church is the body of Christ (Col. 1:24), then no surprise if she follow her Lord into obscurity and then make her appearance again. Jesus appeared to Mary, then to Peter and the two as they walked to Emmaus, then to the eleven as they sat at meat, and finally to five hundred brethren at one time. The church is now appearing to a few, but some of these are like the disciples, who at one time did not know Jesus, they do not know the church. Not a few are now confusing her with other churches, but she is not like other churches in many respects.

W e have been grieved at times when we have known of some of the members having the common church principles so imbibed in their natures that they expect and urge the same to be effective in the Church of God. The rules and plans used in the common churches of the day would unbalance and deface the Church of God. Our officers and members should act very cautious, and seek for and use great wisdom, lest her visage should be marred and she “wounded in the house of her friends.”

The overseers, bishops, deacons and entire membership should not pattern after the same order in other churches, but should seek for wisdom and instruction from God, and His W ord as to duties and responsibilities. There is a tendency in the human, when placed in honored positions, to feel and act their importance. This is commonly known or expressed as dignity. There is and should be in every child of God a degree of real true dignity, but not white-washed or selfish so-called dignity.

The church with its combination of humility, meekness, splendor and glory is observed by only a few at present, but soon she will be revealed to thousands. Hallelujah! At this present time she is ranked alongside with other churches in the minds, of many, and from a lack of knowing her perfectly by some of the members themselves, is sometimes a cause for some little friction and division; but as the members become more acquainted with her and her laws and rules these disturbances will vanish from sight.

Men who have been accustomed to dictating in other churches, or under the rules of other churches, expect the same course to be pursued in the Church of God, and all these imperfections hinder the progress and bestowment of God’s power to an extent, but when she assumes perfect order and is free from the opinions and dictatorial tendencies of man great things will be accomplished.

Notice that picture of the original Church as outlined in the Acts of the Apostles and placed in a nutshell in Solomon’s Song 6:10" “W ho is she that looketh forth as the morning, fair as the moon, clear as the sun, and terrible as an army with banners.” Did not the Church, fresh from the hands of Him who said, “Upon this rock I will build my church,” look forth in the morning of the gospel age? W as she not as fair as the moon shining forth her light and soft silvery rays into the darkness of the time? W asn’t her light borrowed from Jesus Christ her head, as the moon borrows her light from that great luminary called the sun? Did she not burst forth as the sun, sending out both light and heat (knowledge and power), until it could be said of her that she was “clear as the sun,” until she

was seen by all who were not wilfully blind, and did not even they feel her searching rays of “influence?

W ith all the miracles, manifestations of power; her wonderful increase daily and rapid progress until it was said, “.... These that have turned the world upside down are come hither also,” (quoted from Acts 17:6), could it not be well said of her, “And terrible as an army with banners.”

Then, as if the winter blasts had come, and the fervency had been chilled by the coldness and blackness of the “dark ages,” and the body (the Church) lying silent in the tomb, the seer, apparently with a hope of seeing some signs of life and a resurrection of the body (the Church) says, “I went down into the garden of nuts to see the pomegranates budded.” (Cant. 6:11). As he was in active seeking for the signs of life, or a search after truth, all of a sudden, as though by magic, light dawned, and the seer could see, like the passing of a panorama before him, the outline of what was to come to pass, and burst forth with an exclamation of mingled surprise and joy expressed in Cant. 6:12. “Or ever I was aware, my soul made me like the chariots of Amminadib,” and he was brought to his senses, an suddenly a sense of high aspiration seized hold of him as he cried out, “Return, return, O Shulamite; return, return, that we may look upon thee.” Then, as if in comparison with the conditions illustrated in the tenth verse as she first sprang into view, in answer to the question “W hat will ye see in the Shulamite?” remarked with deep thought and magnified prospects, “As it were the company of two armies.”

The explanation is apparent, the comparison is clear. The cry is now by thousands of lovers of truth for the return of the early Apostolic Church with all her former glory, power and results. Searchers after truth in the valley of humiliation have suddenly been encouraged and amazed at the Spirit and Scriptures have revealed to them the fact that she is going to return with all her gifts and graces, power and glory, and instead of being as she was at the first, in respect to magnitude and sublimity she will be double. “As it were the company of two armies.” Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Rings out from the vortex of emotions, jubilant, triumphal expression in every lover of God as they comprehend and behold even a shadow of this glorious glaring truth.

The cries and groans for Apostolic methods, practices and glory will be realized in the near future. There has been a slight lull, and many have grown a little cold and lost a little in zeal and courage, but listen–there is a sound of an abundance of rain. The church that is already in existence is now being refreshed. The members are now receiving a new impetus. The Seventh Annual Assembly was wonderful. More light is showing, and revealing hidden treasures every year. Man’s ways and plans are fading from view. God’s ways and plans are being revealed.

Soon will be heard the startling sound of tramp, tramp, tramp, as the “company of two armies” go marching through the land into every city, town, plain and jungle, heralding the last message: “Fear God and give glory to Him (Rev 15: 6,7), until this gospel of the kingdom is preached in all the world.”

The building time has come and is almost over; soon, and very soon will the flowers of Pentecost burst wide open and radiate their fragrant perfume into the nostrils of the lovers of truth, until their attention will be attracted so that they will look for the source from which such fragrance comes, and there to their surprise and delight they will see flowers of Pentecost wide open, which, while they gaze, will suddenly fade away and give place to fruitage.

The gifts are for the church and they will make their appearance in their fullness and glory as soon as she is freed from the power and dictations of man, and he to whom she is espoused bears full sway and His laws and orders are fully obeyed in all her departments.

The teaching must be right, and taught by men who are right; those who measure to the qualifications laid down in the Bible.

The lives of the members must be pure and holy. The finances must be gathered and handled properly. The entire Church must be robed in garments of salvation separate from the world and unmixed with selfish motives and ambitions. Behold her as she is drawing nearer. Keep looking until you see her original Glory and Power.

If you’ll only look, you’ll see The Church that gives you liberty; Tongues of fire upon you sent, And with the glory you’ll be content.

Behold her in her bright array, And see her there as plain as day; All decked with jewels rich and rare, And shining gems so bright and fair.

Alexander City: The Children’s Church were honored with a Valentine’s Banquet on Saturday, February 15th. Some of the children invited their friends. The Parents decorated and volunteered the food.

It was a wonderful success. Our Ladies’ Ministries had a cookie recipe swap along with a devotion and games by Amy Peters.

Everyone enjoyed the day.

Alton: A fantastic, fruitful February!!!

Alton’s Mission Is to Grown Spiritually and in Unity by Continually Striving to Be More like Christ and Staying in His Presence.

Because of our Mission, together with January’s 21 Days of Fasting we have seen so many fruits and blessings from our Savior.

Two new members from covenant: Andrew Stronge and Maria Harding; three saved: Joe and Jerah Murphree and Wendy Phillips; five baptized in water: Maria Harding, Joe and Jerah Murphree, Callie Richardson and Luke Stronge. We have experienced an outpouring of blessings and absolute miracles! Families reunited after 30 years!

Healings of oppression and depression, physical and spiritual healings!

We serve an awesome God and we are so grateful for His love.

Browntown: We had a

great month at Browntown.

On Saturday, February 22, the church hosted a bridal shower for Miss Caitlin Tanner. We also, enjoyed a Valentine party for the children this month where we celebrated the Love of God. Chickasaw: We had a busy and cold month. We are so looking forward to Spring Time.

The Breaking Chains continue to minister to several churches in the area. The Lord is opening doors for them to reach out to our community.

What a blessing they are to us.

Our youth are still fired up from Winter Conference.

It’s amazing to watch them grow in the Lord as they step up to their leadership roles. As we worship altogether the Lord has showered us with His blessings. The Lord has answered many special prayers and we are so grateful to Him. We are singing, “Look What The Lord Has Done”. We

see His hand in so many area as He works things out according to His will.

Our desire is to carry on until He comes!

Elba: We are praying for God to get us out of the way and His Divine propose be done at Elba.

Our God is Mighty and always on time.

Fayette-North Pointe: North Pointe was blessed by the youth this month as they served as waiters and w ai t res s es fo r o u r Sweetheart Banquet. The youth sold spaghetti dinner and earned tips towards upcoming youth camp fees and trips. Our youth continues to grow in numbers and spiritually.

North Pointe honored our pastor’s wife, Sister Anita Smalley, on her birthday showering her with many gifts in “Silver Boxes”.

We also honored Brother and Sister Smalley on their anniversary with a “Pinning Ceremony”.

Members of all ages participated in pinning cash or checks to them

with clothes pins.

Praise Report: A man needing a liver transplant received a liver and is in ICU. He needs continued prayer. Many have been sick and seeking the Lord for their healing. Our ladies are meeting every Sunday afternoon for prayer , devotion and Bible study.

Gordo: The church at Gordo celebrated “Valentine’s Day” with a banquet fit for a king. We all enjoyed a delicious meal and fellowship with one another. Thank you Kim!!!

Rev. James Wallace, former pastor of Gordo, was with us on February 16th for the a.m. and p.m. services. We all enjoyed having Brother Wallace with us and enjoyed the wonderful messages he brought to us and we look forward to having him again. On Sunday, February 23rd, we had a graduation ceremony from our Children’s Church Department with two graduates, Madison Smith and A. J. Burns. They were presented with Bibles with their names engraved on the front. We thank God for our children.

Greenpond: The windows of heaven are open and His blessings are flowing. Our services have been outstanding.

Souls are being saved,

some have rededicated their life and many have been healed.

Gail Donahoo was the guest speaker at our Ladies Day. “The Blood Does More Than save”, was the topic.

Sister Gail encouraged the ladies to let God search their hearts. The Spirit was awesome in this service. We were honored to have the Gideon representative speak to us.

We appreciate their dedication and hard work as they carry the Word around the world. Many souls are won to Christ through the Gideon Ministry.

The seniors enjoyed a night of fun at Lloyds Restaurant. It is a blessing to fellowship with God’s people.

Hackleburg: Our focus for 2014 is making disciples. Equipping and training flows through every department from Children’s Ministry, Youth Ministry, Growth Group Ministry and Stewardship Training.

We were inspired by the teaching of Sister Jan Couch ministering on “Giving and Debt-Free Living”. Her teaching is always transforming!

Growth Groups include teaching for Youth Bible Knowledge, Intercessory Prayer, Dave Ramsey Finance, and Couples Ministry. God is giving us fruit for our labors. We welcomed 6 new covenant members this month: Eric Jackson, Betty Jackson,

A l ex J a c k s o n , E l i Jackson, David Jones, and Cole Burks.

Jasper-Airport Road: We enjoyed a wonderful Valentine Banquet with an attendance of 40. New visitors that attended returned back for Sunday service. God is truly moving. To God be the glory!

Mentone: Recently, we had a Bible study and a young man surrendered his heart to Jesus. We studied I John chapters 1 and 2 and God’s Word spoke. The young man said he was searching for direction in his life. We explained that Jesus was the way, the truth, and the life and he dedicated his life to God. Please pray for this young man of 18 years of age. Awesome service! What a better time than now to be serving God! Tarrant: February was “Love Month” at Tarrant.

The youth enjoyed their trip to “Winter Jam” and the residents at the P res byt eri an Manor enjoyed their birthday party.

We ended the month with a Valentine Banquet for the young and old. Our services have been filled with the Holy Ghost. People coming forward to be prayed for and two ladies came forward to be saved and one man came to rededicate his life to the Lord. Praise the Lord!

Trinity Worship: We are

truly blessed by the Spirit of the Lord. We have people returning to our church who have been gone for one reason or another, and saying they are excited about what God is doing. New talent, music, two preachers have come our way. We are having the time of our life as we watch what our great God is doing in these last days.

True North Birmingham District Revival!

What can I say, but God was in the house each night of the revival.

Thursday, Sister Lyles, pastor at Tarrant, spoke on “Reaching Up”. We have to reach up with empty hands to be able to receive what God has for us. Friday, the pastor at Alton, Daniel Strong, preached an outstanding message on Jesus “Reaching In”. Dr. Pruitt, Pastor at Pinson, bought an outstanding message Saturday night at East Lake about allowing God to heal both spiritually and physically. Sunday night at Alton we ended our services, not the revival .

Brother Archie, pastor at East Lake, did an awesome job in letting us know we are to “Reach Out” to this lost and dying world. The attendance was great each night Thursday (60), Friday (85), Saturday (80) Sunday (98).

Harvest Partners Belarus Church in M insk On February 14 th we held a love theme evening for couples.

“Love for Life” was the title of it. The romantic atmosphere, some interviews, videos and fun were amid to give the couples time to rest and those in crisis to improve their relationships.

Larisa and I have shared from the W ord and also some practical ideas of successful marriage life. The couples had a good time and even danced a little. At the very end our church memb er-a great photographer, Lena Yarmolik, offered a family photo for e v e r yo n e -s o m e th ing so m e couples don’t get to do very often.

Church of Berezino In February, a first kid’s home group was o rga nized in Berezino. It’s for the kids who already are the members of FreeDOM (D O M -home in Russian) children’s ministry in church.

W e believe that drawing them closer and helping them to strengthen their relationship with us and each other can help them to become real followers of Jesus.

As for M ogilev we continue to reach those in crisis and need. Several men from church had a chance to participate in a conference organized for people who was in prison: it was a great opportunity for our people to be equipped to share the W ord of God with people in prison or coming out from prison.

Also, we had an outreach for the street people in the city. W e fed them and shared about Christ and God’s love to them. To influence villages around we have started some church home groups there.

Good News! Our very first rehabilitant from the center who serves as a home group leader, married a girl from a worship team---one more family in the church!

During this Lenten season, we were reminded that we are all dust and must remember that only the grace of God sustains our existence. W e will culminate the Lenten season with a Maundy Thursday service.

W e would like to invite all of the area pastors and congregations to a time of reflection on Jesus’ preparation for His death. This will include a solemn time of worship, teaching from the W ord, a feetwashing service, and communion. The service will be held on Thursday, April 17 th at 6 PM in the Harvest Center sanctuary.

W e hope you can join us at Harvest Center for this formative worship service which will anticipate Jesus’ death and resurrection. Pray for us as we continue our journey through the Christian calendar.

It is our desire to grow in our love and understanding of our beautiful Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Harvest Center is attempting to loosely follow the Christian calendar this year.

This is meant to be a teaching and discipleship tool. It is also an opportunity to emphasize the importance of the sacraments instituted by our Lord.

W e started the Christian calendar year in December with the traditional weekly advent observation.

In January, we observed the epiphany which highlights the wisemen’ revelation that Jesus is Lord of his birth. This took us into the season between seasons which is a time of waiting

CONSENT & RELEASE STATEMENT 1. In the event that I or my child named above becomes ill or is injured while under the supervision of Camp Boothe, I authorize camp authorities to do the following: a. Contact the parent / legal guardian of the camper (campers under the age of 18) and follow his/her instructions; b. In case of an emergency, when neither parent nor legal guardian can be reached immediately, camp authorities are authorized to use best judgment in contacting a physician or other health care provider and to authorize the provision of necessary medical, surgical, or other care; c. By this CONSENT, I appoint the proper camp authority as my attorney-in-fact for the purposes herein stated.

2. I give consent for my child to participate in all activities at Camp Boothe.

3. I am attaching any special instructions, in regard to my child's allergies, medications, or specific needs, to this form.

4. In consideration of Camp Boothe, Inc. making available Camp Boothe and for the other benefits that I or my child receive, I do hereby release and discharge The Church of God of Prophecy, Camp Boothe, Inc., Camp Boothe, its agenda, employees, and staff from all liability of any kind or nature, claim, demand or cause of action which might be asserted.
