Alberto Carretero studied Composition with the Extraordinary Award at the Higher Music Conservatory of Seville. He holds the Higher Degree of Computer Science Engineering with the Extraordinary Award from the University of Seville, the Higher Degree of History and Music Sciences, the Postgraduate Course of Composition and the Official Master in Creation and Music Performance. He has obtained the CajaMadrid - “Andaluces del Futuro” Prize, the "Injuve" Contemporary Music Composition Award, 2nd Antón García Abril Composition Award (Orchestra) and the "Real Maestranza" Award, handed over by The King of Spain. He has been finalist in the “Niccolò Castiglioni” Prize (Milano), “S.Fedele” Prize (Milano), and “Carmelo Bernaola” Prize (Madrid). He has worked in specialized international courses in Spain, France, Germany, Italy, Holland and Poland under the maestros Cristóbal Halffter, Luis de Pablo, José María Sánchez-Verdú, Mauricio Sotelo, Tomás Marco, José Manuel López López, Hèctor Parra, Jesús Rueda, Elena Mendoza, Alberto Posadas, César Camarero, Agustín Charles, Eduardo Polonio, Brian Ferneyhough, Martín Matalón, Beat Furrer, Kaija Saariaho, Philippe Hurel, Salvatore Sciarrino, Stefano Gervasoni, Helmut Lachenmann, Alessandro Solbiati, Johannes Schöllhorn, Ivan Fedele, Georges Aperghis, Rebecca Saunders, Chaya Czernowin, Mark André, etc. His music has been performed at the Carnegie Hall (New York), National Auditorium of Music (Madrid), Auditorium San Fedele (Milano), Teatro Central (Seville), International Organ Festival (Leon), Spanish Music Festival (Cádiz), etc. These compositions have been played by Ensemble Recherche, Taller Sonoro, Domenico Melchiorre, Daniel Oyarzábal, Grup Instrumental de València, Dhamar, Alberto Rosado, Mario Prisuelos, Alfonso Padilla, Cosmos21, S’ensemble, and so on. His works have also been recorded by the National Radio of Spain and Radio Círculo. In the field of new technologies, he has composed electroacoustic music for the International Biennial of Conterporary Art of Seville, “Noche de los Museos” (Seville), “Noche de los Libros” (Madrid), “In Sonora” (Madrid) and “Phonos” (Barcelona). He has participated in the International Conference on Digital Audio Effects in Paris (IRCAM). He has been lecturer at the International Conference on Music Technology at the University of Seville and teacher at the Royal Higher Conservatory of Music of Madrid and the Higher Conservatory of Music of Seville.
