This competition hosted by La Universidad de Mendoza, involves a massive program for a boutique hotel in the middle of the mountain regions in Baja Verapaz, Guatemala.
The topography presents a considerable inclination in the southern part of the project. The vocation of this project is to offer the adventureloving tourist a place with a close relationship with nature, excellent gastronomy, direct contact with the production and elaboration of coffee and fundamentally a place where they can find an environment of relaxation and rest.
The program consists of a reception, administration offices, staff accommodations, coffee bar, restaurant, guest accommodations,leisure, wellness center, and storages.
Also considered in the design, include the climatic conditions of the place, with the idea of proposing the use of solar energy,







Leisure
The leisure building is the introduction into the coffee production, and it is placed between the existing coffee production buildings. The space consists of a multipurpose room for events, a gallery, and a coffee bar. The approach of this building was to serve as an intermediate space as well as a resting space before proceeding to experience the rest of the site.


Staff Accommodations
The staff accommodations building includes a shared kitchen and a communal green space which is meant to create a sense of community within the staff.

CABINS/ BUNGALOWS

The guest accommodations were split between a hotel-style building and private cabins. The cabins included a single, double, shared, and suite design. The approach of the cabins is to be self-sustainable which was achieved with the incorporation of solar panels and rain -water collection on the butterfly roof system. The rainwater sloped to one side of the roof and fell through a slit on the terrace to the underground water collection system.
