#myalbelli albelli customer (and photo book enthusiast) Anne-Marie shares some tips on creating photo products and gives us some insights into her world…

Can you tell us a little more about your photo book?

I collected funny snapshots and put them together then went crazy with clip arts. As a result, a lot of the pages give a real insight into my daily life. The photos may seem ordinary now, but in 10 or 20 years, those pictures will be the special ones.

What inspired you to create an albelli product?

I had a backlog of 8 years’ worth of photos and since changing to digital cameras I didn’t know where to begin.

I had almost 25,000 photos! My mother was my main inspiration as right up until

she died she was creating photo books. So for me this was a good way of coping with her death.

What do you like about the albelli creator tool?

There are more possibilities regarding the layout than in other programs. The backgrounds, templates, frames and clip arts are amazing as well! I also like that you can save your own designs and use them again.

How long did it take you to create a photo book?

Quite a while, but that’s because I want everything to be perfect.

I store my pictures by year and then create different files per month. After that, I go crazy designing it.

Do you like to show pictures in your house?

I store my photo books in an open box in the living room and the children love to take

a look at it now and then. People are always envious of all my photo books because they want to have their pictures organised as well.

What inspires you to take pictures?

If I see something sweet, funny or beautiful I always want to capture that moment.

What are your favourite things to photograph?

I love photographing my loved ones when they’re not looking.

Are you planning on creating more photo products?

Yes, I’m going to create a year book of 2016. I want to stay on track with my pictures.

Good photo products start with great photos It’s that time of year when there’s lots of long weekends marked in your calendar and maybe even some trips away. Whether you’re travelling with family or heading to a party with friends we’ve got photography tips to help you remember all those moments you’ll never want to forget…

∙ A weekend away with family is the perfect opportunity for taking

candid shots. It’s all about making your family comfortable so they forget you’re even taking photos.

∙ Don’t use a flash when you’re trying to be discreet – it’s better to make use of natural light.

∙ Remember – there’s no such thing as bad photos. The ones where people are laughing, not looking at the camera and generally being a bit cheeky are probably the ones you’ll end up liking the most.

∙ Use the long weekends as an excuse to get all your friends

together. Take photos of the things that other people might have missed and think of the things you’ll want to look back on.

∙ Get creative with props or a theme – it will encourage your friends to be more expressive which always makes for great photos.

∙ If you’re off on a weekend escape make the most out of your time

away by getting up early and capturing the city while it’s still asleep.

With fewer people around and atmospheric light it will make for truly unforgettable images.

∙ When you’re exploring somewhere new look out for details and

patterns in buildings you visit. Architectural shots are perfect for wall art and will give your space an arty feel.
