"Anyone who thinks fallen leaves are dead has never watched them dancing on a windy day." – Shira Tamir

Greetings from the Albany Public Schools Foundation!

The cool autumn days are among us and the leaves have begun to fall. School is in full swing, and we are so grateful for all of the dedicated teachers and administrators who work tirelessly to make their classrooms and schools a wonderful learning environment.

This past weekend we held our iCelebrate Gala & Auction. Thanks to our amazing community who showed up to celebrate our 40th anniversary of supporting students in the Greater Albany Public Schools. We had a wonderful event and are so grateful for all who came. Thanks to our very supportive donors and sponsors as well.

It is time to look forward to the 2025 scholarship season. Last year we gave out over $232,000 in scholarships but we need your help to offer more. Last year we had more than 60 students left without a scholarship because we didn’t have enough money. Some of our scholarships had over 150 applications. Anyone can start a scholarship in memory of a loved one, in a family name or business name. We currently have funds to match first time scholarships of $2500.00 or more. Please contact Andrea Recek, our Director of Programs if you are interested and/or have any questions.

In closing, I want to thank all our donors for your support. We couldn’t do what we do without you. We appreciate you and want you to know that your support means the world to us.

Take care and have a wonderful October!
