Law Clinic & Justice Center
As the only law school in New York State’s capital, field placement opportunities abound. Qualified students can receive academic credit while interning at one (or several) of our open placements, including:
Highly ranked among other U.S. law school clinics, this program gives you the opportunity to assist hundreds of individuals in the region who cannot afford or have no access to legal representation. Clinic programs include:

Pro Bono Program Our Pro Bono Program allows you to provide law-related services to low-income families in New York and advocate for communities across the country. Flexible and farreaching, it gives students the freedom to develop their own projects. Popular ones include: • Providing resources to recently released prisoners • Contributing tax assistance to low-income families • Providing legal education workshops and other services to seniors, veterans and LGBT communities • Conducting legal research for civil rights organizations
Moot Court Program
Semester/Summer in Practice
This is a unique opportunity to compete in eight national competitions before real live judges. In addition, the school hosts the Domenick L. Gabrielli National Family Law Competition, where students compete face-to-face with their peers from 22 law schools across the country.
Immerse yourself in a single, semester-long placement in government and law offices throughout the world and earn a semester’s worth of academic credits, while learning by doing. Student placements have included working in the White House, the chambers of federal judges, the offices of the New York Attorney General, and many other exciting settings. While the pace can be fast, the impact it has on you personally and professionally will last a lifetime.

Thanks to our location in the heart of New York State’s powerful government, this program gives you the unique opportunity to spend a concentrated amount of time performing meaningful legal work in the offices of counsel to federal and state departments, Congress, as well as the state legislature.

Keeping it real. The goal of our program is simple: to give you the real knowledge and handson experience you need to hit the ground running in the real world. We pride ourselves on providing a multitude of impactful, rewarding opportunities in the field. In fact, students can typically choose from more than 150 different field placements, and often experience more than one internship over the course of the three-year program.
