MAY 2023 VOLUME 55, ISSUE #5

GOLDEN TICKET WINNER: WENDY JOY - PAYNEWEST INSURANCE

Background:

Wendy started her career in the insurance industry in 1991 as an office receptionist at an insurance agency in Campbell, California. She received her insurance license in California and then relocated to Oregon in 1993.

Wendy has experience with several different insurance companies and has many contacts in the industry. She most recently worked with a company specializing in covering non-profits here in Oregon. Wendy Joined PayneWest in 2021 and is excited to be able to use her extensive years of insurance experience to tailor your insurance needs with the best carrier and coverage available.

Wendy has been married to her husband Mike since 2000 and has two teenaged daughters and three golden retrievers!

Biggest Issue Facing Albany:

"I feel as though the biggest issue facing Albany right now is our community image. We struggle to keep quality restaurants and small businesses here in Albany. We also have to deal with crime and homelessness. I am encouraged that lots of positive steps have been taken in the right direction to help with these issues such as developing our riverfront, rebuilding the stage at Monteith Park, more police presence, keeping the mall in business, keeping our green spaces clear and clean, etc. Thank you to all of the efforts by our community leaders and members!"

Business Marketing Niche:

"PayneWest Insurance is committed to enhancing the well-being of the communities we serve and the people who live in them. PayneWest colleagues demonstrate and exemplify this commitment when they volunteer their time, talents and energies to their communities. PayneWest commits over $600k in community sponsorships and donations per year and every full time colleague gets 30 hours to spend time volunteering. I personally try to stay involved in our community and volunteer. I enjoy giving back to our community!"

Community Involvement:

"In our Northwest region, we employ more than 700 insurance professionals, including teams that specialize in highly-complex market niches such as healthcare, construction, transportation, education, agriculture, hospitality, public entities and banking. We provide an online quoting option for prospects and try to utilize social media and other online marketing tools to reach our prospects. I still prefer to meet with my clients face-to-face so that they have a chance to develop a relationship with myself and PayneWest Insurance, but the key is multiple points of contacts."

"While Oregon has regained 4 out of every 5 lost jobs at the start of the pandemic, the recovery is not yet complete. Given the industry variation to date, the outlook is a combination of underlying growth in the economy and also some rebound associated with recovering from the pandemic. As such, expected industry growth in the coming years can vary widely depending upon where each sector is along this path "

"Health care and social services employment is currently 4 percent below prepandemic peaks, but expected to see above-average growth in the years ahead. Underlying demographic drivers of a growing, and aging population will result in increased demand for workers."
