STEVEN WINS HIS CANCER BATTLE A father of two from Huyton, Steven Treadell, 60 has told his story about his battle with bowel cancer at the start of the coronavirus pandemic in a hope that his story can help others. Steven, who works as a Renal Nurse at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital, said: “When I turned 60 I got one of the tests through the post where you have to send a small sample of poo to be tested. Unfortunately it came back saying I needed further investigations. “I had the tests and then within in two weeks I was being treated at Whiston Hospital. I had my appointment on the Friday and surgery on the Saturday to remove the cancer. “It was five weeks ago, right at the start of Coronavirus spreading across the country. “It was a terrifying time, I was really apprehensive going to the hospital with everything going on and knowing I was ill and vulnerable, but I am so glad that I had it done. “The lockdown meant that there were visiting restrictions in the hospital and I couldn’t even see my wife or sons when I came round from the op. But the staff were so amazing and they were there for me supporting me all the way.
