15 May - 23 June 2013 Eye to Eye Portraits by Harding Meyer Gallery 2, Building 18 Portrait Artist Harding Meyer was born in Porto Alegre/Brazil in 1964. In 1987, he started his studies at Karlsruhe Art Academy. For the last 15 years he has participated in several international art exhibitions and art fairs receiving great critical acclaim, and also enjoying commercial success, with his works being coveted by art collectors and art lovers.

Katara Cultural Village Foundation is presenting an exhibition with 13 large sized Portraits by Harding Meyer. Portrait Paintings are the artists’ trademark. The Katara Curatorial team has selected the artist to exhibit his work at the Cultural Village Foundation Art Galleries, and to be an artist in residence at the Katara Art Studios, where he will be directing portrait painting workshops with artists based in Qatar, and engaging with Qatari artists.

Harding Meyer’s work is extremely engaging and draws the spectator into its subject’s faces and lives through the eyes. It is said that the eyes are the windows to the soul; this popular saying is very well illustrated in the artist’s work. When first admiring one of Harding’s paintings the first thing the spectator realizes are the eyes and how deep they manage to involve us in a matter of seconds.

The subjects selected for the portrait paintings might be chosen at random, or on a very informal manner, but the depiction of the subjects is always very focused and intimate, Harding Meyer paints them Eye to Eye and manages to captivate and glimpse into the soul of every subject he paints.

Today, Harding Meyer lives and works near Karlsruhe, Germany.

On occasion of Katara Galleries Exhibition “Eye to Eye”, with Portrait Paintings by Brazilian born artist Harding Meyer, the artist will be in residence at the Katara Art Studios from the 7th of May to the 13th of May 2013. He will be directing a workshop where he will show how he creates his portrait paintings.

Harding will show the medial character and origin of his work, then the long and complex process of painting, with which he slows and reanimates the pictures.

The artist will go into detail on his painting technique and create portraits with the participants.

At the end of the 7 day portrait painting workshop the Katara Art Studios will organize an impromptu exhibition of all the portraits produced during the workshop for which all friends and family members of the participating artists are invited to attend.

07 May - 16 June 2013 World Press Photography Exhibition Gallery 2, Building 18 World Press Photo 13 aims to inform, and to inspire an understanding of the world. The current exhibition is an effort by the Qatar Photographic Society with the Cultural Village Foundation, Katara to collaboratively with the World Press Photo organization, work towards the development of a qualified photography audience and photographers in Qatar.

World Press Photo is dedicated to supporting photojournalism and documentary photography worldwide, and to stimulating high standards. It strives to generate wide public interest in photography, to build appreciation for photographers’ work, and to encourage the free exchange of information.

Each year, World Press Photo invites photographers from across the globe to participate in the World Press Photo Contest, the top photojournalism competition worldwide. An independent international jury of 19 experts judges all entries in Amsterdam, and an annual exhibition takes the prizewinning images to 100 locations in 45 countries. It is seen by millions of visitors.

Among other activities developed by World Press Photo, are an annual contest for multimedia, exhibitions on a variety of current themes, and the stimulation of photojournalism through educational programs.

World Press Photo is run as an independent, non-profit organization with its office in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, where World Press Photo was founded in 1955.

12 May - 23 June 2013 Moosa Omar Exhibition 07:00 PM Gallery 2, Building 18 Qatar Visual Arts Center Qatar Visual Arts Center presents a new experience of works through the Omani Artist Moosa Omar and with the participation Qatari Artists Hassan El-Mulla and Maryem Al-Moussa considered as a tribute to the artist in a new and unique experience to be a surprise in the exhibition about his artistic experience, Moussa Omar stated: “In my opinion, art is not only a means and a tool to express and communicate with other; I see inside that invisible and irrepressible inherent force in the Spirit that makes a world parallel to the reality and crossed at the same time. So I triumphed to use the code in many of my works, due to my deep faith of the vast expressive space similar to the heavens dimension, where I can fly like a mythical bird with thousand wings.

The Internet now connects millions of us to each other at the mere click of a mouse – but what happens if those connections don’t turn out the way we predict they will? ‘Disconnect’ takes a look at the underside of the Internet, wondering what might be the consequences of sharing too much about ourselves with people we don’t know enough about.

20 April - 25 May 2013 My Journeys Through Yemen Moudhi Al Hajri Building 22 Moudhi Al Hajri is one of the most interesting Qatari photographers today, her drive and passion for photography as a form of art, and as a medium that allows her to engage with the world she inhabits, is heartfelt and deep. Her photography is extremely compelling and she does not have a style as such, she transcends these classifications and uses her camera to engage with the world at large and its peoples, in many cases even to give them a voice.

“My Journeys Through Yemen” is an exhibition attempting to share with the Qatari audience Moudhi Al Hajri 6 year very personal involvement with Yemen as a country and its people. The works exhibited share with us Moudhi’s journeys through Yemen from 2007 to 2013. Visitors are going to be able to grasp the magnitude of this photographer’s dedication to Yemen and its people through the breathtaking scope and extension of the work exhibited, both conceptually and geographically.

There are very few geographic areas in Yemen that Moudhi has not visited with her most faithful supporter and journey companion, her husband. Moudhi had to negotiate with local, self-proclaimed defense groups, with the official government of Yemen, with authorities and entities, with tribal leaders, rebel leaders, etc… All efforts were undertaken by this extremely driven and dedicated

Qatari photographer in order to allow her to fulfill her ambition to show the world how beautiful Yemen and its people are.

Themes on this exhibition are varied; they range from Architecture to Anthropological and Ethnographic, Social and Cultural aspects.

The visitor will feel immersed in a Yemen that very little people know, ever heard of, and that very few people know it exists in its current depiction in the “My Journeys Through Yemen” exhibition.

Extensive and ambitious as the exhibition is, with over 200 photographs on display, very meticulously accompanied with maps and captions supporting the reading of the exhibition by the audience, the current exhibition is just a pause in the current project, it’s a “make a balance” exhibition, because the project is still ongoing, and having worked in the curation of this exhibition with the artist during the last year, Moudhi Al Hajfri is already talking about her next trips, and inviting me to her Journeys Through Yemen!

“My Journeys Through Yemen” is an ongoing Moudhi Al Hajri project and Katara is very proud to be associated with it and invites all our audience to take the journey with us at the exhibition.

04 April - 11 May 2013 City Exhibition Faraj Daham / Abu El Naga Gallery 1 & 2, Building 19 Faraj Daham and Mohamed Abouelnaga are two artists based in Doha with whom I have had the privilege of developing and working on several art projects. Daham is a Qatari artist and a pillar of the Doha art scene; an artist full of energy and with a unique viewpoint of his home city. Abouelnaga is an Egyptian artist who is working in Doha as a curator; a man with enormous sensibility and with a nostalgic and endearing regard for his hometown, Cairo.

The two artists approached me in mid-2012 to work on a project, with such themes and concepts as ‘Utopia’, ‘City’, ‘In Focus’, ‘Out of Focus’ and ‘Together’ that served as seminal departure points for this exhibition at Katara Galleries, entitled City. When I was recruited to curate the exhibition and develop the ideas with them, I was captivated by the premise of both artists from the outset; there was no doubt in my mind that the exhibition would be a great experience.

From the start, we all agreed that the artists would work in developing artwork that would focus on their respective

hometowns: the different lifestyles and struggles of people working to create, develop and build the City. These hometowns would be examined through the eyes of the workers who inhabit them and, in such a way, give voice and life to them.

The result of the 8 month-long process of developing and creating the artwork exceeded my expectations. Daham’s work addresses the City as a postcard, while Abouelnaga shares with us a view of Cairo that is deliberately ‘out of focus’. Both artists see the City as a living cultural construct that we recognise not only for its population density but also for the social and historical factors it embodies. A city is organised by imposing a system which defines relations between the various groups and communities residing within it. The intention is that a city will guarantee its residents comfort and a dignified way of life, with society always aspiring towards something better. Achieving this progress, however, tends to be hindered by human notions that pull in other directions, suggesting that in reality no portrayal can be truly representative while there is a conflict of wills, domination and exclusion.

Designed to Win celebrates the ways in which design and sport are combined, pushing the limits of human endeavor to achieve records and victories of increasing significance and wonder. The exhibition explores the various ways in which design has shaped the sporting world, celebrating the introduction of revolutionary new materials such as Neoprene and carbon fibre, new technologies, fashions and sporting equipment, all of which have transformed sporting enterprise.

Designed to Win demonstrates the process of designing sporting equipment and its various influences, including material innovations, sporting constraints, nature and science. With new innovations and continued refinement, athletes have become faster, stronger and fitter, in turn beyond the sporting arena and now encompassing areas as diverse as fashion, advertising, art, film, design, business and politics. The exhibition explores key moments where design has played a significant role in progressing sport and looks at themes of safety, performance and examples where sporting bodies have intervened to limit the effects of ‘technological doping’ where new equipment is deemed to give some athletes an unfair advantage over others. By examining celebrated sporting moments and the sense of shared celebration and spectacle, the exhibition will look at not just how design can influence sport but also how sport has influenced design, art and culture. Design to win also looks at how design has revolutionized sports opportunities for people with physical.

Gallery 2, Building 18 Magnum Photos and the Katara Cultural Village Foundation curators have selected for this exhibition classic Martin Parr projects such as ‘Small World’, Parr’s satirical look at global tourism, alongside newer bodies of work such as ‘Luxury’, an insight into the world’s super rich. To celebrate the Qatar UK Year of Culture 2013, a wide selection of Parr’s work in the UK is on display; a visual exploration of the idiosyncrasies and uniqueness of British culture.

Past Events 07 - 13 April 2013 Katara African Festival Katara Esplanade KATARA organized last month “The African Festival” from 07th to 13th April 2013, the public lived their passion by participating in all sorts of activities related to African music and arts, in a space created especially for the occasion: “Africa in the village of inspiration”.

The KATARA African Festival hosted various activities designed to enhance the festival’s program. A big stage was set up to welcome the Street Artists and the Ambulatory Music Bands and acts.

The public and Guests to participate by playing different instruments, singing or using percussion provided on site, professional musicians present during helped and initiated kids to the music and instruments discovery. For this first edition, the International KATARA African Festival proposed an original and authentic multi arts exhibitions proposing Masks, Jewelry, Photos, Handcrafts, Paintings, Instruments, wood sculpture all representing different African countries and cultures.

The African Festival in KATARA, which will take place for the Show Performers were presented during all the festival to animate the main places of Katara and to celebrate this amazing festival.

They were performing ethnic authentic African shows such as: La Hadhra, Malouf, Gnawa, Mezwed, Stambali, percussion…

This African Circus: the Kenyan Boys composed of musicians, dancers, acrobats, fire performers and contortionists propelled visitors into a whirlwind of wonder with amazing acrobatic and juggling feats and a host of entertaining numbers.

17 - 20 April 2013 Senyar Festival Katara Beach Four-day Senyar Festival, Fishing and Diving Competition concluded on with a gala song, dance and an award ceremony at the Katara beach on Saturday 20/04/2013. The sailors, including 30 local teams - with a maximum of 10-member team —, which went on a mission to hunt for fish and oysters returned to the Katara beach amid the singing of traditional songs. They were welcomed by children and adults wearing traditional costumes.

At the award ceremony, the winning team was awarded QR300,000 , the second was awarded QR200,000 and the third was awarded QR150,000, the winner of the biggest fish was awarded QR100,000. 10 winners from the public were selected from a draw to win QR 5000 each.

18 - 20 April 2013 Spring Outdoor Art Fair Amphitheater Katara offered an opportunity to all artists to participate through applying for their own exhibition booth, and taking advantage of this to exhibit new works. One of the main objectives by organizing from 18th to 20th April 2013 the Spring Outdoor Art Fair is to stimulate the art market in Doha and to support Qatar based artists through maximizing opportunities for them to both exhibit and sell works, affordable to a general audience interested in Art.

27 April 2013 Giulio Cesare Drama Theater, Building 16 Katara presented at the Drama Theater the opera that conquered London in Handel’s time comes to the Met in David McVicar’s lively production. The world’s leading countertenor, David Daniels, sings the title role opposite Natalie Dessay as an irresistibly exotic Cleopatra. Baroque specialist Harry Bicket conducts.

‫معرض الربيع الفني في الهواء‬ ‫الطلق‬ ‫المسرح المكشوف‬

‫نظمت المؤسسة العامة للحي الثقافي كتارا على مدى ثالثة أيام‬ ‫معرض الربيع الفني في الهواء الطلق بمشاركة نخبة كبيرة من‬ ‫الفنانين والفنانات التشكيليين وبحضور مكثف من المهتمين ومحبي‬ ‫الفن‪.‬‬ ‫وقد بلغ عدد األعمال ‪ 300‬عمل فني في محاور مختلفة تم عرضها‬ ‫خلف المسرح المكشوف ‪.‬‬ ‫وحظي المعرض بأجواء إحتفالية رائعة تتناسب مع أجواء فصل الربيع‬ ‫و نسماته المنعشة فرصة ثمينة إلبراز المواهب الفنية وتشجيعها‬ ‫وزيادة الثقة بالنفس ألصحاب العمل الفني المعروض‪.‬‬ ‫وتميز هذا المهرجان بالمشاركات المميزة سواء من القطريين أو من‬ ‫المقيمين ‪ ،‬وبإرتفاع نسبة مبيعات األعمال الفنية ‪.%50‬‬

‫نظمت المؤسسة العامة للحي الثقافي "كتارا"‪ ،‬مهرجان كتارا‬ ‫األفريقي األول الذي استمر في الفترة من ‪ 7‬لغاية ‪ 13‬ابريل ‪2013‬‬ ‫على أنغام الموسيقى والطبول االفريقية ‪ ،‬والعروض الراقصة ‪ ،‬التي‬ ‫تقدمها فرق راقصة في الهواء الطلق بمشاركة ‪ 15‬دولة أفريقية‬ ‫هي غينيا وجمهورية تشاد و جمهورية السودان وليبيريا وجامبيا‬ ‫و الصومال وسوازيالند وجمهورية مصر وموريتانيا وجيبوتي وليبيا‬ ‫وتونس والمغرب وجنوب افريقيا و بنين‪.‬‬ ‫وتميز مهرجان كتارا األفريقي في نسخته األولى بقوة الطرح‬ ‫وبالحضور الجماهيري الغفير‪ ،‬حيث منح المهرجان األفريقي الفرصة‬ ‫للجمهور والضيوف بالعزف على مختلف األدوات الموسيقية ‪ ،‬وذلك‬ ‫من خالل المعارض المتعددة والفنون االصيلة والمجوهرات والصور‬ ‫والحرف اليدوية واللوحات واآلالت والنحت على الخشب وجميعها تمثل‬ ‫البلدان األفريقية المشاركة بثقافاتها‪.‬‬ ‫ً‬ ‫ً‬ ‫حقيقيا لمدى التفاعل االيجابي بين الثقافات‬ ‫نموذجا‬ ‫ويعد هذا الحدث‬ ‫‪ ،‬ويجسد صورة حية وثرية للفلكلور والثقافة والتراث االفريقي ‪ ،‬بكل‬ ‫ما يزخر به من عمق حضاري وبعد انساني‪.‬‬

‫حفل إختتام مسابقة سنيار‬ ‫"للغوص على اللؤلؤ وصيد االسماك"‬ ‫شاطئ كتارا‬ ‫إختتمت مسابقة سنيار للغوص على اللؤلؤ وصيد االسماك يوم السبت‬ ‫بتاريخ ‪ 20‬ابريل ‪، 2013‬بقدوم المحامل الخشبية بهيبتها ووقارها‬ ‫لتصطف أمام شاطيء كتارا حيث تم إستقبالهم بترحيب حار من قبل‬ ‫اللجنة المنظمة وإدارة الحي الثقافي كتارا وتقدم المستقبلين‬ ‫سعادة الدكتور خالد بن ابراهيم السليطي مدير عام مؤسسة الحي‬ ‫الثقافي والى جانبه رئيس البطولة السيد احمد الهتمي مدير‬ ‫شواطيء كتارا‪ ،‬باإلضافة ألهالي المتسابقين الذي حضروا يحملون‬ ‫معهم الورود والمحبة بوصول أبناءهم وذويهم من رحلتهم البحرية‬ ‫بسالم‪ ،‬لتشكل لوحة تراثية طالما تميزت بها شواطىء الخليج العربي‬ ‫ً‬ ‫قديما‪.‬‬ ‫وتميزت المسابقة بقوتها بين ‪ 30‬فريق مشارك ‪ ،‬وكانت النتائج‬ ‫كالتالي المركز األول الفلك وحصل على ‪ 300.000‬الف ريال قطري‬ ‫والمركز الثاني فريق البديد وحصل على ‪ 200.000‬ريال قطري وحصل‬ ‫على المركز الثالث فريق الجنوب وحصل على ‪ 150.000‬ريال قطري‪،‬‬ ‫ومن المركز الرابع للخامس عشر كانت المراكز كالتالي – المجدمي –‬ ‫شراعوه‪-‬الخريج – الذخيرة – أم الحول‪-‬جنان‪ -‬الزبارة – شرق – المجبل‬ ‫– النواخذ‪ -‬الوكرة – سارح‪ -‬وحصل فريق البديد على جائزة "اكبر سمكة"‬ ‫وهي عبارة عن ‪ 100‬ألف ريال قطري‪.‬‬

‫يتناول معرض «مصممة للفوز» الطرق التي تجمع بين التصميم‬ ‫والرياضة‪ ،‬ودفع حدود الجهد البشري لتحقيق نتائج وانتصـــــارات‪،‬‬ ‫يكشف المعرض عن الطرق المختلفة التي شكلت تصميم عالم‬ ‫الرياضة‪ ،‬حيث أدخلت مواد جديدة حديثة مثل النيوبرين وألياف الكربون‪،‬‬ ‫والتكنولوجيات الجديدة‪ ،‬واألزياء والمعدات الرياضية التي حولت‬ ‫المؤسسة الرياضية‪ .‬يوضح معرض «مصممة للفوز» عملية تصميم‬ ‫معدات رياضية وتأثيراته المختلفة‪ ،‬بما في ذلك االبتكارات المادية‪،‬‬ ‫والقيود الرياضية‪ ،‬والطبيعة والعلوم مع االبتكارات الجديدة والتحسين‬ ‫المستمر‪ ،‬حيث أصبح الرياضيون أسرع وأقوى‪ ،‬وبالمقابل تشمل اآلن‬ ‫خارج الساحة الرياضية مجــــاالت متنوعة مثل األزيـاء‪ ،‬الفن واإلعالنات‪،‬‬ ‫األفالم والتصميم واألعمال والسياسة‪.‬‬ ‫يستكشف المعرض اللحظات المهمة التي لعب فيها التصميم‬ ‫دورا هاما في تقدم الرياضة ويبحث في مواضيع األداء والسالمة‬ ‫وأمثلة عن الهيئات الرياضية التي تدخلت للحد من آثار «المنشطات‬ ‫التكنولوجية»‪ ،‬حيث اعتبرت المعدات الجديدة تمنح بعض الرياضيين‬ ‫سبق غير عادل على اآلخرين‪.‬‬

‫اختارت ماغنوم للصور ومؤسسة الحي الثقافي كتارا لهذا المعرض‬ ‫الكالسيكي مشاريع مارتن بار‪ ،‬مثل «عالم صغير»‪ ،‬والتي تعبّر عن نظرة‬ ‫بار الساخرة إلى السياحة العالمية‪ ،‬رفقة أحدث األشكال للعمل مثل‬ ‫«فاخر» التي تعكس نظرة عميقة في عالم األثرياء‪.‬‬ ‫ً‬ ‫واحتفاال بسنة «قطر ‪ -‬المملكة المتحدة للثقافة ‪ ،»2013‬تعرض‬ ‫مجموعة واسعة من أعمال بار في المملكة المتحدة البريطانية ؛‬ ‫استكشاف بصري لخصوصيات وتفرد الثقافة البريطانية‪.‬‬

‫فرج دهام ‪ /‬محمد ابو النجا‬ ‫المبنى ‪ ، 19‬معرض ‪ 1‬و ‪2‬‬

‫فرج دهام ومحمد أبو النجا نوعان فنانين يقيمان بالدوحة‪ ،‬دهام فنان‬ ‫قطري وأحد أعمدة الساحة الفنية في الدوحة؛ بطاقة كاملة بوجهة‬ ‫نظر فريدة عن مدينته‪ .‬أبو النجا فنان مصري يعمل في الدوحة كمشرف‬ ‫فني؛ رجل مفعم بإحساس هائل وحنين لمسقط رأسه‪ ،‬القاهرة‪.‬‬ ‫اقترب الفنانان في منتصف عام ‪ 2012‬للعمل على مشروع‪ ،‬على‬ ‫مواضيع ومفاهيم مثل اسم ‹يوتوبيا›‪‹ ،‬مدينة›‪‹ ،‬تحت المجهر›‪‹ ،‬من‬ ‫التركيز «و» معا «التي كانت بمثابة نقاط انطالق لهذا المعرض في‬ ‫معارض كتارا‪ ،‬بعنوان مدينة‪.‬‬ ‫يتناول عمل دهام المدينة كبطاقة بريدية‪ ،‬بينما يشاركن أبو النجا معنا‬ ‫منظر عن القاهرة‪ ،‬حيث أن رؤية كال الفنانين للمدينة بوصفها بناء‬ ‫ثقافي التي نتعرّع عليها ليس فقط بكثافة سكانها ولكن أيضا لعوامل‬ ‫اجتماعية وتاريخية تجسدها‪ ،‬يتم تنظيم المدينة عن طريق فرض نظام‬ ‫يحدد العالقات بين مختلف الجماعات والمجتمعات المقيمين داخلها‪،‬‬ ‫والقصد من ذلك هو أن المدينة ستضمن للمقيمين الراحة والعيش‬ ‫الكريمة لمجتمع يطمح دائما لشيء أفضل‪ّ .‬‬ ‫إن تحقيق هذا التقدم‬

‫يعرقله مفاهيم اإلنسان التي تسحب في اتجاهات أخرى‪ ،‬مما يوحي‬ ‫بأن في واقع األمر ال يمكن أن تكون صورة تمثيلية حقيقية بينما هناك‬ ‫صراع اإلرادات والهيمنة واإلقصاء‪.‬‬ ‫تشمل المدينة كال من تواجد اإلنسان البدنية والناحية الثقافية‬ ‫والحضارية التي نحن قد نعتمدها لشرح بعض الظواهر غير المتوقعة‪،‬‬ ‫مثل هيمنة المبادئ الراسخة وطريقة الحياة التي تنظم العالقات بين‬ ‫النّاس وفقا لتغيير األفكار واالتجاهات والسلوكيات ‪ -‬هذا ال يمكن أن‬ ‫ينفصل عن التنوع الثقافي داخل المدينة‪.‬‬ ‫هناك ّ‬ ‫تنوع ال حصر له من شخص إلى آخر‪ ،‬في حين أن الجميع يتنافس‬ ‫لتحويل أحالمهم إلى حقيقة واقعة‪ ،‬أو كما قال وليام شكسبير في‬ ‫العاصفة على لسان بروسبيرو‪« :‬نحن مثل األحالم تتحق» في الواقع‪،‬‬ ‫نحن أيضا مهندسي وبناة تلك األحالم‪ ،‬والمتفرجون الذين يبحثون‬ ‫عن مثل هذه األحالم حين بنائها‪ ،‬وبينما ا علينا أن نعمل على تحويل‬ ‫آمالنا ورغباتنا إلى واقع ملموس‪ ،‬تصبح تطلعاتنا مشوهة‪ ،‬كما يفعله‬ ‫صورتنا الشخصية بداخلنا‪.‬‬

‫الفنانة موضي الهاجري مصورة ضوئية متألقة في عالم التصوير‬ ‫الضوئي في قطر‪ ،‬وتمضي فيه كوسيلة للتعبير ولإلنخراط في‬ ‫تفاصيل البيئة المدهشة التي تسكنها‪ ،‬وتقيم به رابطة وجدانية تعزز‬ ‫عالقتها العميقة بمكوناتها ومظاهرها ‪ .‬التصوير بالنسبة لها أداة‬ ‫للتعبير واإلقناع توظفها إلى أقصى حد ممكن دون الخضوع إلى‬ ‫القوالب والتصنيفات ‪ ،‬بل إنها تتجاوز كل ذلك إلى المدى األرحب‬ ‫وتمضي بالكاميرا إلى مساحات واسعة تشمل العالم بأسره ‪ ،‬لتصور‬ ‫كل هؤالء الناس الذين يملؤونه حياة وتسمعنا أصواتهم‪.‬‬ ‫"رحالتي في اليمن" هو معرض تشارك فيه الفنانة موضي الهاجري‬ ‫الجمهور القطري تجربة فنية فريدة امتدت على مدى ست سنوات ‪،‬‬ ‫تحكي عن رابطة عاطفية قوية جمعتها وبالد اليمن بمدنها وطبيعتها‬ ‫وسكانها ‪ .‬األعمال الفنية هنا تصور رحالت الفنانة إلى اليمن خالل‬ ‫الفترة الممتدة بين ‪ .2013 -2007‬وتمثل جهدا متفانيا لتصوير بالد‬ ‫اليمن وشعبها في صور خالبة في جغرافيتها ومفاهيميتها العميقة‬ ‫األبعاد‪.‬‬ ‫زارت الفنانة معظم المناطق واألقاليم الجغرافية اليمنية بصحبة زوجها‬ ‫الذي منحها الدعم والتشجيع والصحبة الفاعلة والرفقة المؤنسة‬

‫في رحالت لم تخل من مخاطر التفاوض مع الجماعات المحلية الحاكمة‬ ‫‪ ،‬والحكومة الرسمية اليمنية ‪،‬والسلطات والكيانات القائمة هناك ‪،‬‬ ‫وزعماء القبائل وزعماء المتمردين‪ ،‬باإلضافة إلى بذل كل جهد ممكن‬ ‫للسماح لها بالوصول إلى مناطق وعرة وخطيرة وجميلة ولتقول‬ ‫إنها مصورة قطرية كرست وقتها وجهدها لتحقيق طموحها وإرضاء‬ ‫شغفها بنقل صورة اليمن الجميلة وشعبها الطيب إلى العالم كله‪.‬‬ ‫وتتنوع المواضيع في هذا المعرض بين ما يمثل العمارة التقليدية‬ ‫المتميزة وغيرها مما يمثل السمات األنثروبولوجية واإلثنوغرافية‬ ‫واالجتماعية والثقافية للحضارة اليمنية‪ .‬كما أنها تكشف جوانب كثيرة ال‬ ‫يعرفها ولم يسمع بها من لم يزر اليمن من قبل ليراها هنا في أعمال‬ ‫الفنانة موضي الهاجري في معرضها "رحالتي في بالد اليمن" الذي‬ ‫يضم أكثر من مئتي لوحة بدقة عالية ومرفق بها خرائط وتوضيحات‬ ‫تسهل على المتلقي قراءة الصور ‪ .‬والمعرض جزء من مشروع أكبر‬ ‫ال يزال العمل عليه مستمرا ‪ ،‬هو مشروع الفنانة موضي الهاجري‬ ‫األساسي الذي تفخر كتارا بعرضه وتقديمه للجمهور وتدعو الجميع‬ ‫إلى المشاركة في تلك الرحالت الساحرة في ربوع اليمن الجميل‪.‬‬

‫سينما كتارا ومؤسسة الدوحة لألفالم‬ ‫مسرح الدراما في كتارا‪ ،‬المبنى ‪16‬‬ ‫يتعرض مراهق وحيد وموسيقي موهوب للتخويف من قبل زمالئه‪.‬‬ ‫يخسر رجل مدخراته‪ ،‬وتقع زوجته ضحية لسرقة هوية‪ .‬صحفية تعرّض‬ ‫ً‬ ‫حوارا للخطر‪ .‬كل هذا يحدث عبر اإلنترنت‪.‬‬ ‫الشخص الذي أقامت معه‬ ‫تربط شبكة اإلنترنت ماليين األشخاص مع بعضهم بمجرد نقرة فأرة‪.‬‬ ‫ولكن ماذا يحدث إذا لم تسر هذه اإلتصاالت بالطريقة التي نتوقعها؟‬ ‫فيلم «انقطاع اإلتصال» (ديسكونكت) يبحث في الجانب المخفي من‬ ‫اإلنترنت ويتساءل عن التداعيات التي يمكن أن تحدث جرّاء مشاركة‬ ‫الكثير من المعلومات عن أنفسنا مع أشخاص ال نعرفهم بشكل كاف‪.‬‬

‫كما قامت منظمة صورة الصحافة العالمية بتنظيم مسابقة سنوية‬ ‫لوسائل االعالم المتعددة إضافة الى عدد من المعارض ضمن مواضيع‬ ‫متنوعة‪.‬و تحرص المنظمة على التشجيع على التصوير الصحفي من‬ ‫خالل البرامج التعليمية‪.‬‬ ‫و للعلم فإن منظمة صورة الصحافة العالمية تأسست سنة ‪ 1955‬في‬ ‫امستردام في هولندا وهي منظمة مستقلة غير تجارية ‪.‬‬

‫تقدم المؤسسة العامة للحي الثقافي كتارا معرضا للفنان هاردينغ‬ ‫ماير يضم ‪ 13‬لوحة كبيرة الحجم‪،‬مع العلم أنه قد تم إختيار الرسام ليكون‬ ‫ً‬ ‫مشرفا على ورشات عمل مع الفنانيين القطريين و المستقرين في‬ ‫الدولة‪.‬‬ ‫و يذكر أن الفنان هاردينغ ماير من مواليد مدينة بورتو أليغري في‬ ‫البرازيل سنة ‪ 1964‬وقد بدأ دراسته سنة ‪ 1987‬بأكاديمية كارلسروه‬ ‫للفنون في ألمانيا‪،‬و قد شارك على مدى ‪ 15‬سنة الماضية في‬ ‫ً‬ ‫حائزا على إعجاب النقاد وهو ما‬ ‫العديد من المعارض الفنية الدولية‬ ‫ً‬ ‫ً‬ ‫ً‬ ‫طائال جراء إقبال الجمهور على‬ ‫ماديا‬ ‫كسبا‬ ‫ساعده على أن يحقق‬ ‫إقتناء لوحاته‪.‬‬

‫و تتميز أعمال هاردينغ ماير باإلقدام حيث تجذب المشاهد إلى‬ ‫الموضوع من خالل العينين ويقال إن العيون هي نوافذ الروح ‪ ،‬ويتضح‬ ‫ً‬ ‫جيدا في أعمال الفنان وذلك بتركيزها على لغة‬ ‫هذا المثل الشعبي‬ ‫العيون بإعتبارها نوافذ للروح فمنها ينقل الرسام أحاسيسه إلى‬ ‫جمهوره ‪.‬‬ ‫ً‬ ‫عشوائيا أو‬ ‫و تجدر اإلشارة إلى أنه قد تم إختيار موضوعات اللوحات‬ ‫على نحو غير رسمي ‪ ،‬لكنها اتفقت على موضوع واحد وهو الحميمية‪.‬‬
