The intent of the Studio is to capture the spirit of the water edge and re-look at River edges as public spaces in India. We intend to understand the Ghats and Historical structures by the river as ‘City’s Public Space’.

The idea is to develop an architectural intervention that can accommodate a part of the abandoned structure and new proposals which enrich the experience of our river edges, to meet occasional religious and recreational needs of the local communities.

Intent:

The intent of the ‘Group Housing’ studio is to engage the students to study the life, activities of life and engagements of people. To study the people as individuals, family and as a community and apply the knowledge to shape the architecture in a manner that, the family binds as an entity within the unit and the community binds as a collective, through articulation of space and form.

MY INTENT :

Here more importance has to be equally given to the people as well as their profession

Requires common space based on profession (fully enclosed or partially enclosed)

Requires common space for the family members in the community as well Due to their overwork usually they have to sit in an office for nearly 20 hours. In order to break that and have some sorts of relaxation an outdoor playground or/and indoor playground as well. For the family members there is already a park nearby. Thus a pathway that connect both the community and park which can also turn into a jogging area or/and pedestrian path as well. Spaces can be again segregated to semi private and private.

AGRAHARA, Mysore

The Agrahara was built by the maharajas, chiefly during the reign of Krishnarja Wadiyar III. It is one of the oldest areas in the mysore city. These buildings were constructed 80 years ago. The 101 Ganapthy temple is situated in the middle of this circle, dedicated to lord Ganesha. Opposite the temple is the padma theatre, one of the oldest theatres in mysore, fronted by a massive tree held in a katte. The evenings in this area are very busy. It is a site visited by foreigners and localites alike.

During the weekdays there are fewer pedestrians.

Only few regular shops have crowds around it.

Other than that there’s only vehicular movement mostly.
