KALIBO, Aklan, Feb. 15 (PIA) -- The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) is encouraging political parties and candidates to use recyclable and environmentfriendly materials and to avoid using those that contain hazardous chemicals and substances in the production of their campaign and election propaganda. This was emphasized by Atty. Elizabeth Doronila, Aklan election supervisor, during a recent press conference with the local media to give updates on activities of their office with the onset of the campaign period for national elective positions and party-list representatives. The updates and reminders were culled from Resolution No. 10488 of the COMELEC promulgated on January 30, 2019 that provides the rules and regulations implementing Republic Act 9006, otherwise known as the “Fair Elections Act” in connection with the May 13, 2019 national and local elections. The resolution contained rules for campaign period, prohibited campaigning, prohibition against foreign intervention, authorized expenses of candidates and parties, lawful election propaganda, prohibited forms of election propaganda, petition for authority to use other election propaganda, requirements and/or limitations on the use of election propaganda through mass media, among others. Most questions raised by the local media centered on lawful election propaganda, prohibited forms of election propaganda as well as on specific airtime on radio and television of paid advertisements of candidates. KALIBO, AKLAN, (PIA) - The Provincial Health Office (PHO)-Aklan urged the public to maintain the cleanliness of their respective homes and surroundings as this is one way of eliminating or preventing the breeding of the denguecarrying mosquitoes. Dengue cases in Aklan increased by 109 percent in the first four weeks of 2019, records from the Aklan Provincial Epidemiology Surveillance and Response Unit showed. According to APESRU, dengue cases in Aklan from January 1 to February 3, 2019 already reached 176. Compared to last year of the same period, the province listed with 84 cases. The PHO here said that all municipalities in Aklan have cases of dengue; of which, Kalibo, the capital town registered the highest number with 60 cases. KALIBO, Aklan, (PIA) -- The province of Aklan is the first in Western Visayas and in the country to enter into a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with PhilHealth for the enrollment of Job Order employees under the Group Enrollment Scheme Program. Most of the patients were aged 1 to 10 years old with 68 cases or 39 percent of the total number of cases. Bien Paul S. Obordo, said that as of December 2018, the provincial government of Aklan has enrolled 1,188 Job Order employees. With their enrollment, these Provincial Job Order employees will be able to automatically avail of PhilHealth benefits, she said. She added that as of the same period, the Dr. Rafael S.
