MUSE (noun) (myüz)

1. A source of inspiration.

ZILLENIAL (noun) (zi’leniel)

1. A demographic group that are considered to be between the Millenial and Generation Z generations.

Zillenials are f*cking cool.

A scientist said this.

M(US)E (verb) (myooze)

1. To find inspiration in ME.

2. To inspire those around US.

Our nuanced experiences group us into a micro-generation hugging both sides of the turn of the century. Neither fully Millennial or Gen Z, we hold a unique space. We grew up on Spongebob but we rebuke Rae Dunn. Days were occupied by playing Manhunt with the neighborhood kids, while nights were spent abusing the Photo Booth effects. We navigated the world at our fingertips, transitioning from Nintendo DS to iPod touch, thrown into an uncharted digital landscape before we’d even experienced our first Scholastic Book Fair. As a result, we grew up faster in a world that was also growing up with us; where the potential of the internet remained largely unknown. We were held to the traditional standard of childhood“no talking to strangers” and “wear your helmet” - no one knew to monitor our digital footprint; these lessons were self-taught. Our adolescence was marked by the confusion and excitement of growing up in an era of rapid technological change. This made us adaptable, innovative and tragically unserious.

This issue is intended to encourage it’s readers to reminisce and draw inspiration from the touchstones that mold them.

We present to you the inaugural issue of M(US)E Magazine. Stay awesome, Annie & Carson
