INTRODUCTION
This photobook features 20 individuals from various backgrounds and professions. Each participant was invited to the studio, where they showcased an outfit they believed truly reflected their personal style. Afterwards, they engaged in a series of questions centered around their muse and how they define their unique style. Originally conceived as a portrait series, the project evolved into a profound exploration as participants engaged in introspection. Their chosen attire transformed their presence in the images as their inner confidence shone through.
The goal of this book is to reshape the concept of a “muse” and encourage you to seek inspiration from within yourself. To become your own muse.

I feel like we are our true selves when we’re late and we’re rushing. This has always been my go-to outfit.
How would you define your personal style?
I’ve had a note in my phone since I was 19 with this answer: “Artsy demonic vampire witch pirate who listens to Hozier and like flora patterns who also happens to be a space cowboy and a luxurious goth.” Now, I like to define my style as kind of refined, soft goth office core. Usually I always wear maxi skirts but for this shoot I wanted to be my glamorous self. I wear long skirts when I’m sad usually, but I wasn’t sad today.
Do you feel like your muse has an influence on the way you dress?
She definitely did when I was 19 because I was obsessed with silver so I would wear it like armour to look like her. I am also a person of faith so I like to wear crucifixes. It’s a very intimate but glamorous way to display my faith.
What is your favorite part about this outfit?
The boots!
Would you say your personality is accurately reflected in your personal style?
Yes, absolutely. I think its playful and elegant with a dark tinge to it.
What does the term “muse” mean to you?
Definitely an inspiration and someone you think about a lot when you dress yourself. It’s definitely ALWAYS a woman, never men.

I just thought I looked really cool in it. I looked at and said I want to dress cool today. I originally had a black zip-up hoodie but it didn’t fit the sleek studio vibe.

Y2K revival, early 2000s metal.

Yes because I used to be a middle schooler that was into Slipknot. I also love those late 90s early 2000s americana pictures of the young kids in f*ck off nowhere towns going to these sick gigs. Love that vibe and look.

The dragon t-shirt because it’s handmade by a guy in Camden.

Not entirely. I tend to be a very fluid and flexible person when it comes to my style. I’m working on expressing myself mostly because over the past few years I’ve gone through a complete abandonment of style. For the past 3 years I dressed in lots of athletic and fighting gear so now it’s nice but weird to dress well and express myself.

I feel like it has to be someone you look up to or a role model but I’m not the kind of person that believes in role models, so to me it’s sort of like an alien. A concept or vibe, not so much a person.

During the winter season I’m a big jumper girl. I would say my personal style in the winter edition is a lot of jumpers with collared shirts underneath. I love the classy and elegant look that combination gives. I also love wearing band tees and clothing that reflects my love for music.

Eh slightly...John Lennon is more of my “creative muse,” not so much fashion BUT I will sport my round sunglasses every once in a while.

Has to be the jumper. I love the colors and the fact that it’s knitted! Originally it was about £65 but I found it new and unused for £12 on Vinted!

Superstars are the best shoes in the whole world, jeans are my mum’s and they’re too big for her, and the t-shirt is because I love Guinness. The jacket is from when I was 16/17 when I was very much working class mixing in with middle-class circles and feeling out of place so I tried to dress nicer. It’s kind of the last remnant of that period; and the hat is very much Skepta.

Comfy and sentimental with a touch of tomboy.
Do you feel like your muse has an influence on the way you dress?
Absolutely. I grew up stealing clothes from my mom and my brothers (mostly my mom), so I think naturally this shaped my style into what it is today. I’m a big secondhand girl and I adore a piece that has sentiment and a story.

My crochet sweater. My great-grandmother crocheted this for my mom when she was little and I inherited it. I wear it whenever it’s warm enough and it’s perfect for any occasion.
