Alongside the shows on stage at Theatre Royal Brighton, our Creative Learning programme offers a host of exciting, unusual and inspiring workshops, courses and events off stage for people of all ages. Summer holidays Torchlight Tours

A unique look at Theatre Royal Brighton. Follow your guide on a night time backstage tour and hear the stories of people connected to the Theatre over its 200 year history. Torches provided! The Secret Life of Fairies

Not all fairies live in the woods! Join The Fairy Preservation Society on a secret journey around the Theatre - take the fairy promise, make a potion and cast a spell in this magical experience for 4 – 8 yr olds and their grown ups. SUN 12 AUG 1.30pm, 3pm & 4.30pm MON 13 AUG 10.30am, 12pm, 1.30pm, 3pm & 4.30pm | £12.50

Twilight Picnic

Come in our Stage Door and journey through hidden parts of the Theatre on the way to our secret twilight picnic spot. Things to see, songs to sing and stories to share in this magical event for families with children 5yrs+. Ticket price includes a picnic bag. FRI 17 & SAT 18 AUG 5pm | £8.50

8 – 12 year olds and accompanying adults will spend the morning behind the scenes in this exciting workshop with our technical team. Discover the basics of theatre lighting and sound, what happens backstage before and during a show and how our flying system works. WED 22 AUG 10.30am – 12.30pm | £8.50 Family ticket (1 adult, 2 children) £22.50

West End Comedy Theatre Workshop

Led by West End performers, this course focuses on physical theatre, comedy and slapstick, as well as reinventing a show stopping song from the West End hit Hamilton! A joyful, physical and infectiously silly 4 days for 10 – 16 year olds; includes a group visit to the matinee of The Play That Goes Wrong and a visit from a member of the cast. TUE 28 – FRI 31 AUG (Tue & Wed 10am – 3pm; Thu 10am – 2pm followed by matinee; Fri 12pm – 5.30pm) COURSE FEE £100


Workshops and courses for children and families Theatre Workshop Course

For all 10 – 12 year olds who want to find out more about theatre, learn new skills and create, direct and design their own mini plays. No experience is necessary, anyone excited about theatre and wanting to be creative is welcome! Special events and courses TRB Young Writers

An exciting partnership project between New Writing South and Theatre Royal Brighton for young writers aged 16 – 21 who are passionate about writing and theatre. Age is a Stage

Break the rules, be stupid, be playful, look at the world with a fresh eye unclouded by routine and facebook! Light or reignite your creative spark in this course, led by Chris Cresswell, for the older generation who still feel young. No experience is necessary. Age is a Stage Showcase

Join us on stage to see what our amazing Age is a Stage participants have been up to. This session includes an opportunity to play on stage with workshop leader Chris Cresswell and find out more about this very popular course for the older generation who still feel young! The Postcard Museum

‘Wish you were here’… a message sent to loved ones for over 100 years! Keeping in touch, passing on news, celebrating, commemorating every postcard tells a story. We are creating all sorts of special activities to celebrate the humble picture postcard. TUE 2 & WED 3 OCT Various times

Tea, Talk and a Tour

Join us for an afternoon of stories, sneaky peeks behind the scenes and an insight into the fascinating history of Theatre Royal Brighton – one of the oldest working theatres in the country. WED 3 OCT 2.30pm – 4pm | £5

Be part of our story… Brighton & Hove Older People’s Festival Creative Brighton Exposed

An inter-generational morning of creative activities including writing, music, art, drama and a backstage tour. Hosted by Rotary Club’s in Brighton & Hove, the morning will also provide an insight into Rotary’s activities in Brighton. SAT 29 SEP 10.30am – 12.30pm FREE
