Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®

Greetings Sorors of the Northeast Texas Cluster:

There is no place like home! It is always a pleasure to be in company with our Sensational South Central Regional Director, Soror Shawn Simmons, and the sorors of the BEST Cluster in all of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®—the Northeast Texas Cluster. I extend my heartfelt congratulations to Madam Regional Director on a successful first Northeast Texas Cluster. Kudos to Soror Tamika Tutt, Cluster Coordinator, conference planning team, and the host chapter, my chapter, Tau Rho Omega on the phenomenal planning and execution of this conference.

There is no better time than now to gather together in this community cultivated through sisterhood in which we can discuss our ideas and programs, strengthen our chapters, enhance our chapter operations, express our pink and green loving selves, fellowship with one another, and reinvigorate ourselves to do the necessary work to uplift the many communities in which we live and serve.

We are truly living in exciting times. Can you believe we are just a few days away from the most consequential and historic election of our lifetime. One of our very own could soon and very soon paint the White House pink and green! This moment is one that represents the bloom from the seeds our beloved Founders planted over a century ago. The vision to be “a light to the people’s darkness” has been passed through generations and brought us to such a time as this. As we reflect on all that we have done in anticipation of what the future will bring, our beloved soror Toni Morrison expressed my feelings infinitely better than I could ever do. Remember, no matter what—

“You did all right, girl…You took the hands of the children and danced with them. You defended men who could not defend you. You turned grandparents over on their sides to freshen sheets and white pillows. You made meals from leavings…And all along the way you had the best of company—others, we others, just like you”—Toni Morrison

Sorors, you are indeed the best of company. Each day I am reminded how blessed I am to be a part of this sisterhood. I am eternally grateful for your continued thoughtfulness, sisterly love, and all you do to keep Alpha Kappa Alpha Supreme in Service to ALL Mankind!

In Sisterhood and Service,
