Janicke Swanson earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business & Marketing from the University of Western Australia. Born in Vancouver, British Columbia, Peter has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biochemistry from the University of Victoria. In 2000, Pete headed to Los Angeles after receiving a job offer from UBS Warburg, a Swiss-based investment bank, where he worked as an analyst. In 2003, to pursue a more balanced lifestyle, he moved to Mammoth Lakes, CA. This is where he started his real estate career as a full-time Realtor. Two years later he met his wife, DeDe, a San Diego native.

Born at George Air Force Base, Dede moved to San Diego when she was about six months old as her dad retired from the United States Air Force to start his career as a commercial airline pilot for the beloved PSA and then US Airways.

In 2003, she moved to Mammoth to pursue her passion, rock climbing, and to help her sister with her business and their newborn son. Quickly after moving to Mammoth, she met her husband Pete – where they were later married and started a family. In 2005, she founded and ran Mammoth Montessori Children’s House which she operated full-time for about 10 years.

“It was a great experience to run my own successful business that was an integral part of our community and to follow in my mom’s footsteps.” In 2014, Dede, her husband and their two kids moved to San Diego when her dad was diagnosed with cancer.

H OW TO PR E PA R E YO U R H O M E TO L I ST Preparing your home to list should be stress-free and efficient. As Berkshire Hathway HomeServices sales professionals, our commitment is to help you every step of the way. Here are our top tips on how to get your home ready.

• Improve your landscaping. Curb appeal is crucial to a good first impression, so make sure your home’s lawn is immaculate. Mow the lawn, prune the bushes, weed the garden and plant flowers.

Clean the outside. A sloppy exterior will make buyers think you’ve slacked off on interior maintenance as well. Be sure to clean the gutters and pressure wash your home’s siding.

• Make repairs. In a buyer’s market, you want your home to be in the best condition possible. Take care of major defects like broken windows or a leaky roof that could discourage buyers.

• Make the front door inviting. A fresh coat of paint, especially in a color that contrasts with the home, will make the front door stand out. Replace faded house numbers so buyers can see them from the curb.

Buy a new welcome mat. Let buyers know they’re invited into your home.
