The use of rammed earth, wood, and copper in building materials presents a unique opportunity to blend with nature and create a shining hope for sustainable architecture. The structure would be designed to complement the natural surroundings, with the rammed earth providing a grounding, earthy feel that blends seamlessly into the landscape. The use of wood would add warmth and texture, with large beams and columns serving as structural elements and highlighting the natural beauty of the material. Copper, with its reflective quality, would provide a striking contrast and a sense of movement, as the changing light and shadows of the day reflect off the surface. The building would be designed to maximize natural light and ventilation, with large windows and doors that allow the occupants to connect with the outdoors. The interior spaces would be designed to support the overall theme of blending with nature, with natural materials used throughout. Earth tones and warm colors would be used to create a sense of harmony and balance, and the use of natural light and views to the outdoors would be maximized.

Holistic Honesty

Vertical Emphasis

Defined Geometry

The sanctuary of revelation is an architectural unification of the mind and soul under the ethereal Presence of god's creation. Transcendence is experienced in forms of general revelation, in which the earth rises from the ground, Creating these peaks of intellect. The sanctuary is a safe space for all, a space that calms your mind and fills your soul with the aura of God. As you ascend and descend through the spaces, the light acts as a guide and is met with crystalized stained glass in which filters the light creating a feeling like the northern lights. The duality between the function of the chapel is important to the mission of the Christian study center and the University of Michigan (UoM) because it provides a space for users to elevate their relationship with their mind and spirit. As you elevate your mind and soul the structure grows with you, representing that god is always with you as you conquer the chal lenges in life.

Peaks Of Revelation

The peaks are formed by combining two structural Systems: tree structures and folded plates. The tree structures act as a reinforcement to the folded plate wall/roof system, symbolically these peaks represent the rise of our mind and soul.

Linear Light

Natural light is filtered through the sun shading slits along the structure to form linear rays that act as guide through the spaces. Met with crystalized stained-glass light is transformed into an ethereal aura of color.

Rooted In Nature

The structure is embedded in nature and expands as you ascend through the site. In areas where the structure concaves in is where areas of privacy are met. In areas where the structure concaves out is where areas of public space are revealed.

Integrated Plaza

The plaza acts as an invitation to the community, it is an expansion of the quad and the breakages within the plaza are inspired from the surrounding context, creating an experience accessible to all.

Accessibility

The site is located at the end of Main Street, an important ending to the strip of memorial sculptures. The design proposes a circulation path that extends the path of the sculptures for further exposure and accessibility.

Massing

Following the circulation path, an L-shaped massing is formed. To create spatial distinction between the two massings, the smaller L-shape closer to the street is for public use and the larger L-shape is used for more private settings.

Flow

Music is fluid, it contains a rhythmic flow with smooth transitions in between beats and lyrics. A double curve is introduced in the core to create fluid transitions of circulation between the two massing forms.

Connectivity

Music brings communities together, it allows for people to express themselves and create relationships with one another. A bridge is introduced to connect the public library and performance theater to form a joint relationship.

Visibility

Artists thrive off exposure. Creating moments where they can be seen is essential for their growth. Balconies are introduced to allow for artists to be seen and to create areas of relief after a long session of studying.

Shipping containers for materiality and form/ top places to visit

Concept

Interpretation:

Core-like structure with open spaces for increased air-flow

T-shape footprint with an implementation of net positive design

Around the world in 01 Day, is an exhibit installation that transports users to my favorite destinations of the world. With the mix of digital media and graphic representation, the structure provides intimate spaces for culture to thrive and guide users through the wonders of the world.

Form & Structure

Shipping containers are placed in a T-shape layout then stacked to create volume. Structure is reinforced through recycled steel beams and columns. The floors and walls are made from local repurposed wood along with recycled glass to create the confetti design. The confetti is a celebration of each country in which honors the colors of their flags. Digital media and ornament is puzzled into the design to fully capture special moments of each cultural environment.

Sustainability

Why shipping containers? Shipping container architecture is usually labeled as green, sustainable, or eco-friendly form of building because no further-mining of metals is needed in order to reuse the shipping container and the insulation and other additions to the container can often be done with recycled materials too.

Percieving Time - Conceptual living space Revolving Sun

As light enters the space the perception of time is represented in the form of a radiant sun. Through an objective perspective, time can be perceived as the sun rotates around the space, revealing it's beams of light as the day goes by. In moments where the sun is at its highest point, the form of the sun shines through the skylight. The passage of light illustrates the connections within our lives by starting your day bright and ending it with a relaxed sensation.

Percieving Space - Conceptual Circulation Space Duality

Light holds the power to transform a space by its form and color. It creates profiles in which guide users through a space. Soft light is created to illustrate a safe, calming path, while a loud light is created to illuminate a restricted path. The linear ray of light highlights the direct paths we take to follow the natural order, while the curvature lines highlights the purity of traveling outside of the lines. Light creates contrast within a space and can shape our moods. With the sudden changes of form and color, light shifts our realities, modifying the space in reflecting of our moods.

Percieving Light - Conceptual Meeting Space Sea

of Color

Light can create waves within a space, allowing fluid motion to flow and reel us in. With the use of color, the space is amplified and creates an ethereal feeling, in which takes you beyond reality. The space is confirmed with wooden boundaries allowing light to spill in through the reflective light channels. The cracks between the stones allows crevices of light to be filtered through the space and capture your attention. As you reach the end of your destination you are met with a sea of color shining through an open glass skylight, revealing the luminescence of the space.
