MANUFACTURING PROCESS OF HASTELLOY C276 FOIL

Hastelloy C276 is a high-performance nickel-molybdenum-chromium alloy known for its excellent corrosion resistance and mechanical properties Hastelloy C276 foil is a thin, flexible sheet of the alloy that is used in a variety of industries, including chemical processing, aerospace, and oil and gas. The manufacturing process of Hastelloy C276 foil involves several steps, including melting, casting, hot rolling, annealing, cold rolling, and finishing.

The first step in the manufacturing process is melting the raw materials. Hastelloy C276 is made from a blend of nickel, molybdenum, chromium, and other elements, which are melted together in a vacuum induction furnace. The furnace creates a vacuum to prevent the metal from reacting with the atmosphere, which could cause impurities in the final product.

Once the metal is melted, it is cast into rectangular blocks using a continuous casting process. The blocks are then cooled and prepared for hot rolling. Hot rolling is a process in which the blocks are heated to a high temperature and then rolled into thin sheets or foils. The hot rolling process reduces the thickness of the metal while increasing its length.

The finished Hastelloy C276 foil is then cut to size, cleaned, and packaged for shipping. The quality of the raw materials, the control of the manufacturing process, and the quality of the final product are critical to producing a highquality Hastelloy C276 foil.

NECESSARY STEPS THAT COVER IN MANUFACTURING

Melting

The first step in the manufacturing process is melting the raw materials. Hastelloy C276 is made from a blend of nickel, molybdenum, chromium, and other elements. These raw materials are melted together in a vacuum induction furnace. The furnace creates a vacuum to prevent the metal from reacting with the atmosphere, which could cause impurities in the final product.

Casting

Once the metal is melted, it is cast into rectangular blocks using a continuous casting process. The blocks are then cooled and prepared for hot rolling. Continuous casting is a process that involves pouring the molten metal into a water-cooled mold that continuously moves through the casting machine. This process helps to produce a more uniform grain structure in the metal.

Annealing:

After drawing, the wire undergoes a heat treatment process called annealing. Annealing helps to relieve any stresses in the wire that may have been generated during the drawing process and improves its ductility. The wire is heated to a high temperature and then slowly cooled to achieve the desired properties.

Hot Rolling

Hot rolling is a process in which the blocks of metal are heated to a high temperature and then rolled into thin sheets or foils The hot rolling process reduces the thickness of the metal while increasing its length The hot rolling process is typically performed at temperatures between 2200°F and 2400°F

Cutting

Cleaning, and Packaging: Once the Hastelloy C276 foil has undergone the final annealing process, it is then cut to size, cleaned, and packaged for shipping. The foil is cut into the required size for its intended application, and any excess material is removed. The foil is then cleaned to remove any impurities or residue left from the manufacturing process.

Coiling:

After inspection, the wire is coiled into spools or reels for storage and transport This helps to prevent tangling or damage to the wire and makes it easier to handle during the subsequent manufacturing steps

Testing:

Before the wire is shipped to customers, it undergoes a series of tests to ensure that it meets the required mechanical and chemical properties. This testing involves a range of mechanical and chemical tests to determine properties such as tensile strength, hardness, and corrosion
