Holy Greetings to the Delegates of Historic First Jurisdiction of Indiana,

I would like to first express my appreciation to each of you for your overwhelming support and commitment to the Historic First Jurisdiction of Indiana. Another year has passed as we have anticipated the advent of a great outpouring of Holy Ghost presence during our gatherings in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. God has been faithful and certainly provides encouragement for the Saints in this challenging season.

Our theme for the 2023 Holy Convocation is:

“The Promises of Faith: We Believe”

Mark 9:20-27, Mark 2:1-12, Hebrews 11

We are indeed praying and believing God will meet us in a mighty way during our Holy Convocation. It is our hope that you, the Saints of the Most High God, are inspired, motivated and fortified for ministry that will impact our world for the better. God bless each of the Saints of God as we fight the good fight of faith.

In His Service,

Prelate

THE RIGHT REVEREND THE SIXTH IN SUCCESSION

Jurisdictional Prelate, Historic First Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction of Indiana Pastor, Saints Memorial COGIC, South Bend, IN

Bishop Carl J. Steen Jr. was born in 1960 to church triumphant warriors Superintendent and 1st Administrative Assistant Carl J. and Missionary Genevieve Steen in South Bend, Indiana. His first encounter with salvation occurred at the age of nine years under the tutelage of the late Bishop C. E. Bennett, who was his Pastor. The Lord later filled him with the Holy Ghost as a teenager. He has worked for the Lord ever since. The Lord blessed Bishop Steen to work in many areas of the church - as a Sunday School Teacher, Usher, Deacon, Trustee, Drummer, Organist, Choir member, District Minister of Music, District Treasurer and Jurisdiction Sunday School Treasurer as he served in God’s assignments and responsibilities.

Bishop Steen accepted the call into ministry in 1995. In 2000, the late Bishop Milton L. Hall, prelate of Historic First Jurisdiction of Indiana, ordained him as an Elder in the Churches of God in Christ. In May 2005, upon the homegoing of Supt. Carl J. Steen Sr., was appointed Pastor of Saints Memorial COGIC. In July 2006, Bishop Steen was appointed Historic First Jurisdiction of Indiana Youth Department President by Jurisdictional

Prelate Bishop Mark Henry Blade. In July 2012, Bishop Steen was appointed AIM Chairman, working in both capacities. He also served as a member of the Ordination Board and Jurisdiction Trustee Board. In 2019 Bishop Steen was appointed leader of the R.O. Hatchett District. Bishop Steen loves serving God, the church, and God’s people. His love of the Word continues to be the driving force behind the ministry given to him by God.

Bishop Carl J. Steen, Jr. received his bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) from Purdue University in 1983 and a master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) from Indiana University in 1990. He also received his Associate Biblical Certificate from the Charles Harrison Mason System of Bible Colleges, where he was Salutatorian. Honeywell International has employed him for 38.5 years, where he has received numerous awards and is currently the Lead Technical System Safety and Reliability Engineer responsible for the Honeywell South Bend, Indiana, and Torrance, California sites.

Bishop Steen has been married to the love of his life, Missionary Jacqueline Faye Steen, for 37 years. They have three outstanding children, Cara Jacquise, Carl J., III (Octavia), and Chloe Jemse. The Steens have four granddaughters, Kennedy, Londyn, Ava, and Sanai, and were recently blessed by the addition of C4 - Carl J. Steen, IV.

God has shown His Favor to Bishop Steen and his family as he ministers the Word of the Lord to the people of God and lives a life that conforms to Holiness. Our God’s wonders are past finding out. Praise the Lord!

“‘Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus“ by Louisa M. R. Stead

‘Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus, and to take him at his word; just to rest upon his promise, and to know, “Thus saith the Lord.”

Refrain:

Jesus, Jesus, how I trust him!

How I’ve proved him o’er and o’er!

Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus!

O for grace to trust him more!

2 O how sweet to trust in Jesus, just to trust his cleansing blood; and in simple faith to plunge me neath the healing, cleansing flood! [Refrain]

3 Yes, ‘tis sweet to trust in Jesus, just from sin and self to cease; just from Jesus simply taking life and rest, and joy and peace. [Refrain]
